Where Does Lower Bar of the Hopkins Tailgate Assist part # 74211 Sit in Relation to Pivot Tube

Installation question on Hopkins taligate assist: Does the lower horizontal part of the bar want to line up with the pivot point of the tailgate or be above or below it? Thank you for any clearification on this.

The lower bar of the Hopkins Tailgate Assist part # 74211 that you referenced will end up sitting right at level with the pivot point of the tailgate. If you check out the picture I attached you will see where that part of the assist installs in relation to the hinge of the tailgate.
