Video Transcript for A Closer Look at the Curt Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables with S-Hooks

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Curt Single Hook Coiled Safety Cables with S-hooks. Safety cables are going to help ensure safe towing. They simply provide back up protection between the tow vehicle and your trailer. Now these cables are going to feature an S-hook located at one end. On the other end it's going to have the formed loop. On the S-hook side we're going to have the wire keepers.

These are going to help prevent the S-hooks from accidentally unhooking from the safety chain loops. Then you'll notice that each cable is a really nice, coiled design. What this does is it simply eliminates slack. It's going to keep your cables from dragging on the ground. Underneath this coating is a braided steel construction that's very strong and durable.

Then that nylon coating prevents your cables from scratching anything on your towing setup. The S-hooks are made from a steel construction. They feature a zinc coating. It's going to do a great job at resisting rust and corrosion. They're going to have a weight capacity of 3,500 pounds. The overall length, if you we're to stretch this all the way out, including the hooks, is going to be about 42".

Just the cable itself is going to be around 40". We did do some precise measurements. The opening on the loop end, measuring the width right there is 0.68" wide. Outer edge to outer edge is 1.188" wide. The opening on the hook itself, right here at the opening, that gives us a gap of 11/16", and then it narrows to around 5/8" wide.

With this part number you're going to get two safety cables. That's going to do it for today's look at the Curt Single Hook Coiled Safety Cables with the S-hooks.

  • Recommended Braking System To Flat Tow A 2011 Mini Copper
The Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System Item # RM-8700 is not meant for mountains so you'll be better off using the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System - Proportional Item # BLU37TR. This is a system that will require setup each time you tow your vehicle but is a confirmed fit for your 2011 Mini Cooper. Since you plan on going through multiple mountain ranges the safest bet is to use a system that is capable of handling the terrain changes you'll be going through. It...

  • How Long Should Safety Chains Be for Trailer
Since safety chains pivot underneath the trailer when making turns it's typically not a situation where a significant length of safety chain is needed to allow sharp turns to be made. Basically you'd want to measure the distance between the safety chain loop on the trailer and the loops of the hitch and give yourself and additional bit of slack. The part # C80136 measures 42 inches and is coiled too to keep it off of the ground.

  • Safety Chains for 2011 Forest Rive Flagstaff Mac Pop-Up Camper
Based on my research your 2011 Forest Rive Flagstaff Mac pop-up camper does have a 3,000 lb GVWR like you mentioned. For safety chains a great option will be the Curt Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables with S-Hooks - 42" Long - 3,500 lbs # C80136. I've added a link to a video review of these chains for you to check out as well.

  • Size of S-Hooks on the Curt Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables Part # C80136 and Part # C80176
The Curt Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables part # C80136 contain s-hooks that are 3/8" diameter and the Curt Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables part # C80176 contain s-hooks that are 1/2" diameter. The 3/8" diameter s-hooks would be much too small for the safety chain loops on your 2-1/2" trailer hitch but the 1/2" ones should work well for you. They have a 7,500 lb capacity and measure 42" long. I have attached a review video for you.

  • Complete Roadmaster Flat Towing Set Up For 2022 Chevy Spark LT w/ Manual Transmission
Those parts will indeed fit your 2022 Chevy Spark LT with manual transmission, but there is one change I highly recommend, which is a tow bar different than the Falcon 2 # RM-520. The reason for that is the Falcon 2 can bind and is difficult to use without an added tool, the RoadMaster Release Tool # RM-066. It will be much, much simpler for you to disconnect a non-binding tow bar with quick-release latches, the Falcon All-Terrain. The All-Terrain also has guides for the wiring so the...
