Question:
I have a1993 coleman cedar popup camper , it had 5.70-8 load range b tires on it. is this adequate or should I have a higher load range

Expert Reply:
The dry weight of your 1993 Coleman Cedar Pop-Up camper is right at 1,000 lbs. You then have to add anything you've loaded into it to that number. Divide that in half and each tire should have a weight rating that is above that.
The Kenda 5.70-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" White Wheel Load Range B part # AM30100 for instance offers a 715 lb. per tire load limit for a total of 1430 lbs. capacity. If you have loaded more than 430 lbs. in the camper this is not sufficient.
Going up to a Load Range C like the Kenda 5.70-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" White Wheel part # AM30140 has a 910 lb. rating and will give you 1820 lbs. of total capacity.
There will be a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating tag on the frame of the camper and you do not want to exceed that regardless of tire.
