Excellent Corrosion Resistance

The simple truth is that salt can be highly corrosive to metal when exposure lasts for an extended period of time. So, the more you tow around it, the more you need to protect your trailer from it.

A rusted trailer jack welded to a trailer frame

The Z-Max zinc finish on this jack offers great corrosion protection, even with occasional use around saltwater, to help ensure that it doesn't end up looking like the one above. Rust-resistant coatings are graded according to a salt spray rating. Basically, this rating shows the amount of time it takes for a material to show signs of corrosion when exposed to pure, continuous salt spray. Traditional zinc plating typically begins to deteriorate after about 100 hours. Dacromet usually lasts for around 300 to 400 hours. Fulton's Z-Max finish lasts for 600 hours in the salt spray test - 30% longer than a standard powder coat finish.

The environment this test creates is much harsher than anything you'll ever experience in your journeys, but it provides a testament to how well this jack resists rust and corrosion.

How to Determine the Lift Capacity You Need in a Jack

A trailer jack lifts your trailer high enough at the tongue to allow you to couple it with your vehicle. Usually, your tongue weight is about 10-15% of your gross trailer weight (GTW). For example, a 10,000-lb trailer has a tongue weight of 1,000 lbs to 1,500 lbs. To raise the tongue of a trailer this size, you'd need a jack that can handle a static load of no less than 1,500 lbs. And, yes, it's okay to have a jack with a weight rating that is higher than your trailer's tongue weight. In fact, a jack with a higher capacity should operate more efficiently, allowing you to spend less time cranking and more time fishing.

  • Swivel Jack Replacement Recommendation for Shelby 5730 Jack
I believe the jack you are looking for a replacement for is a frame mounted, swivel jack, sidewind, that has a 2,000 lb capacity and a wheel caster. We did have a customer come back and say that the Fulton jack part # FTJ120W0301 will attach just fine to the pipe mount on the trailer frame from a Shelby jack.

  • Replacement Jack to Bolt Up to Shelby 5784 Mounting Bracket
What we have heard from our customers is that the Fulton # FTJ120W0301 does fit the mounting plate of the Shelby Jack 5784. This would be your best option for a direct replacement.

  • Recommended Replacement for Fulton Magnum Series Trailer Jack
The correct replacement for the Fulton Magnum Series Trailer Jack on your trailer is the Fulton Bolt-Thru Swivel Marine Jack part # FXP10W0301 if you have a bolt-thru mounting bracket or part # FTJ120W0301 if you have a snap-ring mounting bracket. I have attached a photo of each to help you distinguish which you have.

  • Fulton Jack Recommendation for Triton Dual Axle Boat Trailer with Weld On Fulton Jack
Sounds like you'd need a Fulton jack like the part # FXP100W0301 which is a weld on style jack like what you have that would attach to a bracket like part # P9012-00 that you'd have installed on your trailer most likely. You can send me pictures if you like and I'll take a look and see if there's something else that would work better. Sticking with a Fulton jack though will allow you to reuse the bracket you have installed instead of having to remove what you have and install a new one.

  • Replacement Jack for a Shelby Model 5730 Sidewind Jack
Hey Dan. If your jack mount has a 2-1/2" ring on it then the Round Snap Ring Swivel Jack w/ Footplate item # TJB-2002S-B is going to be your best option. This 2,000 lbs capacity jack attaches to the same size bracket that the Fulton item # FTJ120W0301 jack you were looking at does. We've confirmed the Fulton will fit the Shelby model 5730 weld on bracket. The Round Snap Ring Swivel Jack item # TJB-2002S-B measures 15-1/2" when retracted, 30" when extended, and offers 14-1/2" of travel....

  • Replacement Jack For A 2004 Ranger Reata VS180 Boat Trailer
Hey Jeff, Does your Fulton jack have a swivel mount like the # FXP15L does where you can pull a lever and turn the entire jack to get it up out of the way? I've attached a picture of the # FXP15L below as well showing it with a welded on mount instead of using the clamp mount. If this is the case you can swap out just the jack and keep using the same mount welded to the frame. You'll need to remove the snap ring with some pliers and can then pull the jack off of the mount and measure...

