This was SO easy... my Toyota Dealership didn't Charge me a PENNY to install it !
They had the Prius in for a 10k mile check up/oil change/tire rotation, etc...
So the car was already up in the air.

My hitch went on exactly as described. The instructions were very clear. I was disappointed that the hitch arrived with a scratch in the paint, but that was easily fixed with some black paint.

Fantastic hitch for my PriusI needed to pull a small trailer with 2 electric wheelchairs on it. It works great. I can go where I want and take my chair with me and at times I take my Mom's chair. Recieved our new Curt hitch two days after placing the order. I was able to mount the hitch on our 2012 Prius III without jacking it up, or putting it on a set of ramps with no problem. I had it installed in about 20 minutes. The quality of this Curt hitch is top notch. For those that wonder if mounting a hitch on their prius will degrade mpg, even with nothing attached to it, we just got done with a 350 mile highway trip, and still got 51 mpg. I plan on using it to haul our bikes, on our Swagman XTC 2, also purchased from Etrailer. Great product! VERY happy with this purchase! Thanks E-trailer!
It took over 2 hours for install for 2 reasons. First, the tools would not fit around the exhaust system and in the access slot. 3/4 drive equipment was too bulky. Second reason, an Important issue, the heat shield on my 2011 prius extends further aft than the video and to fit the rightside bracket correctly, the bracket must be sandwiched between the shield and the frame. It took alot of time bending the shield to get the bracket installed. The video is wrong, they just clamp on top of the shield and squeeze it against the frame. You don't want heat to transfer to the vehicle because the 12-volt battery is located in that area.
This is the third hitch I've purchased from etrailer. They have a great selection, fast shipping, and the installation videos are bang on. The hitch was super easy to install on my 2014 prius, looks sharp, like it belongs there. If you don't have a torque wrench, you should borrow/buy one instead of guessing on how tight to do the bolts - I was surprised at how tight they needed to be - if I was just guessing there's no way I would have cranked them that tight.
I had some trouble getting the bolt holes to line up, but once I got all the bolts started, it fit fine. then I purchased a 1 1/4 to 2" adapter at autozone, and installed my e-bike rack.. it also worked fine for that. I have never pulled a trailer with it, just use it to carry my e-bike
We were limited to a 1-1/4" hitch on our Prius, and I was a little wary of hanging two heavy electric bikes on it on a Thule hitch. But having had it for a year, including a trip up the Colorado Rockies and lots of bumps on various roads, we have had no problem at all. Solid.

Love it! This trailer hitch allows an upright bike rack to attach, with the addition of an adapter, to our hatchback style Prius. It is much sturdier than our old bike rack that leaned against the hatch window. The trailer hitch/bike rack combo allows us to get into the hatch without removing the rack. We travelled across Florida and back, 300 miles, with no problems. Your website was very helpful in determining the proper hitch and installation was easy. Thank you for a great product at a good price.

I bought this hitch after watching the online videos by etrailer detailing the installation. They make it look a lot easier to install than my experience, but i was not using a lift and had never done it before. The price on this hitch was very good and it was shipped very quickly. It beat the tools that I ordered from another online retailer to do the install, in fact. The packaging was good as well, and protected the hitch. I included a picture of my installation, which admittedly does not show very much, but its a win for me. The hardest part of installation was dealing with the exhaust bracket. I plan on purchasing a bike rack and a cargo rack in the near future, maybe even a small trailer.

After a year there has been absolutely no problems with the hitch. My plans of cargo racks and trailers were derailed due to the crazy year 2020, but I did purchase an Allen Sports 2-Bike Hitch Rack. The hitch holds the very heavy bike rack heavier loaded very securely with little to no wobble just using the locking hitch pin I also bought. I have no complaints about the hitch.
The videos and printed instructions were a great help. The receiver fit my 2012 Prius perfectly, I mounted the Thule bike rack, my bike, and rolled down the Interstate rock steady.
I will recommend eTrailer to my fellow bike clubbers.

Strong, flawless performance.
I purchase two different products and installed both, back to back. I did not use a jack or a lift, so it took about 45 minutes to finesse this one into/onto my Toyota Prius. I needed a helper (wife) which made it much easier. This is for a bike rack. Ordered Friday and delivered Monday, fast, fast. Thank you.

It has performed as my intended use. I have only used this for attaching a bicycle rack and holding 2 bicycles.
I installed it in 15 minutes with good video and instructions that are provided. Mounting tabs lined up perfectly to OEM holes using their upgraded bolts and washers.
Received it in 3 days after they sent me shipping confirmation and tracking number.
They should tape foam on the mounting tabs to prevent damage and puncturing through the box.
I like how it tucks up and hardly noticeable.

Sundeep I did it at work in the parking lot, I use the box to set the hitch on then pushed it under the rear and held it up with one arm while the other was threading in their supplied bolts.
Super easy to install and did it in about 45 mins without lifting the vehicle. Don't recommend that but show's you how simple both the hitch design and the Prius (2015) design is. Instructions provided is simple to follow and video links on the website helped.

It has worked great. We sold the Prius in early 2025 and on the next car got a 2 hitch.
