B&W Companion to Curt Turnover Gooseneck Hitch Ball Adapter

Updated 05/10/2024 | Published 02/14/2015

Question:

Is there an adaptor for the BandW companion fifth wheel hitch to make it compatible for a Curt gooseneck turnover ball

Expert Reply:

B&W gooseneck hitch balls such as part # BWGNXA2010 feature a square shank that fits into the square opening of a B&W gooseneck hitch such as # BWGNRK1309. Curt gooseneck balls use a round shank and the two types are not compatible. No adapters are available to allow use of a square peg in a round hole.

If you care to provide the year/make/model/version of your truck I will be happy to see what options we can offer in 5th wheel hitches.

I just bought a 2024 Chev 2500 HD with a factory Curt ball. It is unacceptably sloppy in the receiver, and they say it is normal. What are my options other than tearing out the Curt setup?

@Modo1 If you're wanting to swap out the OEM Curt ball then your best option is the Gen-Y Hitch Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # GY55XR which sits in the gooseneck receiver as well as anchors in 2 of the other pucks in your 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 bed. For a standard replacement I recommend the B&W Ball and Safety Chain Kit # BWGNXA2061, but you might want to test out your gooseneck receiver with a gooseneck ball from a friend first just to make sure nothing is going on with your gooseneck hitch receiver.