  • What is the Best Way to Jack Up a Boat Trailer with Torsion Axles
The best way to jack up a boat trailer with torsion axles, or straight axles for that matter, is to use a trailer jack that is rated high enough for the weight of the trailer at the point the jack is installed. Going with a higher capacity than needed will be easier on the jack and allow it to last longer. If you want to jack up the whole trailer, front and back and both sides, you can use the tongue jack for the front and then use a floor jack to jack up one corner at the back of the...

  • Will Fulton Boat Trailer Jack w/ Wheel Fit 1998 Four Winns 180 Horizon
Hey Mike! You can use the Fulton Boat Trailer Jack w/ Wheel # FTJ120W0301 on your 1998 Four Winns 180 Horizon. However, you will need to measure to see if this matches the current bracket. See the attached photo with measurements. Worst case you can cut off the old one and weld-on the included backing plate. You can also weld on the new one in a different location and leave the old one in place for less work. What kind of jack did you have before? An old Shelby maybe?

  • Recommendation to Replace Shelby 5756A Trailer Jack
Based on my research, the Fulton Round, Snap-Ring Swivel Marine Jack # FTJ120W0301 will be a perfect replacement for your Shelby 5756A trailer jack. This jack will allow you to use the existing snap ring jack mount on your trailer for installation. The trailer jack has a 1,200 pound weight capacity and a 10 inch lift. The snap ring pilot hole diameter is 2.313 inches and the retracted bracket height is 13 inches. Note that the jack does include a weld-on mounting plate, but you can use...

  • Replacement for Shelby # 5756 1200 lb Jack
The Shelby # 5776 is the direct replacement for the # 5756, but we do not offer that particular jack. The Fulton # FTJ120W0301 that you referenced would make an acceptable replacement. The capacity and the amount of lift or travel is identical. Both jacks are weld-on applications and both have a corrosion inhibiting zinc plated finish. The Fulton jack dimension from the bottom of the mounting bracket to the bottom of the caster when fully retracted is 13 inches, 23 inches when fully extended....

  • Is there a Higher Rated Fulton Jack that Uses the Same Swivel Mount as My TJ120W0301?
Hello Jim, The Fulton Boat Trailer Jack w/ Wheel - Sidewind - Swivel - 10" Lift - Zinc - 1.2K # FTJ120W0301 is rated for 1,200 pounds. Keep in mind that this rating applies to the tongue weight of the trailer, not the overall trailer weight. For reference, I have a 2004 Ranger, and the tongue weight is no more than 400 pounds. Fulton uses two different swivel mount styles for their jacks. The one you currently have features the open-circle style mount. Unfortunately, Fulton does not offer...

  • Is There a Swivel Jack with Snap Ring Compatible with 15 Inch Lift and Caster with 1200 lb Capacity?
All of the 15 inch lift jacks with the snap ring are rated for 2,000 lbs or more. The reason why you aren't finding a wheel in that lift is because the wheels are not rated for that capacity. The jacks with the integrated wheel don't have the same lift, but they do have a wheel diameter that impacts the height adjustment. The Fulton Round, Snap-Ring Swivel Marine Jack - Weld On - Sidewind - 10" Lift - 1,200 lbs # FTJ120W0301 has a 6 inch diameter wheel so the bracket height will be...

  • Is There A Snap Ring Jack With A Wheel That Uses a 1/2" Pin For The Mounting Plate?
Hello John. After looking thru all of the snap-ring jacks we carry, I am sorry to say that we do not offer anything with a wheel that will also use a 1/2" pin. We do have a jack with a wheel and a snap ring that uses a 3/8" pin, the Fulton # FTJ120W0301. We also have one snap ring jack that does use a 1/2" pin, part # TJB-2001-Z, but as lock would have it, this jack has a welded foot plate instead of a wheel. Hey Max! There are some answer pages that reference other jacks and talk about the # P9012-00 but as far as I can tell nothing says this is the correct bracket. You are right, this would not work with the # FTJ120W0301 since it is a snap-ring and the bracket is for a bolt-thru. The weld-on bracket for this Fulton jack is the # F500242.
