Wheel and Tire # AM30100 Recommendation for a 1989 Karavan Trailer
Updated 03/17/2015 | Published 03/15/2015 >
Question:
Hello, I just purchase a used 1989 Karavan trailer that I am going to use for my atv. I just noticed that I have Carlisle USA Trail 570-8 tires on them. However, one tire is 2 Ply Load rate B, 715 lbs maximum weight at 50 psi and the other is 4 Ply Load rate C, 910 lbs maximum weight at 75 psi. I want to buy your am30100 with the wheels and need to know if they will work. The tires and wheels I have I will use for spares. Also, I hate to sound stupid, but I do not have much experience with this. If I have a weight capacity of 915 lbs with a wheel and tire does this mean I have 915 lbs capacity for the trailer or is it 915lbs x 2 = 1,830 weight capacity? Also, do you have any trailer dust caps I can purchased also? I have attached a photo of the wheel and tire I currently have. They are both 5 lug bolt. Let me know as soon as you can so I can purchase these from yopu if they will work. Thank you in advance.

The Wheel and Tire part # AM30100 that you referenced has the same tire size and wheel bolt pattern as what you currently have so it should work well as an exact replacement.
It has the capacity of 715 lbs at 50 psi. The thing about trailer tires is that they only have their max capacity when they are inflated to their max psi. So you would have to keep this tire inflated to 50 psi.
The capacity for a trailer tire is meant as the capacity for just the single wheel/tire. If your trailer has a single axle with two tires you would double the wheel/tire capacity to get the overall wheel/tire capacity.
