Inno Velo Gripper Truck Bed

The space-saving Velo Gripper bike carrier lets you transport 1 bike in your truck bed. Because your bike sits along the side of your truck bed, you'll have plenty of room for everything else you need to haul. This carrier mounts easily onto the side rail of your truck bed, and ratcheting straps hold a bike of any shape or size by the seat stay and fork. Built-in D-rings act as tie-down spots so that you can secure your bike with a cable lock or secure other cargo with a bungee cord or tie-down strap.

Hassle-Free Bike Mounting

Inno Bike Mounting

Two ratcheting straps on adjustable rods hold one bike of any shape or size by the fork and seat stay - no need to remove your front wheel to mount your bike. The rods rotate so the holders can grab your bike from any angle. Rotating the rods also allows you to adjust the amount of space between your bike frame and the side of your truck bed. That way, you can position your bike close enough to the side of your truck bed to save space but not so close that your bike and truck bed make contact.

Simple Truck-Bed Installation

Inno Bike Mounting

The Velo Gripper installs without drilling onto your truck bed. To install, place the included protective plates on top of your truck bed rail to prevent the mounting brackets from scuffing or scratching the paint. Then, position the mounting brackets over the protective plates. Tighten the clamps down with the eye bolts to complete installation.

Space-Saving Design

Inno Space Saving

Your bike will rest on both wheels in its normal upright position on the inside of your truck bed. This mounting style leaves most of your truck bed open to carry other gear. You can position your bike at the front or the rear of your truck bed to help reduce the potential for the bike to roll. This not only reduces pressure on the Velo Gripper but also saves space in your truck bed.

D-Ring Attachments

Inno D Ring

Each clamp has an attached D-ring that enables you to use tie-down straps with or without your bike mounted. Loop a a cable lock with a maximum diameter of 3/4" (sold separately) through the D-rings or the eye bolts and through your bike frame to lock the carrier to your truck and your bike to the carrier. A 5' - 6' long cable is recommended for locking your bike and both clamps. When you're not transporting a bike, these D-rings make great tie-down spots for securing other gear in your truck.

Video Transcript for Inno Velo Gripper Truck Bed Bike Rack Review

Today we'll be taking a look at Inno Velo Gripper. This is a single bike rack for the bed of your truck, part number INRT201, also available for truck beds with c-channels, part number INRT202. The Inno Velo Gripper is a great solution to have for carrying your bike in the bed of your truck. It's going to free up 90% of your bed for carrying additional cargo. Rather than just having a bike laid loose in the bed of your truck, this actually allows you to clamp it to your side rails, keeping it up and out of the way. The system itself is adjustable to accommodate just about any size and style of bike.

There are no tools required, and the Gripper features a d-ring that's going to allow you to loop straps through for additional security. An arm extends off of the clamp and features a ratcheting strap that will go around the front forks and the downtube of your bike. Another great feature about this is you don't have to remove the front tire of your bike. Now that we've gone over some features of the Velo Gripper I'm going to go ahead and show you how to get it installed in your truck bed. The bike rack comes with two rubber-coated plates. These are going to go here on the rail.

That's going to help protect your truck. We're going to want to space them at appropriate length for the bike that you will be carrying. The bike we're working with is 21" from the downtube to the front forks, and that's where we're going to be gripping it with the Velo Gripper. I'm going to go ahead and place these 21" apart center on center. Then I'm going to take our clamps. Our clamps come with two pieces: the actual clamp itself that grips to the bed of your truck, as well as this portion here which features the strap that is going to grab onto your bike.

What we'll want to do is turn the plastic knob to loosen up our clamp. That gives us enough room to fit it underneath the bed, underneath the side rail of the bed, and up over top of our protector. As you can see, as we turn the knob here, the plastic lever, that's going to raise this portion up underneath our bed, creating a firm grip on our side rail. Once we feel like we've got it pretty tight we'll actually use this thumb hole here just to get it a little tighter. We'll go ahead and repeat the same process with our second clamp. A real nice thing to know about this system is that once you've got it installed for the first time, it's easily adjustable for other bike sizes and you don't have to take it back off.

