Adam: What's going on, everybody Adam here with each etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Optronics 7 Pole Plug Protector.Over time, we are going to get a decent amount of dust and grime getting on the inside of our 7 pole. And that's going to not really get us the best connection, and we might see some shortages and something like that on our trailer. As you guys can see here, we've got a winch, a big battery, solar panel, and there's a couple of lights back there, too. Everything needs power, and this is how we get the power. So to be able to actually protect our plug, so we can not have to replace it so often, is definitely going to be a plus.
It's just going to slip right in here. Very, very simple and easy. So this is going to fit all your 7 pole connectors. It also has like a little tab here.So it's going to stay nice and tight and all we're really going to have to do to take it out is just kind of fold that back and wiggle it out. And then we can go ahead and plug it in.
But don't be worried if it's not going to fit your guys's, it is a very, very basic shape and it's going to fit quite nicely.It is going to be made of a pretty tough plastic. So it isn't going to fade or anything over time and it's not going to get any rock chips or anything like that. One thing to note, we are going to have dimensions with this product and it's going to be about three and three sixteenth inches wide. We're going to have about two and fifteen sixteenth inches tall, and it's going to be about two and a fourth inches thick.It really isn't too difficult to mount this up. There's a lot of different ways you guys can do it, put it wherever you want.
We are going to supply our own hardware. But what we're going to do here is just go ahead and show you guys how we installed it on our trailer today.So the first thing we want to do is to find the ideal spot to place the holder. So I have my 7 pole here. I think it's going to be best, especially when this is fold up. I think I'm just going to go ahead and put it down here somewhere and obviously make sure that our connection's going to fit and it does.
So that's good. So once we find out where we're going to put it, I found it best to go ahead and mark it with the drill bit.You guys can also achieve this by just getting like a paint marker or something like that. So what we're going to do is mark them all and we are going to have to supply our own hardware. So once we get these drilled out, we're going to grab whatever hardware we want to mount it up and we'll get going.Now we can go ahead and start mounting up our cover. Line it back up. And I'm actually just using some self-tappers. And with the drill, the hole drilled, it's going to make it a little bit easier to get them in there, but you guys can use whatever hardware is best for your guys's trailer.Once we have everything all mounted up, now we can just go ahead and slide our 7 pole into the little protector here.And that's basically it for our look at the Optronics 7 Pole Protector.
This product is exactly as described and is perfect for protecting my trailer plug and keeping it clean!!
This is the second one of these I've ordered. I like that it keeps your 7 pin plug secure and the weather out.
I mounted this product to the front of my winch stand for easy access to store my trailer power plug when not in use. It protects it from dirt and damage. Another great little product from etrailer!!! I highly recommend to all boaters with the round type plug.
The product was exactly what I was expecting. It fit my 7 way trailer plug perfectly. I did use my own screws. The only issue I had was that USPS was very slow on picking up the package from etrailer.

After a year, the harness plug protector is holding up very well.
Placed a magnet on the base and attached to trailer.
Love these things. Keeps my plug clean and dry between uses. Otherwise it’s always falling in the dirt or getting rained on.
Excellent for docking and protecting the contacts on your 7-way trailer plug. I drilled and screwed this to the trailer A-frame with stainless steel self-drilling sheet metal screws to keep the connector plug from ending up down on the ground and getting corroded contacts.
Overall I am very pleased with this addon. I was always putting the end up into the back of the pin box to keep it out of the weather. Now 2 wraps and plugs right end. Well worth the investment of like to keep things as good as new.

A year later and this item is still performing as new. No signs of weathering and all is good.

Protects the plug fine as intended, the trick is to mount it on the trailer in a place that does not interfere with anything else like the jack or spare tire mount. Also the diameter of the protector is slightly different than the plug receiver on the truck but tighter better for weather protection though.
It works as intended! Now I don’t have to use a bunch of zip ties to hold the 7pin connector to the frame of my trailer. It’s heavy duty plastic too so it will last along time.
I have these on each of my trailers. They install easily with self tapping screws. Do an excellent job of keeping plug end clean, dry, and off the ground.
Works well made a bracket and used existing holes in my frame from previous hitch that I removed

I moved it to a new location because where it was at collected dirt when I was towing trailer
Simple and easy to install, perfect fit and a must have to keep and protect! Installed in this manner to avoid water and or dirt build up inside.

Its held up well and ordered a second one for another travel trailer I upgraded into and installed in the manner.
Mounted this to the battery/hydraulic box of my dump trailer. It keeps the cord neat and clean when I’m done using the trailer.
Just right to keep water and bugs out of your plug no more plunging up and no lights

Great looking product
Simple answer to how to keep your 7 way connector free of water and dirt. I affixed it vertically to the trailer tongue where it was convenient to access. The connector and cable now stays out of the way and covered against the elements when the trailer is disconnected.
An inexpensive and excellent accessory. Connector stays perfectly clean in this easy to use storage socket.

Awesome doing its job.
The 7-pin plug holder is great, I installed it yesterday with the 7-pin plug hanging down from the holder to keep out water, etc. When I saw this holder I also told two of our camping buddies about it and they also ordered one each for there use. JL
