Expert Reply:
Don't worry Gilles, even though your Progressive Dynamics PD52DCSD is obsolete you can replace it with the Transfer Switch # PD52. If you wish to still have the surge protection you can add the Power Watchdog # HU27FR in line of the transfer switch since the new transfer switch does not have it built in like your old one. The new surge protection will Bluetooth to your phone rather than use the panel like you currently have.

I, too, have the same question. Is there a competing brand that has surge protection built-in for a self-contained setup?