You can simply loosen up these levers here and then slide it back and forth along your bed rail to fit different size bikes. Whether you're hauling a child's bike or a larger mountain bike, or maybe a woman's frame bike, this is going to work great for all of those. Now let's go ahead and load up our bike. To do that we'll simply undo our straps here, bring our bike in. We'll take the strap, wrap it around our downtube, and just tighten it up. Here at the front we're actually going to go around our forks. Go around and through. Just like that, our bike is in place and we're ready to hit the road. With our bike all loaded up, let's go ahead and take it out on our test course to show you how it performed. First we'll enter our slalom, that's going to show you the side to side movement of the bike just as if you we're making evasive maneuvers or cornering. Next we'll go into our alternating speed bumps. This is going to show you the twisting motion of the bike as if we we're going over potholes or uneven pavement. Finally we'll hit our solid bumps. This is going to show you the up and down movement of the bike as if we we're going in and out of driveways or hitting speed bumps. That's going to do it for today's look at the Inno Velo Gripper, part number INRT201 standard bed, and part number INRT202 for beds with c-channels. .

This is my second set. Great way to hold a bike on a truck bed. I like not having to take the front wheel off. It is very easy to set up and very stable when done. 504973

Does a great job holding bikes up and organizing the bed of the truck. Straps fit round tubing without issue. I used foam pipe insulation to protect more modern forks/downtube shapes from strap rubbing. 607168

This was just what we were looking for. When we go camping and pull the camper the bike can ride upright and not fall over. Keeps it out of the way of the other things we tote in the back with it. Thanks for a wonderful product. 606571

By chance do you know if they make extensions for these bike racks? I have a Leer topper and I have to take the handlebars off in order to use this rack I just purchased from you. 589486

Comments
Unfortunately, Inno doesnt make anything that would move the bikes inward so the handlebars wont interfere with the side of the topper. Instead of completely removing the handlebars, you should be able to loosen the bolt at the stem, and rotate the bars enough that theyll fit.

This is my second purchase from etrailer and both have been seamless. Great communication, pkg arrives in its' original box expertly wrapped inside a shipping box. Product arrived as claimed and is more heavy duty than I'd have thought. etrailer pricing is excellent and less than other online sites! Easy install. Most difficult part of the install was finding the "voids" in the 2018 F250 bedside allowing the handle to tighten/loosen w/o rubbing the bedside. Still only took about 15 min. Great product from a reputable distributor-highly recommend both! 613375

The 201 bike holder is top quality. It is built strong, with metal components. After testing my first one, I did not hesitate to buy another for my wife's bike. Installation takes about 5 minutes and will remain where you put it. To secure them, simply run a cable through some loops. I recommend this solution for those cyclists who don't want to drill holes in their truck beds. BTW, shipping was fast! 542857

These clamps are beefier than expected, easy to install, and hold bike very firmly in place. One drawback is that with my bike and truck size, the hold down strap on the seat bar hits where the derailleur is clamped to the bar. So I had to raise the RT201 with a small wood block. 516714

Great product that works as advertised. I have a 2018 f150 5.5’ box. I have used this twice to transport my bike and the bike is really secured well. I have to leave my tailgate down as the bike comes out of the bed maybe an inch or 2. The wheel well in my bed does slightly get in the way when screwing in the eye bolt but once in place it hold the bike perfectly. I do use a stretch cord also due to the fact that the tailgate must be left down. 612723

Excellent hold on the bike with no movement. Easy to add cables and locks for security. Only downside is it takes a minute to break down if you need to remove it. Also mark the spot on the bed rail so you know exactly where to put it back without measuring. 734687

My Inno Velo Gripper Bike Rack for Truck Beds - Clamp On, are sooo easy to attach and use! I wanted easy and user friendly and I received both. When I have a second bike in my truck bed, I had to lay both of them down and half way on top of each other and hope I wouldn't damage them on the trip. I wanted a rack that I could use when needed and not keep it installed in my truck. I can install my Inno's when I'm ready to go on a ride, and when I'm done I uninstall so my truck is available to haul my kayak's without the bike racks being in the way. It takes me about 5 mins. to install both sets that I own. I AM I VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER! 722441

