Heavy trailer or cargo loads can leave your van squatting and less controlled. These air springs add up to 5,000 lbs of leveling support to reduce sag, sway, and bottoming, while internal jounces let you run 0 psi unloaded.
Typical Alpha HD Pro installation shown. Vehicle-specific brackets vary by application.
When trailer weight or a heavy cargo load settles your van onto its rear suspension, squat and extra body movement can make the van feel less controlled. The two adjustable rear air springs add supplemental support to help reduce sag, sway, and bottoming while letting you tune the suspension to the weight you're carrying. With up to 5,000 lbs of load-leveling capacity, you can add only the pressure the load calls for instead of treating maximum pressure as the default. Your van can sit closer to level and remain more controlled while carrying or towing substantial weight.
A van that tows one day and runs empty the next doesn't need the same rear-suspension support all the time. Internal jounce bumpers let you add air when your trailer or cargo is aboard, then reduce the air springs to 0 psi once that load comes off. Those internal jounces also protect the air springs against bottoming when suspension travel is used up. You get the support your van needs under weight without having to keep air in the bags simply to protect them when you're driving empty.
Suspension hardware lives where road spray, dirt, and weather reach it, so material choices matter underneath your van. This kit uses braided stainless steel air lines along with stainless steel fittings, Schrader valves, roll plates, and mounting hardware to add corrosion resistance throughout key parts of the system. That extra durability is focused where it matters, helping the hardware you rely on for load support and pressure adjustment stand up to the environment beneath a working van.
You'll start by measuring your van's stock ride height and checking tire-to-frame clearance before removing the factory jounce bumpers and axle strike blocks, with rear-wheel removal optional if you want more working room. The sway bar is temporarily disconnected during that process, then reinstalled before the air spring assemblies mount between the frame and axle using the existing jounce-bumper retainers up top and axle straps below. Some wiring may need to be unclipped temporarily for bracket clearance as everything is positioned and aligned. Once the springs are secured, you'll install the passenger-side exhaust heat shield, then route the braided stainless steel air lines with enough clearance and slack for suspension movement before mounting the Schrader valves where they're easy to reach. Adding air bags is a job experienced DIYers can handle, but if you would rather leave it to a professional, we can help you find an installer near you.
The included Schrader valves give you everything you need to adjust the air springs manually, but pulling out an external compressor can get old if your towing or hauling setup changes frequently. You can add a Pacbrake Bravo Wireless Air Control Kit (sold separately) to adjust pressure from your phone, check live pressure, and save presets for loads you come back to regularly. Also, you'll be able to choose between filling both air springs together or controlling them independently when the load isn't even side to side. It's an optional upgrade, but one that makes the adjustable part of an air-spring system much easier to use regularly. And it's not the only solution available. There are a variety of compressor options from Pacbrake that might be the perfect fit for your setup.

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look together at this Pacbrake Alpha HD Pro Rear Axle Airbag Suspension Fit with internal jounce bumpers and stainless steel hardware. Now, this has been designed to fit your 2007 to current Sprinter 2500 and 3500, and it is important that you go through our Vehicle Fit Guide here at etrailer. Input the year, make, and model of your vehicle. And because this does.. This is going to fit Mercedes-Benz Sprinters, Dodge Sprinters, and so on, so it is important that you go through our Fit Guide just to make sure that your particular Sprinter is going to be a match for this kit.
So again, enter year, make, and model and answer any other questions that it might have for you, and let the Fit Guide confirm the fitment for you. And if these aren't gonna work for you, the Fit Guide will point to something comparable that will work for you. Now, as you, no doubt, know, when the load gets heavy, your Sprinter is going to need more than just the factory rear springs hanging on for dear life. These airbags are gonna give you up to 5,000 pounds of rear axle support, keeping your Sprinter level and steady, even if the trailer that you have hooked up to it is loaded, the cargo area is packed, and the miles are long. So, with this kit, you're not gonna have to worry about rear end sag anymore, throwing off your braking or steering, or your headlights potentially pointing up into the sky.
Now, bottoming out doesn't just feel rough, it can actually wreck your airbags. That's why this system has included jounce bumpers inside of each bag, as you can see there on that example cutaway there on your screen. So the idea is even with no air pressure, your suspension has a built-in safety net. You're gonna be able to safely run at zero PSI when unloaded, which means no harsh rebound, just that smooth factory-style ride. So as you can see, I kind of have this loosely put together here in the way that the brackets and the roll plates are going to sit on.
And under the airbags, you are going to get these stainless steel air lines. Of course, they're more durable and resistant to wear compared to the standard rubber lines. You're also going to get these stainless steel roll plates, which are gonna help protect the airbags along with Schrader valves. So, you're gonna be able to easily inflate or adjust the air pressure using a standard air source. Now, on your screen, I'm popping up a few photos there.
The top photo is going to be the standard hardware and brackets that are gonna come with this kit, but the bottom picture is the upgrade kit, the stainless steel upgrade kit that you're getting as well. So, I did not have room on my tabletop to lay out every piece of hardware that you're gonna get with this kit. So I've got some pictures there, just to give you an idea of what you're going to get in total. You're not going to use every piece of hardware that you're going to get, but I did want you to be aware of what you are going to be receiving with this kit. The stainless steel components are gonna be a big upgrade for you because they are built, it is designed to last in those harsher conditions. As you know, stainless steel resists rust and corrosion better than the standard material, so it's gonna be stronger and less prone to damage. So, you're gonna be less likely to deal with leaks or wear over time. Now, these airbags are gonna give you full control over your ride height and firmness with adjustable air pressure from five to 100 PSI. So, for instance, if you're hauling a fifth wheel, or a full bed of gravel, or a full trailer of gravel, you're gonna just crank that pressure up. And then when you're unloaded and heading home, just drop it back down for a softer ride. These sprains are built with one-inch-thick, corrosion-resistant end caps. They're reinforced with 20 internal support wires, giving you that maximum strength under load. And these brackets are precision-laser-cut that are designed to bolt cleanly to your Sprinter's existing mounting points without welding or drilling into the frame. They're powder-coated. Pacbrake is one of my favorite air spring kits that we carry here, just because, in my opinion, every component is premium. It's very high quality and I'm very impressed with their kits. Now, as I mentioned, this is gonna give you up to 5,000 pounds of low-leveling support, but I do wanna make you aware of the fact that Air Springs do not actually increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity. So, you wanna make sure that you're not exceeding your manufacturer's recommended weight limit. One final note, if you want help with installation, on this product page underneath the photo section, we have a link that will take you to our installer locator. So, if you click that link, answer the questions that it has for you, that locator will find an installer in your area that etrailer has partnered with to do the work for you. If you happen to have any other questions, let us know. We wanna make sure that you're getting exactly what you need. Well, again, my name's Andy. Thank you for joining me.

I am very sorry to hear that these did not work for you John. I see on both the Pacbrake site and our site they are listed to not work with the Adaptive Ride Control, do you have that on your Silverado 1500? I am trying to get to the bottom of this so I can get the information corrected on both sites if needed.
