Inno Velo Gripper Truck Bed

The space-saving Velo Gripper bike carrier lets you transport 1 bike in your truck bed. Because your bike sits along the side of your truck bed, you'll have plenty of room for everything else you need to haul. This carrier mounts easily onto the side rail of your truck bed, and ratcheting straps hold a bike of any shape or size by the seat stay and fork. Built-in D-rings act as tie-down spots so that you can secure your bike with a cable lock or secure other cargo with a bungee cord or tie-down strap.

Hassle-Free Bike Mounting

Inno Bike Mounting

Two ratcheting straps on adjustable rods hold one bike of any shape or size by the fork and seat stay - no need to remove your front wheel to mount your bike. The rods rotate so the holders can grab your bike from any angle. Rotating the rods also allows you to adjust the amount of space between your bike frame and the side of your truck bed. That way, you can position your bike close enough to the side of your truck bed to save space but not so close that your bike and truck bed make contact.

Simple Truck-Bed Installation

Inno Bike Mounting

The Velo Gripper installs without drilling onto your truck bed. To install, place the included protective plates on top of your truck bed rail to prevent the mounting brackets from scuffing or scratching the paint. Then, position the mounting brackets over the protective plates. Tighten the clamps down with the eye bolts to complete installation.

Space-Saving Design

Inno Space Saving

Your bike will rest on both wheels in its normal upright position on the inside of your truck bed. This mounting style leaves most of your truck bed open to carry other gear. You can position your bike at the front or the rear of your truck bed to help reduce the potential for the bike to roll. This not only reduces pressure on the Velo Gripper but also saves space in your truck bed.

D-Ring Attachments

Inno D Ring

Each clamp has an attached D-ring that enables you to use tie-down straps with or without your bike mounted. Loop a a cable lock with a maximum diameter of 3/4" (sold separately) through the D-rings or the eye bolts and through your bike frame to lock the carrier to your truck and your bike to the carrier. A 5' - 6' long cable is recommended for locking your bike and both clamps. When you're not transporting a bike, these D-rings make great tie-down spots for securing other gear in your truck.

I ordered 2 racks. It took a little while to get the clamps in place and tightened down primarily because my truck has a 5 1/2 foot bed and the bikes are longer than that. Once I got the placement right I was able to clamp the bikes in place without taking off the front wheels. Tested the security on a rough road and the bikes stayed solidly in place. I have more room in the bed now the bikes are closer to the side of the truck than before. The racks are going work well for us.

Using on 2 e-bikes. Units are very study and easy to install. Bikes weigh more than the units are rated for. Initial test run gave no indication that they would not handle the extra weight of the e-bikes.

Great product that works as advertised. I have a 2018 f150 5.5’ box. I have used this twice to transport my bike and the bike is really secured well. I have to leave my tailgate down as the bike comes out of the bed maybe an inch or 2. The wheel well in my bed does slightly get in the way when screwing in the eye bolt but once in place it hold the bike perfectly. I do use a stretch cord also due to the fact that the tailgate must be left down.

Great product money well spent! Little bit of a challenge to figure out how I was going to make it work with a pickup with a toolbox in the back especially having a Fat Tire Bike but the flexibility of the clamps makes it very easy to find a location to hold up my bike. Looks dope and works great easy on easy off. Note to self when the clamps are on Mark the edges with a marker or paint pen so this way when you take the clamps off you can put them right in the same spot and you don't have to worry about figuring out where they go again

We have two bikes. I ordered one bike rack because I was unsure about how the rack would work with my mini folding E bike. After installing and checking the regular bike I checked the E bike. No problem. The gripper works great. The quality is good and it has the ability to adjust how far the bike sits from the truck’s rail. I ordered the 2nd rack online and within 20 minutes received a call from etrailer asking if it was a duplicate order. I appreciated their call and concern while explaining why I now was ordering another gripper. Great product and great customer service.

The 201 bike holder is top quality. It is built strong, with metal components. After testing my first one, I did not hesitate to buy another for my wife's bike. Installation takes about 5 minutes and will remain where you put it. To secure them, simply run a cable through some loops. I recommend this solution for those cyclists who don't want to drill holes in their truck beds. BTW, shipping was fast!

These clamps are beefier than expected, easy to install, and hold bike very firmly in place. One drawback is that with my bike and truck size, the hold down strap on the seat bar hits where the derailleur is clamped to the bar. So I had to raise the RT201 with a small wood block.

This was just what we were looking for. When we go camping and pull the camper the bike can ride upright and not fall over. Keeps it out of the way of the other things we tote in the back with it. Thanks for a wonderful product.