Great product money well spent! Little bit of a challenge to figure out how I was going to make it work with a pickup with a toolbox in the back especially having a Fat Tire Bike but the flexibility of the clamps makes it very easy to find a location to hold up my bike. Looks dope and works great easy on easy off. Note to self when the clamps are on Mark the edges with a marker or paint pen so this way when you take the clamps off you can put them right in the same spot and you don't have to worry about figuring out where they go again 670153

I like the product. Easy and quick to get bikes on and off the racks. Would have rated it higher but for a couple of things that I think could use improvement. 1. The rubber pads on the brackets fell off rather easily causing wear on bike frame. Look at using better adhesive. That’s what I did. 2. I cannot install the racks without removing the rails from my bed cover. If the bracket had another 1/2” of depth I would not have to remove the rails. Again solvable but would be nice if the bracket could accommodate this. But having said all that I have not been able to find anything better and I do promote them when asked. 662731

Ordered 2 pairs of these, and boy are they well made! Attachment to truck bed rails is super easy, and they keep both our bicycles in place for travel with hardly any movement AT ALL during turns and bumps. My wife's bike is a step-through, and the beauty of these is that they seem to be able to do the job with most any bicycle type/shape. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to secure bikes in a truck bed! 655325

2017 Nissan Frontier

I had been looking for a rack for the bed of my 2017 Nissan Frontier SV king cab for a while. I have a Transit Express rack that goes across the bed and holds my bike very well. Absolutely no regrets buying that one but I was tired of taking off the front wheel every time I wanted to take them out like the beach or camping. I came across the INNO velo gripper online and it was exactly what I was looking for. There was no info that assured me it would fit my truck. I have NO C-channels (Utili-Trac system). I took a chance and ordered NT201 for standard beds and it fits great! I hope this review helps others. It does fit the Nissan Frontier with no issues. 548692

Ask the Experts about this Inno Truck Bed Bike Racks

  • Will the Thule Insta-Gater Work On a Bike with Fenders
I do have a few other options for you but the Thule Insta-Gater Truck Bed Single Bike Rack part # TH501 will not work with bikes that have fenders. Instead, you can use the Topline 1 Bike Carrier Truck Bed Mounted Expandable Bike Rack part # UG2500-1 or the Inno Velo Gripper Bike Rack for Truck Beds part # INRT201 depending on the weight of your bike but these are the only truck bed mounted options that will work for your bike without removing the wheel. Please note, if you have RamBoxes...

We have a similar truck bed bike rack to the Inno Velo Gripper # INRT201 that does allow you to carry two bikes as the Topline 2 bike rack part # UG2500 which would work well and is a high quality rack, but the Inno you mentioned does not have an expansion rack you can put on it.

I went out to our warehouse to take a few measurements on both the clamp and mounting plate for the Inno Velo Gripper Bike Rack # INRT201. The black plate measures 4 inches long and 2-3/8 inches wide with a small lip that measures 1 inch wide. The bed rail clamp has inside dimensions of 2-13/16 inches tall and 1-5/8 inches wide. Yes, the Inno Velo Gripper Bike Rack # INRT201 is compatible with your 2017 Toyota Tacoma as long as it doesn't have the Cargo Management Rails. If your Tacoma does have the Cargo Management Rails you will want to use part # INRT202 instead. This is the exact same trunk bed bike rack it just installs in a slightly different manner. I do have some great options for you, however the Inno Velo Gripper Bike Rack # INRT201 that you referenced will not work on your 2019 Ram 1500 that's equipped with the RamBox storage system. It simply won't have the mounting area required for this to clamp around. Since you have the RamBoxes you will need to go with a carrier that actually bolts to the bed floor or attaches to the channel rails (instead of utilize the side rails) or use a tailgate pad like the Thule GateMate # TH824PRO....

It also comes with protective plates for the top of your bed rails to protect the paint. The Inno grips the bikes by their frame so you will not have to worry about taking the front wheel off every time you...
