Question:

Can this kit be used with a 2012 jeep liberty Im in desperate need of a quick fix as Im moving and the kit I ordered has not arrived

If you do not have a 7-way connector at the rear of your 2012 Jeep Liberty, I recommend the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, part # 118554. This requires no splicing or cutting for installation and will give you a 4-way connector on your Liberty. I have attached a link to an installation video for this harness on a 2012 Liberty you can check out.

Due to the wiring on your Liberty, and if it did not come with a towing package, a powered converter is required to protect the vehicle sensitive electronics on models not equipped with a tow package. The # HM48895 harness you referenced would not work for your Liberty in this case.

If you have the 7-way connector on your Liberty I recommend the Tow Ready Wiring, part # 118384. This simply plugs into the rear of your 7-way connector and allows you to still use the 7-way connector, while giving you a 4-way connector as well. I have attached a product review video for this harness.

When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the connections and helps prevent corrosion.
