Is There Way to Wire Progressive Dynamics Transfer Switch So Shore Power is Dominant

Updated 06/18/2025 | Published 05/16/2025

Question:

I’m looking at the PD52 transfer switch to use it with an inverter in my 50 amp rv. It says that the inverter is generator dominant. Is there any way to change that so it will switch from inverter to shore power when plugged in? Thank you for your help.

Hey Brad, while the standard wiring for the Progressive Dynamics transfer switch part # PD52 is to have it switch to the generator any time a generator is active and that circuit becomes dominant you can chose to have your shore power ran to the dominant circuit on the switch and it would operate opposite.

Thanks for the help. I have another question. I wired it temporarily to check it out and it worked with main power wired to generator side and inverter to shore power. I put power to inverter and then provided power to generator side and after about a 20 second delay the power switched. I want to eliminate the delay function. Instructions say to jumper J1. On the control board in my switch it says to bypass delay short H1 or H2. H2 has 2 small prongs on a plastic connection. That has a small bump on it that looks like its for a jumper that would be held in place. I’d like to find out if this is something that would be available from Progressive Dynamics. Thanks for your help.

@BradF That's not a part we carry but yeah if you contact Progressive Dynamics directly they should be able to help with that.
