Do Trailer Tire/Wheels Come Balanced
Published 04/09/2015 >
Question:
Are mounted tires balanced or do I have to have the tires balanced?

Expert Reply:
The trailer tire and wheel combination is received from the supplier already with the tire mounted on the wheel. The supplier does not balance the combination, but when the tire is installed to the wheel they will line the high (heavy) spot on the tire with the low (light) spot on the wheel. This does not completely balance the tire and wheel combination but it does eliminate any excessive out of balance condition.
I would recommend to balance the tire and wheel combination at a local tire shop. Being balanced will help the tire wear evenly and reduces noise and vibration on the trailer.
You will also want to make sure to always run the maximum tire pressure that is listed on the trailer tire.
