Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

Tail Light T Connector Diagram

Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Plug and play. Installation video couldn't have made it any simpler. Everything was there to install. Perfect fit and measurements.

by:
2010 Dodge Nitro

Easy to install and the lights worked ... what more can you ask for?
I just hope it lasts longer than the previous two that were dealer installed and only lasted one year each.

by:
2008 Jeep Liberty

I hooked it up by myself just fine. Not clear on which directions to follow. The paper directions says to disconnect the negative battery, the online doesn't. I disconnected my battery on a 2008 Jeep Liberty and now I am having computer problems that the dealership cannot figure out. It says "error" on the odometer and might cost me a pretty penny. Very unhappy about that.

by:
2012 Jeep Liberty

The quick connections make the job easy. Would like to see a better video on how to run the hot wire to the front of vehicle. Great value for the money.

by:

This company has terrific products and the instructional videos make them a cinch to install.
They are now my go to company for all my trailer needs.

by:
2011 Jeep Liberty

The wiring harness was easy to install and cost less than half of what the dealer wanted to charge for a Mopar wiring harness. I would definitely recommend this product.

by:

Wow! This thing is awesome. Not only was it easy, it looks like a factory installed harness.
There are no cobbled wires or nasty splices anywhere.
Love it. The installation videos on this site make etrailer the best!
I hate hard to follow goofy written instructions.
P.S. If it had little shrink tubing for the battery wire splice that would have been even better.

by:

Fast easy install, only took about 20 minutes, product well made. Paper instructions and online video perfect support.
( suggest keep a flashlight close by, so when you drop the butt connector below the battery you can find it !)
Trailer light test perfect! Now my Maine Peapod boat and I are off to the Pacific, which is only 55 miles away. Look out Dungeness crab, Chinook Salmon, and steamer clams.

Everything went great. From ordering with verification it would fit, to speedy delivery. It showed up 2 days early and shipping was free. Everything showed up in one box. Installation was easy. I'm 59 and had to lay on my back with limited tools and it took about 2 hours to do everything solo. The longest part of the job was cleaning the threads out for the hitch on this 2007 year old Dodge Nitro. Even running the power line to the back from the battery was not that bad. It looks and works great like it came from the factory. Thank You!

All parts and wiring of the hitch I installed 1 year ago is still working flawlessly. I use it about once a week to take my lawn tractor 14 miles to and from a cutting job. Still happy with the decision!

Very nice wiring harness, the only thing is running the power wire from the battery to the back of the vehicle is a pain. Works perfect once installed!

by:
Jeep

Just finished installing this harness. Had to wait for a break in the weather. The rear plug in's were a snap to install along with the rear cross wiring. The rear ground was easy along with the converter box. Running the hot wire from the front to the converter box was a pain in the a--. The zip ties did not hold (most broke) and had to use my own. I used plastic wire conduit to prevent rubbing upon turns. Hope this works. Have not hooked the trailer up to check that end yet but all Jeep lights work correctly. A Vehicle lift would have helped greatly as under Jeep space was tight. Less ground clearance than my 2000.
Over all i'm pleased with all the items I purchased and will deal with them again if i need additional items. Excellent customer service and follow up.

your product works fine. if i need any further items, i know where to go. keep up the good work

by:

installation wasn’t quite as easy as I thought it would be. Running the power line from the front of the vehicle to the back was a bit of a challenge considering you don’t have many points to zip tie the wire in place or leaving it exposed to the elements. Also the ground wire was to short to be able to secure the converter box to anything solid so extending it before you begin would be a good idea. On the plus side, all my lights work!

Product is still working great even after trailering thru multiple snow storms and heavy slush conditions.

Save the extra time it takes to send a wire to the positive terminal of my TV, this was my second vehicle to install a wiring harness. This kit, along with etrailer.com's How To videos, is a breeze!

by:

The product worked great. The only suggestion I would have is the driver side in line connection should be two inches longer, where it plugs into the actual tail light. This would make it easier to fold into the area where the wires fit better.

I would recommend this product.

I do not have pictures but other than what I said very easy to work with .

Product is great except after towing 1 time now my passenger side rear turn signal will not work with the T-one wiring harness plugged in to that side, at first I thought it was a blown bulb , found bulb was good after I unhooked the rear passenger side t-one harness and plugged factory plug back in , the bulb is good, do I need to install a heavy flash relay? Or module? Help!!

Check the individual pins in the plugs on the harness and the plugs for the taillights of the vehicle, make sure they are seated all the way in. We saw this happen on another Dodge vehicle and had the exact same symptoms. If that does not solve it for you, there are some diagnosing procedures we can walk you through. Just give us a call at 1-800-298-8924.

Owning a few landscaping and irrigation companies in the past, I've always had guys that knew what they were doing when it came to this stuff. However, not this time. I looked up the parts and decided to call so that I'd be certain to get the right setup for what I needed. Out of the package I had no problems following the clear and concise instructions to completion. Plugged in my trailer, checked the lights...good. Camper battery and D.C. fridge operation while plugged in to harness...good. Went for a drive to test breaks with some minor adjustments as the instructions eluded to being necessary...all good. Very satisfied and would order again in a heart beat. Thank you for your excellent products and respective instructions.

this wiring harness was easy to install and is working just fine after a year on the road. I did have to run an extra wire to the brake light at the rear because the brake light did not work as per instructions said it would because of the way the jeep is wired. My was different then the earlier ones. etrailer is the best place to buy.

by:

I followed the insulation instructions [online] to installed my wire harness kit. 30 minutes later I was done. I also installed a Draw-Tite receiver hitch. Total install time for both units was just over an hour. Would recommend to a friend.

  • Diagnosing Ground Problem on Trailer Towed by 2008 Jeep Liberty
You are describing one of the classic symptoms of an insufficient ground connection. When you turn on the vehicle headlights and the running lights on the trailer come on, the system is pulling maximum amperage. If there is poor ground connection, this is when it will show itself. Make sure that the ground wire for the trailer connector on your Liberty is securely attached to clean metal on the vehicle chassis or frame. Check the connector on the trailer.
