Replacement Transfer Switch for PD52DCS

Updated 09/29/2025 | Published 09/02/2025

Question:

I have a pd52dcs auto transfer relay switch when I plug in shore power it doesn’t work until I tap the unit as if the switch is sticking. Is there anything I can do to repair or does it need to be replaced and if so what would the new part be because I don’t see it on progressives website. Thanks

Hey Bob, the Progressive Dynamics Transfer Switch - Metal Case - 50 Amp - 120V/240V # PD52 (Alternatively PD52V) and the PD52DCS/PD52DCSV are both part of the PD52 series but there are some differences. Both share the same voltage rating and current ratings. The # PD52 is slightly smaller in size and weight, and has a different control board. It also does not include a remote, which the PD52DCS has.

The other differences are additional features the PD52DCS has that the # PD52 does not. It has open neutral, reverse polarity, under voltage and over voltage protection. It also has multimode surge protection. I would recommend the PD52 to replace what you have as it does sound like yours is damaged and in need of replacement.

Hey Bob, did you decide to go with the PD52 to replace your current transfer switch? I'm curious to know if it resolved the issue, as it might help others facing similar problems.
