Video Transcript for Draw-Tite Ball Mounts - Fixed Ball Mount - 3592 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Draw-Tite Ball Mount for 1-1/4" Hitch. It has a 2-3/4" drop, 2-1/8" rise, and a 2,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this ball mount will let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank portion of it is what'll slide into your vehicle's 1-1/4" hitch receiver, and the ball platform right here is what'll provide your mounting point for your hitch ball. The hitch balls we do sell separately on our website. Now, both the drop and the rise positions are available to ensure level towing, and this is a sturdy steel construction. Has a nice solid shank on it. A black powder coat finish covers an a-coat base for superior rust protection.

It does come with the included 1/2" diameter hitch pin and clip, so when you go to install this into your hitch receiver, you put your pin and clip through there, attach it. Now, if you do want a hitch lock, we do sell those separately on our website.A few specs on this. Again, the application, this fits 1-1/4" by 1-1/4" trailer hitch receivers, either Class I or Class II. The gross towing weight capacity is 2,000 pounds. Tongue weight capacity is 200 pounds. Now, we do want to give you some measurements.

The length as measured from the center of the ball hole to the center of the hitch pin hole, so if we go center to center, going to be right at 9-3/4". Now the other measurement, we're going to measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the ball mount. You can see that's right at 6-1/2". Now the drop, again, this is measured from the top of the shank to the top of the ball platform, so the maximum drop is 2-3/4". If we flip it over, rise again, top of the shank to top of the ball platform, going to be right at 2-1/8".

Now, the ball hole diameter, so when you go to get your hitch ball, you want to make sure you have the right specs on the hitch ball that'll fit this. The ball hole diameter is going to be right at 3/4". The platform thickness is 5/8". The pin hole diameter, we mentioned, accepts a pin of 1/2" diameter. But that should do it for the review on the Draw-Tite Ball Mount for 1-1/4" Hitch. It has a 2-3/4" drop, 2-1/8" rise, and a 2,000 pound gross towing weight capacity..

The instructions with the Accord say that "Hitch should only be used in the RISE position" with no further description, simple enough to search, but would have been nice for them to provide a picture or say that the rise position is basically where the hitch ball attachment angles upward and the ball sits on top of that... the hitch ball mount is intuitively used in the drop or angled downward position most of the time. Rise postion: _0_ __/ Drop position: __ \_0_ (their picture for the product is in the drop position, rise position is flipping it upside down.) 20416

Drawbar appears to be of excellent quality. However I don't like the pin and clip design. The pin has a groove rather than a hole in it for the pin to clip though like my older drawbar had for my Escort. I'm afraid the clip might get knocked off by the nearby safety chain hook. For now I will use my old pin and clip and try to find a new one with a hole for the clip. 207215

Great drawbar, although I ended up using a different one due to what I decided to pull. One thing I would say to improve, is that the clip should be a lot stronger. (seemed a bit easy to pull out) 569399

Well a draw bar is a draw bar but Etrailer delivered mine in two days at half the price of my local store who claimed it wasn't possible to get a 9" drawbar with a 2 1/8" height, which is what I need for my motorcycle trailer. I also bought my Draw Tite hitch for my Mazda3 at Etrailer and that arrived in less than a week and fit the car perfectly. Excellent hardware as well. 65438

I installed the trailer wiring and a friend helped install the hitch. Etrailer website is excellent. I got the right items on time and the fit is better than my wife’s dealer installed hitch. Videos on the etrailer site are clear and correct. One caveat, don’t try installing the hitch without at least one other person and having a way to lift the car(we used ramps) is a great help. The only possible way etrailer could be any more helpful is if they could recruit some local shops that would be willing to do the installation. I especially like having my wiring in the passenger compartment when not in use. It keeps it out of the Salt here in the northeast. 690056

Ask the Experts about this Draw-Tite Ball Mounts

Do you have a question about this Ball Mount?

  • What Drawbar Length Should be Used on 2018 Subaru Crosstrek?
  • The end of the receiver on Draw-Tite # 36644 is about even with the back of your 2018 Subaru Crosstrek, as you can see in the accompanying photo. So without having to worry about any clearance issue and Draw-Tite drawbars # 3592 and # 3593 are the same in every way except for length, the truth is neither of them are "better" and you will be fine with either option. Both drawbars come with a pin and clip, so the only other thing you'd need is a hitch ball, # 19256 for a 1-7/8" ball or #...

I tried looking up the capacity for it online and most places say it wasn't listed or it's not rated for any towing. So I really wouldn't feel comfortable telling you that your vehicle could tow a 1,500 lb trailer. Especialy on the hills you describe. • Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 2014 Nissan Versa Note
  • I recommend the Draw-Tite I hitch # 24909 as the towing capacity is 2,000 pounds and will have a maximum tongue weight of 200 pounds. It's corrosion resistant and the fully welded steel construction ensures great strength and durability. A pin and clip is included with this Draw-Tite hitch # 24909 and if you plan on doing any light duty towing, I recommend the ball mount # 3592, 2-inch hitch ball # 19258 or 1-7/8 hitch ball # 19256 and wiring by Tow Ready # 118582. • As long as the total weight and tongue weight of the loaded trailer you plan on towing is less than the weight capacities for the Draw Tite hitch part # 24747 and the towing capacities listed in the owners manual for your 2006 Ford Mustang GT you would be fine. • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 1997 Volkswagen Jetta
  • We do indeed have a hitch for your 1997 Volkswagen Jetta. I'd recommend the Draw-Tite Class I hitch, part # 24594. The Draw-Tite hitch attaches to the frame rails, rather than the trunk pan, which is a more secure installation in my opinion. The hitch would make an excellent attachment point for a 2 bike rack (Class I hitches aren't rated for more than two bikes) or for towing a small trailer. You'll want to check with your owner's manual or with VW about the towing capacity of the vehicle....