Everything arrived in good order, ahead of time. There are some minor problems with the instruction manual. The instructions at the top of p. US-3 don’t make sense. I read them repeatedly and finally realized that the word “are” between “clamps” and “over” is missing (a failure to translate se trouvent in French, estén in Spanish). I am familiar with both of those languages, and so I could consult the other texts for clarification. Similarly, a very minor point of translation: “pushing” in the directions by the arrow should be simply “push” Another admittedly very minor point (but you might as well get even small details right, if corrections are going to be made): “Make sure you follow [the] instruction[s],” not just “follow instruction” (though the meaning is clear, the translation is odd and not idiomatic) Yet another minor point: The opening text instructs readers to contact the service center at “the bottom of the page.” But there is nothing at the bottom of the page. What is meant is the “end of the instructions” on p. 3. The French also has “en bas de la page.” The Spanish is better “al final.” In English simply “below” should suffice and be less confusing — though I doubt that anyone will get confused about how to contact the service center. To move to more substantial issues: One of my main uncertainties about the Velo Gripper was how much to cut my previously installed truck-bed lining (which extends to the top of the sides of the bed) to allow the clamps to fit and be manually accessible. This was also my main hesitation about buying the Velo Gripper. At any rate, I cut holes of approximately four by six inches. The four holes do not seem to me to present any problems. I had years ago cut smaller holes in the lining when installing a kayak carrier — without creating any problems. It’s hard to make sense out of the terms used on p. US-1 under “Caution”: “Remove the bed lining when it interrupts the installation of the carrier.” I don’t understand what “interrupts the installation” actually means in this context; it seems so vague as to be worthless. The French and Spanish versions are not much better. At any rate, I was not going to remove all of my bed lining. I am above all puzzled by the “maximum load 33 pounds,” which would disqualify many bicycles and virtually all e-bikes. Why so light? One of my e-bikes weighs 34 pounds and another around 50 pounds. I can’t see why there would be a danger for them, and thus I ignored this warning. Am I missing something? I would of course not use the Velo Grippers to hold something as heavy as a motorcycle, but up to around 60 pounds seems safe enough. Perhaps worries about liability have resulted in unrealistic directions. I should say that I also use supplementary straps to make sure the bikes remain securely in place. The manual’s instructions emphasize that one should “make sure to follow all of the instructions carefully.” I actually doubt that most of your customers do that — or even read the directions rather than simply follow the pictures — but if I had done so scrupulously I probably would have returned the product. That would have been a shame, since it is a good product, though I will have to reserve my final judgement until I have used it extensively.

Excellent hold on the bike with no movement. Easy to add cables and locks for security. Only downside is it takes a minute to break down if you need to remove it. Also mark the spot on the bed rail so you know exactly where to put it back without measuring.

My Inno Velo Gripper Bike Rack for Truck Beds - Clamp On, are sooo easy to attach and use! I wanted easy and user friendly and I received both. When I have a second bike in my truck bed, I had to lay both of them down and half way on top of each other and hope I wouldn't damage them on the trip. I wanted a rack that I could use when needed and not keep it installed in my truck. I can install my Inno's when I'm ready to go on a ride, and when I'm done I uninstall so my truck is available to haul my kayak's without the bike racks being in the way. It takes me about 5 mins. to install both sets that I own. I AM I VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER!

I installed them last night and then drove 120 miles with the bikes in them. The bikes didn’t move at all. Had to turn one bike around because of the bed side but so far very happy. I have a F250, regular bed.

I was tired of taking off the front wheel every time I wanted to mount my bike in my truck bed with a fork mount. I was impressed with the product video and thought I would give it a try. I admit to being a bit skeptical about the security of the mount but delighted to report that the bike position is solid as a rock. Installation and use is a snap. Great product and great value.

I like the product. Easy and quick to get bikes on and off the racks. Would have rated it higher but for a couple of things that I think could use improvement. 1. The rubber pads on the brackets fell off rather easily causing wear on bike frame. Look at using better adhesive. That’s what I did. 2. I cannot install the racks without removing the rails from my bed cover. If the bracket had another 1/2” of depth I would not have to remove the rails. Again solvable but would be nice if the bracket could accommodate this. But having said all that I have not been able to find anything better and I do promote them when asked.

By chance do you know if they make extensions for these bike racks? I have a Leer topper and I have to take the handlebars off in order to use this rack I just purchased from you.

Comments
Unfortunately, Inno doesnt make anything that would move the bikes inward so the handlebars wont interfere with the side of the topper. Instead of completely removing the handlebars, you should be able to loosen the bolt at the stem, and rotate the bars enough that theyll fit.

The set up is awesome. Bike gets locked in solid. I have a full size with a toolbox and it fits well with the front tire turned in. Which would be like a 6’ bed. If you have a box in a 6’ bed, this would really work. My only downside is the cushioning design to keep from vibration wear on the for and frame could be improved. I epoxy’d a foam pad on toy the end to help keep from scuffing my paint job. Unit is nice and adjustable for all bike types! I recommend it to all my friends who want to transport their bike solo and don’t like messing with the whole tailgate pad or a hitch mount.

We have LOVED the truck bike rack clamp ons that were ordered last year and would purchase them again. They are easy to put on and remove when not in use, and hold the bikes securely. The service offered by E Trailer was above and beyond, as they made arrangements to send the racks on to where we picked up the bikes in California via an overnight mail carrier. Thanks again!

2017 Nissan Frontier

I had been looking for a rack for the bed of my 2017 Nissan Frontier SV king cab for a while. I have a Transit Express rack that goes across the bed and holds my bike very well. Absolutely no regrets buying that one but I was tired of taking off the front wheel every time I wanted to take them out like the beach or camping. I came across the INNO velo gripper online and it was exactly what I was looking for. There was no info that assured me it would fit my truck. I have NO C-channels (Utili-Trac system). I took a chance and ordered NT201 for standard beds and it fits great! I hope this review helps others. It does fit the Nissan Frontier with no issues.
