For your 2016 Chevy Tahoe I recommend the P2 brake controller # 90885. This is a proportional controller that will apply the trailer brakes in proportion to how much the Tahoe is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on the trailer and vehicle brakes. The P2 is also easy to set up and use and it's reliable.
To plug the P2 brake controller into your Tahoe you will also need wiring harness # 3016. I have included a link to a video showing an example installation of the P2 using the 3016 harness.
