Today we're going to be taking a look at the Curt Single Hook Coiled Safety Cables with S-hooks. Safety cables are going to help ensure safe towing. They simply provide back up protection between the tow vehicle and your trailer. Now these cables are going to feature an S-hook located at one end. On the other end it's going to have the formed loop. On the S-hook side we're going to have the wire keepers.
These are going to help prevent the S-hooks from accidentally unhooking from the safety chain loops. Then you'll notice that each cable is a really nice, coiled design. What this does is it simply eliminates slack. It's going to keep your cables from dragging on the ground. Underneath this coating is a braided steel construction that's very strong and durable.
Then that nylon coating prevents your cables from scratching anything on your towing setup. The S-hooks are made from a steel construction. They feature a zinc coating. It's going to do a great job at resisting rust and corrosion. They're going to have a weight capacity of 3,500 pounds. The overall length, if you we're to stretch this all the way out, including the hooks, is going to be about 42".
Just the cable itself is going to be around 40". We did do some precise measurements. The opening on the loop end, measuring the width right there is 0.68" wide. Outer edge to outer edge is 1.188" wide. The opening on the hook itself, right here at the opening, that gives us a gap of 11/16", and then it narrows to around 5/8" wide.
With this part number you're going to get two safety cables. That's going to do it for today's look at the Curt Single Hook Coiled Safety Cables with the S-hooks.
