This AC unit from Advent Air is designed to replace the old or broken Carrier air conditioner on your RV or camper. The included adapter wiring kit ensures that the AC works seamlessly with your existing, in-good-working-order Carrier air distribution box and thermostat. The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. The included start capacitor will help jumpstart the AC. This beneficial upgrade provides the AC a boost when shore power or generator power isn't enough to start it. And everything you need in order to replace your AC unit is included, which makes installation simple and easy.

Start Capacitor

Advent Air Start Capacitor

If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.

Simple Installation

Advent Air AC Installation 13,500 BTU

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple and easy. Most AC units, including this one, are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't required during installation.

To install the start capacitor, bolt it to the fan motor support with the included hardware and then route the wires to the run capacitor.

Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

we installed the AC unit yesterday and it is working good on low speed but won't run on high fan. Im not sure if it is the fault of the unit or something in the wiring or the printed circuit board. The unit we replaced got to the point that it wouldn't run on high either. Getting the unit on top of the camper was easy once we viewed a video of how it was done, and we got the old unit down with no problem using the rope and ladder.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

AIR CONDITIONER ARRIVED IN 3-4 DAYS AS EXPECTED. PACKAGE LOOKED TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE. UPS DIDN'T COPY MY NAME OVER TO THE SHIPPING ADDRESS, ONLY THE LOT #. HAD A RV REPAIR PERSON THAT DOES WORK IN THE CAMPGROUND INSTALL IT FOR ME. WE USED A LADDER AND ROPE TO SLIDE IT UP TO THE ROOF OF OUR 2003 CARRIAGE CAMEO 5TH WHEEL. ONE PERSON PUSHING IT UP AND ONE PULLING. IT WORKED VERY WELL. THE NEW ONE BOLTED DOWN AND HOOKED UP JUST LIKE IT SAID IN THE DIRECTIONS. TOOK A LITTLE BIT TO HOOK UP THE ADAPTER CABLES AND INSTALL THE EXTRA CAPCITOR FOR WE WERE REPLACING A CARRIER AIR V MODEL, BUT NO SERIOUS PROBLEMS. TOOK A TOTAL OF ABOUT TWO HOURS FOR TOTAL PROJECT. COULD HAVE DONE IT MYSELF IF I WASN'T HAVING A BACK PROBLEM. SEEMS TO RUN FINE EXCEPT FOR I WISH THE BLOWER WOULDN'T RUN ALL THE TIME, EVEN WHEN THE COMPRESSOR ISN'T RUNNING. MY OLD CARRIER DID THE SAME THING. I DON'T KNOW WHETHER THERE IS A WAY TO CHANGE THAT OR NOT. I DIDN'T TAKE ANY PICTURES WHILE INSTALLING IT BUT WILL TRY AND TAKE A PICTURE OF THE NEW ONE INSTALLED.

Comments
Seems to be good! i dont use it much in the summer but use it a lot in the winter down south. still would like it to shut off when the compressor isnt running.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

Approximately one year ago during one of the hottest days of the year our roof top hvac unit in our 31ft motor coach bit the dust. Note; The unit was original so it didn't owe us anything. After doing some research online and reading many reviews I elected to order my replacement from etrailer.com mainly because they appeared to be a professional company that knows how to treat a customer. In addition I did have a few questions after I installed it and a technician was very helpful to clarify a few things. I also ordered the back up heat strips later and installed them as well. We used the unit over the summer of 2020 as well as the cold winter period and It seems to provide adequate cooling and heating. I would recommend using this company (etrailer) as well as the 13,500 BTU Advent RV Air Conditioner. We're happy campers..!

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

Now that I have installed it. Well designed product. Start capacitor modification took about 10 minutes. Trans=locating the old control box took longer than expected as the trailer control wires and romex power cable were not long enough. Mounting it lower in the evaporator housing worked. The long (4 ea) through the roof mounting bolts are spaced farther apart than Coleman's configuration and take up the whole roof-top opening. Everything is working in all modes.

Air conditioner works very well. Have owned the unit for over one year. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that there’s has been a few times where the unit stopped working and we have had to turn it off and back on to get it restarted. Other than that it has worked very well.

2/9/2021. Prior to delivery, I received an email from etrailer recommending that upon delivery open and inspect the contents. I am pleased to say that the a/c was packaged securely and appears to be in excellent condition. As we have freezing temps here for several days, it will be a while before I can install the unit. The test will be at installation time.

It did great for about 3 months, then without warning, it quit coming. The fan kept going. So I turned it off. I called your company and I was told I’d have to get ahold of the manufacturer. I just tried to turn it back on a/c, it started cooling again. For how long? I have no idea.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

It did come fast. If you are replacing an existing AC unit (even a Dometic unit) you will also need the ACDB ceiling vent assembly, as your old vent will not work with this. That begs the question - why do they even offer the ACDOM150 ? What you need is the ACM150C. I ordered the ACDOM150, then learned the hard way I also need the new vent. Had to place a new order for the vent. Wasted time and money for shipping on the 2nd order. Not nice to learn this after the struggle to heft the AC unit onto the roof of my RV.

Comments
Weve learned from our contact at Advent Air that this unit will work with an existing vent assembly if the vent assembly was made after 2008/2009. If the vent inside your camper is older than 2008, you will want to get an updated vent assembly such as part # ACDB

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

Don't know about the product yet because I can't install it. You call and ask if what your buying is a direct replacement and it's all you need and get told yes you make arrangements to get help to put it on the roof and get the old unit off, to come to find out it's not a direct replacement you need to buy an additional adapter cable to make it work. Now your stuck with no A/C and have to either pay 57 bucks to over night the 68 dollar part or wait a week with no air to make it work. So all in all when you buy the Avent air (carrier replacement) it's just a regular Avent air and you need to spend extra money to buy the right adapter to make it work. All in all I'm not a real happy camper

Comments
Thank you for your review. This AC unit ACCAR150B does come with the adapter to replace the Carrier setup without wiring. You do not need to purchase a separate adapter. I have sent you an email to try to figure out if maybe you got the wrong parts in shipment.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

I really debated about buying and installing a replacement AC unit ourselves or having a local RV dealer do it for us. After a lot of research, including reading etrailer's great on-line Q&A section, we ordered the Advent Replacement AC with the Coleman set up w/start capacitor. The wiring, which was my main concern for doing it ourselves, was truly "plug and play" and matched the old unit perfectly. No new control box or air distribution cover needed. The worst part of the entire process was getting the old, much heavier unit to the ground. The new unit fired right up and started cooling the toy hauler in the 113 degrees Las Vegas heat whereas the old unit was pretty much maxed out once we got past 90 degrees.

The a/c seems fine except for the 2 corners in the shroud (it was mentioned). The only little problem is the motor inside was off the center following a probable drop. I managed to align it as it is supposed to. The unit is running fine.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Unit in RV Air Conditioners

Seems like a great product so far. Installation was simple and it cools a 8.5x28’ trailer easy. One note: you must have 120v and 12v supply for this AC to work. I did not know that and had to go through some extra trouble of running 12 V power source.
