Features to know about

Stay Level and Confident Under Load: 1,500-lb Rear Suspension Support

When you’re hauling gear or towing a trailer, rear-end sag can throw off steering, braking, and headlight aim. These SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs add up to 1,500 lbs of support at 50-percent compression to keep your ride level and steady. The microcellular urethane material cushions bumps, absorbs shocks, and helps your factory suspension handle the extra weight without bottoming out.

Comparison image showing SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs installed on a vehicle’s rear axle, with one spring uncompressed and the other compressed under load to illustrate suspension support and leveling performance.

Smooth Ride for Every Trip: Progressive Load Control

Whether the bed’s empty or packed full, these springs adjust naturally to the weight you’re carrying. With light loads they compress easily for a softer ride, and with heavier loads they firm up—compressing as much as 80 percent—to give strong support. This progressive spring rate keeps driving smooth when unladen and stable when loaded so you can tow or haul without the jarring ride of stiffer setups.

Stay Steady in Crosswinds and Turns: Independent Spring Action

When a curve or uneven load tries to push you around, each SumoSpring works on its own side to keep things balanced. That independent action helps reduce body roll and sway so your vehicle feels planted through turns, crosswinds, or when pulling into a sloped driveway. It’s a solid confidence boost when hauling on winding roads or busy highways.

Lasting Strength Without the Upkeep: Durable Microcellular Urethane

Built from a closed-cell urethane that resists abrasion, oils, road salts, and UV rays, these springs hold up in real-world conditions from -25°F to 200°F. They compress vertically with minimal side expansion for a snug fit in tight spots and won’t get damaged by nearby parts. With no air lines to run or pressure to monitor, they’re completely maintenance-free once installed.

Simple Bolt-On Upgrade: No-Drill Installation

Adding suspension support doesn’t have to mean major garage time. The SumoSprings bolt right onto existing mounts with no drilling required. You’ll have a clean install that fits securely and gets you back on the road with better load control and comfort without any extra hassle.

First and foremost, etrailer provided excellent customer service throughout my experience trying to find the right SuperSprings support spring for my 23 GMC Canyon AT4X. In a nut shell there is a “for Gas engine” option (SSR-624-40 / SS57PV) and “for Diesel engine” option (SSR-216-47 / SS75FR). In my opinion the “for Diesel engine” option (SSR-216-47 / SS75FR) fits better on the Gas AT4X. Following the descriptions, I initially purchased the “for gas model” (SSR-624-40 / SS57PV), but while test fitting I noticed a “pinky” sized gap between the provided ubolt and the bottom of the axle (as seen in image). The lower shock mounting plate appeared to be the cause of this, which I can only assume is different on the AT4X than it is on the other models (shocks are outboard on the AT4X, and inboard on other models). I reached out for some guidance and SuperSprings suggested there was no problem with the gap. However, while waiting for their reply I had already decided to give the “for Diesel engine” model (SSR-216-47 / SS75FR) a try, which directly replaces the factory bump stop using factory hardware (no need to use the included brake line spacer on my application). This eliminated the ubolt gaps, and any concerns I had about reliability. etrailer returned my original purchase without any hassle. Whether my concerns were valid or not, I hope this review will save some time for other AT4X owners.

This only pertains to the order, shipping speed, and install as I have not put a heavy load on these sumo Springs yet but I feel like that's a foregone conclusion based off the reviews already. The ordering process, the shipping, and the installation was unbelievably easy. I kept rereading the instructions thinking this can't be right because it was so simple. I looked at the YouTube video and realized it is that simple! So happy with the ordering process, the quality of the initial product I opened, and how simple it was to put on the jeep.

That is the beauty of SumoSprings! Super easy to install and once they're on you can forget they're there! Are you planning on towing something with your Jeep that you want extra support for?

@ClaireH yes Ms Claire. I plan to put a truck camper on the Jeep (that weighs in the 500-1000 lbs range). My payload is 1700 lbs so I know a camper of the weight will be significant my truck. Already ordered a stiffer rear anti-sway bar as well.

