Specs:
The Paramount padded tailgate bike rack is a quick and easy alternative to fork blocks. It saves you from having to remove the front wheels on your bikes and from drilling into your truck bed. And if you normally use a hitch rack, but will be using your hitch to tow, this rack lets you bring up to 5 bikes as well. Spacing blocks prevent bike-to-bike contact, hook-and-loop straps secure your bikes to the rack, and the center flap provides access to your tailgate handle.
There are 6 spacing blocks along the outer side of the rack. These blocks provide stabilization for your fork stanchions to prevent bike-to-bike contact. To set up your bikes, just stagger the front wheels over the tailgate hanging outside of the truck and place the fork stanchions between the blocks.
A series of sewn-on loops along the top of the rack provide anchor points for your bikes. Use the included hook-and-loop straps to secure your bikes to the tie-down points to prevent your bikes from shifting during transport. Additional straps (sold separately) are available if you lose one.
Easy Access to Tailgate Handle
The center flap lets you access your tailgate handle without having to remove the pad so you can lower your tailgate. The flap secures with a hook-and-loop fastener.
Mesh Pockets
There are 2 sewn-in mesh pockets that let you conveniently store your biking gear. They're great for storing helmets, gloves, and wet or sweaty clothes that you don't want inside your truck.
Heavy-Duty Construction
The rack is made of heavy-duty, ballistic tarpaulin. A high-density foam core protects your tailgate and your bikes from dents and dings. The fleece lining provides a soft, smooth surface that won't scratch or scuff your tailgate.
Simple Installation
To install the rack just slide it over your tailgate and use the 3 integrated tie-down straps wrap to secure it in place.

Adam: What's going on, everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Swagman Paramount Tailgate Pad on our 2020 Ram 1500.So if you're really looking for an alternative to get your bikes to and from the destination, maybe just upgrade from throwing them in the bed of your truck, this is going to be the most cost effective way to do so. It's not going to require you to put anything on your hitch and add a little bit of length to the back of your truck. And of course, with the truck being a little bit taller, it's probably not the best idea to put it up on the roof.So right now, we can actually go ahead and put five bikes on here. It is going to be a little cramped, but with the 54 inches that we have here, it's going to be good enough. This will fit on mid-sized trucks and also just your full-sized trucks.
Other than that, let's go ahead and just show you how it interacts with our bikes. We have some pads here. That's going to protect your tailgate from any damage. And it kind of fits pretty nicely with this front tire here, kind of sits in that little groove, and the rest of it sits on the pad. Also, we are going to have hook-and-loops that are going to connect them. They're not super, super tight, but to be honest, these things are not going anywhere.
The more bikes you put in here, the more stable they're going to be because they're going to be right next to each other. They will be making a little bit of contact but nothing to damage your bikes. It's pretty simple to take the bikes off and get them unconnected. We've just got to take these hook-and-loop straps, and that's about it. But I do see just having an extra set of hands just to help get this bike out of the truck bed and onto the ground easy. We're going to be able to use the tailgate just as we we're before. All we've got to do is just click, fold that up.
It's not going to affect her camera. You might see a little bit of this bottom part, but you can tighten it up, suck it up a little bit more, but you're not going to see much, if any at all. It's nice because the whole inside is going to be made of this nice soft material so we don't have to worry about it scratching anything. We can also just hose it off or something like that whenever it gets a little gross underneath there. The less debris and stuff on our tailgate is going to result in the least amount of scratches and stuff. So that's always nice having that little gap there so we can use our tailgate, and you can even lower it down if you wanted to use these little pockets for something.
Maybe you're riding the trails and your feet get all wet, you don't want to put those stinky shoes in your car. So you can go ahead, put them in here. They'll dry on the way home. Done deal.First things first, just go ahead and take the sides with our little pouches here, and that's going to go on the inside of our tailgate. Put it like this. And then what we're going to do is take these down here and feed it in between the tailgate and the bed. There's not a really great way to do this, just whatever works best for you. It's kind of easier if you lift up the tailgate a little bit to make that gap a little bit bigger. So just pull these through for all three, go in one side, and go through the other. I'm not going to tighten this down all the way, just get it secure for now, and we'll do the others. Now it's time to rotate our pad. We want to make sure the big flap is going to be right where the tailgate lever is. Once we get it all centered and lined up, go ahead and tug on these, get them nice and tight. And now we're ready for some bikes. Now we can take our hook-and-loop strap, wrap it around our frame and tighten it down just like that. And I'm going to go ahead and grab another bike.Well, everyone, that just about does it for a look at the Swagman Paramount Tailgate Pad on our 2020 Ram 1500.

This padded rack lets you carry 5 bikes on your truck bed tailgate. It's a great alternative to fork blocks, it doesn't require drilling into your truck bed, and you don't have to remove your bikes' front wheels. It has been great for 5 or 6 bikes, easy to put on. A little tight and depending on the type of bike it won't line up in the designated spot but I can still velcro the bikes to keep them secure. Would definitely recommend the Swagman. It can be put on with one person but 2 is easier, one in the bed and one threading it through. The same is true for loading/unloading bikes, one in the bed of the truck and one handing the bikes up. I have definitely done it by myself so we're loaded and ready to go camping when the boys get home from school.
Really like this bike rack for my truck. Easy to put on. Handles the Mtb bikes well.
I've been using this for a couple of years now. I mainly use it when we go camping. It's been great for carrying the 4 bikes we have. The bikes never have shifted/moved while in transit. The tailgate pad is a little tricky to put on (I lay under the truck and fish the strap up to my son). I've installed the mat by myself but it's way easier with 2 people.
Well made, but you need to do something about the 3 straps...and how you can push a wet noodle up through the gap. Gonna have to put a sting down, and attach it to each stap to pull them up.
