Specs:

  • Maximum amperage:
    • Stop/turn lights: 4.2 amps per circuit
    • Tail lights: 7.5 amps per circuit
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located inside your trunk, behind the tail lights on both the driver's side and passenger's side. You will need to remove some interior trim or carpeting to access the harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed within your trunk.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Power Module

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Like the hitch works great bolted right up. I was told by etrailer that this hitch would not fit a TDi mode for some odd reason after watching installment videos on etrailers site and verifying my cars mounting points it was obvious that this hitch would fit directly on my TDi model. I went ahead and purchased and when arrived I was able to install hitch in less than 1 hr total! Provided wiring kit was plug and play just had to run one wire from battery to the trunk and power the receiver box. All items work great. Wish there was a 2” hitch option for this car though (my only complaint)

2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Installed both hitch and wiring this morning. Pretty straight forward - watch the videos to get a good idea, pre-install.

Only regret is I should have ordered the Jetta specific ball hitch at the same time as the hitch and wiring. Thought I could find it locally, but now will pay for shipping...

Correct harness for 2006 Jetta TDI, no issues . 1/2 hour install. Watch videos. Used rear cig lighter for power.

by:

Fantastic product. I wanted to add a trailer harness without cutting or splicing any of the car wiring. Installation was a breeze, and the system works like a charm. The one change I made was to add a plug for one of the lighter sockets rather than run a wire all the way up to the battery. My car has a pass-through from the trunk, so it's easy to plug in the power cord when I want to hook up the trailer.

by:
2006 Volkswagen Jetta

Fairly easy install after watching the YouTube video posted on website. The instructions were not the easiest to follow when it came to feeding a bolt and bracket through the frame due to lack of pictures to show which hole to use but otherwise looks clean. Highly recommend to watch install video. I love the wiring harness and the fact no splicing of factory wiring was required. I have not cut my original plastic cover on bottom of car to reinstall around the tow hitch yet but do intend to put back on the car.

by:

Product arrived 2 days later along with my trailer hitch; free shipping. Both videos were a godsend. It's so much easier to watch a video compared to a diagram. I wish more companies would follow suit. The pre-made harness with the plug-and-play comcept was a definate upgrade compared to the old style where you had to clip to existing wires. This way, it could always be removed with damaging the existing harness.

2006 Volkswagen Jetta

This kit made my Curt hitch install complete. With plug and play wiring adapters, 12 gauge power wire spool supplied, I had this wiring harness installed in no time. I recommend taking your time and removing all cargo panels and trim to install this harness. It makes for a seamless professional install. Thank you!

by:

I had purchased a wiring harness that was not custom made for my vehicle, but it was not up to the task, (or I was not sharp enough to get it done). The harness from E Trailer fit nicely and the customer support was excellent!

by:
2009 Volkswagen Jetta

This part works well. The installation to the tail lights themselves was very simple and only took about 10 minutes. Running the power supply from the battery to the trailer took some time (~2 hours) though. The difficult part was accessing the engine compartment through the firewall on the driver's side. Would be helpful to have more vehicle-specific pictures on this step. Otherwise, the installation process was seamless with a simple electrical wiring kit.

by:
2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I used the hitch and harness for about 6 months and it worked awesome! Could not be happier. I sold the car and really wish the hitch transferred to my New car because it was so useful

by:

When it showed up wasn't expecting the hitch to be so beefy! Excellent build quality and paint, this hitch is SOLID. The wiring kit I also ordered was very high quality and well built. I would definitely recommend any of etrailers products to anyone looking for hitches and accessories.

by:
2006 Volkswagen Jetta

The so called T-connectors fit the factory taillight plugs perfectly. The only irritating part of this install was running the wire from the unit to the battery at the front of the car.

It would be nice if the unit came with a 12V cigarette lighter adapter, as my car has a plug in the trunk. If that was included install would have taken about 5 minutes tops. I may actually make one now that I think of it.

2009 Volkswagen Jetta

I purchased this item for my 2009 Jetta TDI. I didn't feel like cutting my factory wires so I went with T-One Connector, plug and play great item and has everything what you need to do the job.

Volkswagen Jetta

The wiring kit works great. It was easy to install and came with everything needed. The video describes exactly how to install it. I have had It installed on my jetta for more than a year and it has been great.

by:

Arrived on schedule in good condition despite horrible packaging (parts of the Hitch were protruding from the box.
Installation was fairly straightforward. Images in instructions could have been bigger.

by:

Great product and worked well. Easy installation with great instructions and good price. Would highly recommend. So far no issues.

by:

Plug and play, very easy installation. The instructions say to run a wire directly to the positive terminal on the battery. I just spliced in the 12V socket in the trunk instead.

by:

Customer service is awesome. I have bought several trailer items from etrailer and that all worked and or fit. Thanks ahain.

by:
2010 Volkswagen Jetta

The trailer wiring kit was easy to install in my 2010 Jetta.

by:

If you can follow simple instructions, installation is no problem, complete.

by:

Spot on fitment, quick delivery, all the stuff was there! This is my second or third order and each has been just like this one.

by:

Great idea to make a plug-in trailer harness. Easy to install and works .

by:
2003 Dodge Ram Pickup

This is my third time using this product. This unit was purchased to replace an existing unit that failed after 2.5 years and being subject to 2 or 3 hard shorts. The product is easy to install and etrailer usually ships it faster than quoted.

by:

great product received it today and installed this afternoon. Very easy install except for routing the power wire to the battery. Took approximately 15 min. to install the system and 2 hrs. to route the power wire.

by:

Thanks , everything was great, fast delivery, great how to videos, great products and prices!

  • No-Splice Trailer Wiring Harness for 2014 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen
I do have a solution for you, but there isn't a custom plug-in T-Connector available for your 2014 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen. The Tekonsha # 118667, you were looking at, only fits the Sedan models of the Jetta. For a no-splice solution, you can use the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # 119250KIT. This universal kit uses sensors that simply clamp to your factory tail light wires so no cutting or splicing is required to install it. The ZCI sensors are able to read the signals...

There are only Class I trailer hitches available for the 2006 VW Jetta, see link. I recommend the Curt # C11474. The recommended ball mount is # 3593. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256. For a 2 inch ball use # 19258. This hitch has a 200 pound tongue weight capacity and 2,000 pound gross trailer weight capacity. Be sure to check the vehicle owners manual to determine the towing capacity of the vehicle. For trailer wiring, use # 118667. I have included a link to the wiring and hitch instructions...

The 5th generation Jetta and Rabbit were similar in some respects as you pointed out, but the tail light assemblies were different, so the Tow Ready T-One harness, # 118667, will not fit your 2007 VW Rabbit. We have trailer wiring harnesses that will work with your Rabbit, but none of them are the plug-in style wiring harnesses. I recommend the ZCI wiring harness, # 119250KIT. The ZCI harness is a great choice as it does not require any cutting or splicing of your vehicle's tail light...

We actually carry a trailer wiring harness for your 2006 Jetta that is a very easy installation. Take a look at the Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118667. This is what is called a T-One harness because it plugs in line with the vehicle tail light wiring so you will not have to splice into the vehicle wiring. I have included a link to the installation details for you. You will be able to perform this installation at home based on the easy T-one style connectors.