@Justin That sounds like a good plan! These SumoSprings plus the sway bar should be more than enough to handle the weight of your truck bed camper.

2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
I put these on a 2013 Jeep JK (not lifted) that tows a 3000 lb trailer in rough terrain; Total game changer.

These replaced the anemic factory stops (which had completely disintegrated) and make it impossible to 'bottom out' on the dips and holes that use to beat up the suspension. I got nearly all of my vertical travel back and the vehicle now sits almost level under high tongue load.

They go on pretty easy. I suggest sliding in one side, and then using a wooden dowel and hammer to pop the other side in the stock receiver cup.

Highly recommended. These are a MUST if you are towing a trailer (with a medium sized SUV) of any significant weight or if you just want to be able to bounce hard without bottoming out your suspension. I am likely going to get the front suspension version now as well.
Wish I knew these existed sooner.

2025 Promaster 2500 159” wheelbase. Backed the van on couple 2” X 6 “ easier sliding under. Sprayed PB Blaster on top of bumper spring, using a 16” Channel Lock, easy off with the old. At that time I jacked the rear end to allow clearance. One side at a time. Took longer for set up then the job. I used the long bolt with two spacers. Have not drove yet, though looking for great results.

2000 Nissan Leaf
Great product! Bought these for my 2000 7.3 f250. Didn't want something that is constantly active like ras or hellwig since my leaf springs are new and rated for 4k pounds. Installed these in 1 hr super simple only hard part was the factory bump stop on driver side was a pain. Didn't install the puck they give due to height of truck and I knew more or less at what point I wanted them engaging. I haul cattle to shows/ auctions or between pastures with my 24ft big bend and these things actually provided a smoother ride in my truck loaded then unloaded.they do a great job with the added support and are better than an overload spring with handling sway and providing a smooth ride loaded. Just wish I could use the 3k pound rated ones on this truck and my dually but doesn't fit if you have a gooseneck sadly so will probably have to go with timbs on the drw. Over all great product can't speak to longevity but solid for the time being. And customer service with this company is excellent if you have a question or problem they're on top of it...hope they pay them as well as the reputation they're building for them.

I put a set of 47s on my Silverado 1500 and towed my dump trailer that weighed 6000 pounds the way I had it loaded for 50 miles on all kinds of roads and it worked well. I didn’t use the spacers and the truck still rides like it did before the install.

Glad the Sumos are helping make your loads easier to tow!

by:
Jeep Gladiator Mojave - swapped out the rear stock bump stops with these. High quality parts. Just jack up the truck enough to give you room to work with and put in your jack stands, no need to remove the wheels. I look forward to seeing how they do with towing! Hopefully I can update my review here afterwards. Check out the gap difference in the pictures. Should touch sooner during normal drive conditions and hopefully help reduce some trailer squat and help towing to be smoother.

Opted for the Blue 1000lb Sumo's w/spacer over the 1500lb Black ones. 1500 Silverado Max Tow & reduces squatting by 2" on a 1000lb+ tongue weight. Ride is still good, but you can feel the Sumo's engage over large dips or bumps which is not an issue for me.

I got the springs installed last week and wanted to have a drive time before I wrote the review.

The height of the springs are perfect for my 2016 Tacoma, They keep the truck stable and nearly eliminate the body roll I had before installing them. I am heading to the mountains in a couple weeks, so I will update the review when I get back. That way I will know for sure the body roll is gone and the truck is stable on the winding mountain roads.

The springs installed in no time at all and since I had the rear end apart, I decided to add the leveling blocks at the same time, to keep the truck from squatting with the gear I haul around with me.

The guys at etrailer are great. And while I did not call them to discuss this item, they have been very helpful in the past with all my questions.

Below are pictures of before, a couple comparisons and after. Sorry if they come out sideways.

