Looking to refresh your galley, a rectangular sink makes an easy kitchen sink replacement. Check your cutout; it should be at least 3/4" smaller than the flange, and trimming or simple drain adjustments may be needed when switching from under-hung to drop-in or from single to double bowls. Options include stainless steel and white finishes, with some undermount installs needing separate hardware.
Both install styles are common. Verify whether undermount hardware is included—some sinks listed for undermount did not include brackets and needed extra hardware. For stone, use an adhesive suitable for granite. If converting from undermount to drop-in, expect to seal the rim and confirm the counter can support it.
Measure the cutout and the sink's overall size including the flange. A cutout about 3/4" smaller than the flange helps the rim cover the hole. Some swaps need the opening trimmed and the drain plumbing adjusted. Check corner radius and note if you're switching from an under-hung style to a drop-in.
Pick what fits your workflow. Single basin can feel roomier and replace two shallow bowls, while double basin adds separation but requires plumbing for two drains. Confirm your cutout and cabinet space, and plan for minor drain changes when switching configurations.
Stainless steel cleans up well and was very easy to install, with reports of no warping or discoloration even in an outside fish-cleaning setup. Some white plastic sinks stained and didn't come clean as easily. Check bowl depth too—shallower replacements may need a drain extension.
