Video Transcript for The Low-Down on the 1-7/8" Hitch Ball

Today, we'll be reviewing part number 19257. This is the Tow Ready Hitch Ball with the 1-7/8-inch ball diameter, has a medium shank, and it's rated at 2000 pounds. The diameter of our shank is going to measure 3/4 inch, so in selecting a ball mount, you need to make sure that it has a ball hole diameter of at least 3/4 inch. Our shank length is going to measure 2-3/8 inches, and this is designed to fit drawbar thicknesses of 3/8 inch to 1-1/4 inches, and our hitch ball has a capacity of 2000 pounds. Now, it has a really nice chrome-plated finish, so it's going to stand up well against corrosion and rust, and it also provides wrench flats on each side of the ball at the base. That way, we can securely grip it and torque it down to the specifications from the manufacturer. The way this would work is you would take your hitch ball, place it onto the ball mount, put the lock washer on, and then, you would thread on your nut. Then, all you would need to do is torque it down to the specifications listed by the manufacturer. That's going to complete today's review of part number 19257. This is the hitch ball with the 1-7/8-inch ball diameter from Tow Ready.

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for 2014 Chevy Impala
We have hitches that fit your 2014 Chevy Impala like the Draw Tite Class II hitch part # 36543 which is what I recommend. It installs easily and also gives you a mostly hidden solution. This is a bolt on hitch that does not require any welding. For trailer wiring our most reliable option is the Tekonsha # 118590 which I recommend for you. For a ball mount the # 36061 is the required part number and then for a ball # 19257.

  • Best Trailer Hitch Receiver for a 1999 Buick LeSabre
We currently only have one trailer hitch receiver for your 1999 Buick LeSabre which is the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 36216. This option will give you a Class II hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening. I have attached an installation video on a similar 1997 Buick LeSabre for you as well. If you can tell me what you will be using the hitch for I would be glad to offer some additional recommendations for you as well.

  • Choosing a Ball Mount with Enough Rise to Tow a Trailer Level with a 2014 Honda Civic Sedan
Yes, that makes perfect sense. What you are talking about is rise and drop. If the vehicle hitch is lower than the trailer coupler with the trailer level then you will need a ball mount with a rise to compensate. If the vehicle was higher the ball mount would need to have a drop. To figure out the rise you will need you can use the trailer jack to make the trailer level then measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. Then you would compare that to the hitch measurement taken...

I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. If you plan on doing some towing the recommended ball mount is # 3590. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19257 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258. And for trailer wiring you can use # 118730 to add a 4-Way flat to the rear of the vehicle. If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike...

  • How Hard is it to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2013 Cadillac XTS
The installation difficulty for Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 36538 for a 2013 Cadillac XTS is listed as a 5 out of 10. The scale is based on estimated time to install the hitch with each tick on the scale representing 10 minutes. So at a 5 it would take a professional approximately 50 minutes to perform the installation. We usually estimate a novice will take twice as long so that would be 1 hour and 40 minutes. According to the installation instructions for the Draw-Tite Class II trailer hitch, part # 36548, there is no cutting or modification if the bumper fascia required (see linked instructions). However, on 2011 and newer vehicles, there's a plastic appearance panel under the vehicle that would need to be removed and left off the vehicle. • Trailer Hitch Recommendation and Towing Capacity for 2003 Toyota Camry
I'd recommend confirming this with the owners manual of your 2003 Toyota Camry, but I was able to find a 2,000 lb towing capacity for your vehicle which should be adequate for a motorcycle trailer like you plan on towing. Now we have Class II hitches available for your vehicle like the Draw Tite part # 36336 which are rated higher than that at 3,500 lbs trailer weight, but you have to go with the lowest rated component in your tow setup as the overall capacity as you're only as strong...

  • Towing Capacity, Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2013 Toyota Corolla
I checked the owner's manual for the 2013 Toyota Corolla. It states that the maximum gross trailer weight the vehicle can tow is 1,500 pounds if the trailer has brakes or 1,000 pounds if the trailer does not have brakes. But only for models with a 2.4 liter motor. At 1,200 pound you are under that 1,500 pound limit for a trailer with brakes. But towing will put additional stress on the vehicle. For a trailer hitch I recommend # C11265. The recommended ball mount is # C45521. For a 1-7/8...

  • Trailer Hitch and Towing Capacity of a 2008 Chevrolet Impala
From my research the 2008 Chevy Impala can tow up to a 1,000 pound trailer. You want the loaded trailer to stay under 1,000 pounds. As far as not scraping the ground I'm not sure what you're referring to but if the trailer is not overloaded and is loaded with the tongue weight between 10 and 15 percent of the trailer's weight then you shouldn't have any issues. You also want to make sure the trailer is level when towing. As for the hitch receiver I recommend the Draw-Tite # 36407. ...

  • Can the 2014 Kia Soul + Tow a 1,200 Pound Trailer
I checked the vehicle owner's manual and all it says is that it is not recommended to tow a trailer with the 2014 Kia Soul (any model). But it also does not say you can't and there are numerous references to towing throughout the manual. So my interpretation is that you could tow a trailer but how heavy is unclear. I would say that at 1,200 pounds that is probably the max you would want to tow. Also, at 75 pounds that tongue weight is too light and that will make the trailer susceptible...

For a hitch then we have the Draw Tite part # 36538 which is a confirmed fit for your vehicle and would work well.