These Sumo Springs were a great addition to my Tacoma and well worth the money, IMHO.

The springs are working exactly as expect. I have need up to the mountains numerous times and to Monerary to the Sea Otter bike fest. They have reduced the body roll and helped keep the truck stable on the mountain roads or when loaded down for camping. Im very pleased I added these Sumo Springs to my Tacoma.

Got them installed no issues the reason for 4 stars is one side touches top of axle the other side does not no one could tell me if this was right or wrong also haven't pulled 5th wheel yet to feel the ride or handling so we will see thanks

Definitely helps with squat on '24 F250 from boat trailer tongue weight. These do come with a plate to avoid uneven contact or wear.
I mounted using all spacers , stock is same unless speed bumps or large dips, u feel the stiffness/contact of sumo as expected. May take one spacer out .
Super easy to install , better than leaking bags.
Time will tell how they last

2021 Nissan Titan
I had installed this model SumoSpring on my 2019 4Runner and had great results when towing the camper I had at the time. They greatly reduce the bounce when going over dips in the road at highway speeds. Now I have a 2021 Titan and a bigger heavier camper. I expect the same great results on the Titan. Installation was pretty straight forward and took about a half hour. The size difference between the OEM bump stops and the SumoSprings alone should give a better ride when towing my camper.

I bought a 2027 RAM 1500 to tow my 20' 5000lb Forest River. Easy to install. I did it in my driveway in 1.5hrs. Some of the bolts were dificult to access due to mufflers etc but a short wrench worked well. When I first hooked up my trailer I had 4" of rear bed setelment. With springs installed I had less than 2". Front lift is about 1/2". Did not compromise driving comfort and appeared to dampen trailer "flex" on RxR tracks etc. My right handled very well on a trip from S Florida to N Georgia on Interstates and secondary roads.

2020 Ford Ranger
Had them installed and hooked up the trailer. Much improved support from sag due to tongue weight. Kept the vehicle very level to within 3/4" higher than front. Perfect rake and comfortable during unloaded or loaded driving. OEM bump stops really didn't do anything in comparison. Shop had to work a bit harder to get OEM stops off but install of these SomoSprinhs was simple. Glad I went this route.

  • Is There a 2017 Chevy Colorado Air Bag Kit?
Hey Vince, thanks for reaching out! **UPDATE IN COMMENT SECTION** The Air Lift Ride Control # AL59533 won't fit your 2017 Chevy Colorado with the diesel engine because of something that has to do with the frame of your truck being in the way. I don't have any photos or anything, but that's why Air Lift lists it as not fitting. There aren't any air bag kits that work, but the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SS75FR are confirmed to fit with the diesel engine and they are the next...

Hi Dave; Timbrens work well for some applications but I don't think the # TABSOSR is going to be the best option for your application. These would be better if you're strictly off-roading frequently. Instead, I recommend the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SS75FR. The SumoSprings will give you the added support you're looking for and help with body roll and sway while towing your boat trailer. They also aren't harsh like the Timbrens tend to be so you won't have a terrible everyday...

Yes, it is possible and I have a great suspension upgrade for your 2023 Chevy Colorado. I recommend the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs item # SS37PV. These helper springs replace your rear bump stops and will provide you with an additional 1,800 lbs of support. SumoSprings work off a system called progressive load control. This is due to the fact that you are protected by the Federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act which states that if you take your vehicle in for a warranty repair they must honor the warranty unless the aftermarket component you added is what caused the issue. • Can I Use SumoSprings On My 2019 Chevrolet Colorado Diesel With Lift Blocks or Lift Shackles?
I recommend using a lift block with the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SS75FR on your 2019 Chevrolet Colorado Diesel. The lift blocks will add the lift between your leaf springs and the axle allowing your factory suspension which the SumoSprings were designed for to continue to operate as normal. If you used lift shackles it would raise the leaf spring away from the frame causing the SumoSprings to not contact the frame when the suspension begins to flex.
