This transfer switch has been pre-wired to automatically change the primary source of AC current from shore power to generator or inverter power when activated. It has a 50-amp double pole switch that includes (2) 120V legs, which can provide 240V service if needed. To prevent electrical interruptions, the time delay circuit board allows the alternate power source to stabilize before a transfer occurs. Additionally, since the switch only accepts one active source, it protects your electrical system from dangerous backfeed that can damage your equipment.
The metal case has cord knockouts for the various connections.
The switch wires to your shore power input and generator or inverter input. Both inputs are wired to the AC panel.

this was bought as a replacement to a different brand in a RV. the fit was great, and wiring was simple. delivery was pretty quick, leaving minimal down time on a RV that's out almost every weekend of the year, not much room for error and down time.
This item shipped fast and was exactly as described. The automatic email with tracking information was a nice touch. I have used etrailer for many parts and as always they have never dissapointed.
One year after replacing the transfer switch in my trailer with this model I have had no further problems with my electrical system. Installation was easy as well.

I paid for overnight delivery and it was delivered a day late. I had to purchase this item from another store in order to have my camper repaired in time for our trip.
Solid construction with a durable metal housing. Easy to remove lid for access. My only suggestion is that the 1” cable clamps should be provided with the unit.

Ordered this when my OEM switch went bad. It was easy to install, and a year later it is working like a charm.
As always, happy with the service from etrailer. I particularly appreciate their videos highlighting products under consideration. I am also a fan of the speed of delivery and the shipment tracking that they provide. This Progressive Dynamics PD52 was purchased to replace a 15-year-old OEM transfer switch in our motorhome that was beginning to give us trouble. The process was practically plug-and play. The configuration of the electrical contactors within the box is the same as that of the old one, so wiring was all located in the correct positions from the get go. I selected this particular ATS because it has a metal case. Plastic would have probably worked just fine, but I prefer metal in case anything should start heating up within it. Good product and good service. No complaints!

Service is second to none. However, the switch is got was missing a coil that is mounted to The bottom. Also the circuit board is missing a green led light. I thought this was a direct replacement for my PD52(P).

I reached out to the manufacturer about this and it sounds like you might have had model number PD52C which is the 50 amp Transfer Switch with the generator start option, which is one that we do not currently carry. The new SMD LED light is only visible when it lights up. You can still use this model with your camper. It just will not have the generator start coil like the original one did.
Ordered a transfer switch for my Newmar diesel pusher. The model Newmar recommended was in stock. It showed up on time as promised. Install was relatively easy.

Transfer switch has perfectly...
why are the nipples stamped the wrong way,, shows that no one is doing quality check , very poor.
I gave this 3 stars because the original switch (same make/model/identical to this one) failed shortly after the warranty expired. Very annoying. I use my trailer heavily 6 months/year (snowbirds), so maybe the manufacturer intended this unit for occasional weekend summertime use. IDK. I bought the same make/model because it was easier than researching a different replacement and I needed a replacement NOW. etrailer had it in-stock at a similar price to other retailers, and they shipped it quickly. I've always had good experiences buying from etrailer.
I can't say that this a bad unit, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth that it failed right after the warranty expired.
FWIW, my original unit failed because the shore power relay froze in the "off" or "almost off" position. When I plugged into shore power, the relay would not move. I tried applying power to the generator input, and the relay made a really bad, scary, grinding noise.

The transfer relay was as represented and works great. I didn’t have generator power or shore power. In fact 240v was in my outlets in half of the motor home. My original transfer relay had one relay for each leg. This one has only two, and works great. It took a little to be sure I was wiring it correctly. I also replaced the box to plug in my shore cord. A previous owner had pulled away with the cable still attached. I used a “drill to fit” plastic box from a big box store. I have both generator and shore power.
The switch was a replacement for one that was fried due to fluctuating ground (shore) power during a major mid-west storm last week that put thousands without power. I called etrailer (our internet was out as well) and found that they had one in stock. I ordered it and it was on my doorstep 5 days later...which isn't bad for something that had to be shipped via ground from Salt Lake city. It's an exact replacement and it arrived in good condition due to the excellent packing.
I've ordered before from etrailer.com and they usually have what I want in stock. I live about 100 miles from the STL area and the shipping is usually 2 days even though they advertise that it might be 4-5. The company has good technical support and for certain items, good installation videos.
