How Much Do the Yakima RidgeBack 4 and RidgeBack 2 Bike Racks Weigh

Question:

I ordered and got a Yakima 4 bike hitch carrier and I was shocked at how heavy it is! How much does it weigh compared to the 2 bike Yakima? I have not taken the 4 hitch out of the box yet.... Thanks

Some racks can be quite heavy! The 4 bike Yakima racks vary depending on the model.
The BigHorn weighs about 30 pounds.
The SwingDaddy weighs about 54 pounds.
The RidgeBack 4 weighs 45 pounds.
The FlipSide 4 weighs 35 pounds.

Our lightest 2 bike rack is the Thule Helium, # TH9042PRO. It has a weight of only 19 pounds but still has a capacity of 70 pounds. This rack fits in 1-1/4 inch receivers.

Our lightest 4 bike carrier is the Hollywood Racks "Traveler" # HR8500. It weighs in at 25 pounds. I have included an assembly video, and a video review of this rack below.

Can I use the ridgeback 4 bikes in the back hitch receiver of an R-Pod191? Not planning to load but 2 bikes but I’m worried about the ridgeback not designed for Camper use?

The Yakima RidgeBack isn't approved for use on a trailer, so I can't recommend doing this. It may not hold up to the rougher ride it'll experience at the rear of your R-Pod. The similar Yakima RoadTrip # Y02477 is a much better option that's specifically designed for this application.
