Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

2020 Ford Ranger

A+ etrailer Fast shipping. Great Fit. Easy Install

by:

Really easy to install with a couple of caveats - you don’t need to drop spare and if doing solo, a floor jack is super helpful to hold it in place. I used an impact wrench to get bumper bolts loose, but a breaker bar probably would have worked just as well. I installed on a 2022 XLT and it fit perfectly. Shipping was super fast. First time ordering from etrailer.com and very pleased with transaction.

  • What Size Socket Is Needed To Install Hitch On 2020 Ford Ranger
To install the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit part # 76275 on the 2020 Ford Ranger you will need a 21 mm socket and a 6" socket extension. You will also need a ratchet, a torque wrench, 2 c-clamps, and safety glasses.

  • Does the Spare Tire Need Lowered To Install Draw-Tite Hitch On 2020 Ford Ranger
In regards to the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # DT73GR which is a fit for a 2020 Ford Ranger, the instructions do indeed call for lowering the spare wheel/tire. I agree that the bolts do appear to be accessible without the spare wheel/tire lowered but it will be much easier to maneuver the hitch up into position with the tire/wheel removed which is generally the reason why it is recommended. That said, it is certainly possible it can be installed without lowering the...

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver Tongue Weight Capacity for 2019 Ford Ranger
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # DT73GR has that tongue weight rating of 1125 you mentioned with a towing capacity of 7500 lbs max. This hitch receiver is rated independently of your truck, which when fully equipped is rated for that same 7,500 lbs maximum towing capacity. You will want to make sure your fully loaded trailer is less than that 7,500 lbs. The hitch receiver # DT73GR can handle the additional tongue weight but your vehicle...

  • What Is The Width Of The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch DT73GR Measured Bolt Hole To Bolt Hole?
I had our warehouse measure the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT73GR you were looking at for your 2021 Ford Ranger, and from the center of the left side mounting hole to the center of the right side bolt mounting hole measures 43-3/8" . The # DT73GR is confirmed to fit all models of the 2021 Ford Ranger. When you mention 40" wide, where were you measuring from? If you take a look at the 6:45 minute mark of the included video of an older version of this hitch you will see the bolts...

  • Correct Trailer Hitch for a 2022 Ford Ranger
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT73GR is the Draw-Tite part 76583 which is a fit for your 2022 Ford Ranger. This is the newer part number to the 76275 you referenced. My guess would be that Draw-Tite made some kind of update to the hitch and they are trying to get rid of their inventory on the 76275.

Those two part numbers are the exact same hitch basically. What happened was the 76583 replaced the 76275 so at this point they are the same. We have this hitch on our site as the part # DT73GR.

  • Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch vs. Curt Trailer Hitch for 2020 Ford Ranger
There isn't much difference at all between the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # DT73GR to the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13417 for your 2020 Ford Ranger, so you aren't missing anything though it's smart to ask. The differences are just in the respective weight capacities, with the Draw-Tite having a 7,500 lb towing capacity and 1,125 lb tongue weight capacity compared to the Curt's 6,000 lb towing capacity and 900 lb tongue weight capacity. The other difference is that the Curt hitch is assembled in...

The Draw-Tite and Curt trailer hitches that fit your 2019 Ford Ranger are very similar, with the biggest difference being their respective capacities. The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # DT73GR has a towing capacity of 7,500 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 1,125 lbs. The Curt Trailer Hitch # C13417 has a towing capacity of 6,000 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 900 lbs. • Do Different Towing Capacities of Curt & Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Matter for 2020 Ford Ranger
In a word, yes, the towing capacities of the two trailer hitches do matter, and I'll explain why. I checked out the owner's manual and it states that your 2020 Ford Ranger has a maximum 7,500 lb towing capacity (so long as the trailer has brakes). This means that the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13417 does not have the same capacity as the truck unless used with a weight distribution system. The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT73GR has a 7,500 lb towing capacity which means you...

  • Does the Spare Tire Need To Be Lowered To Install the Curt Hitch On a 2019 Ford Ranger
The spare tire will need to be lowered to install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13417 on a 2019 Ford Ranger. I understand the instructions do not state this is needed but we have found that this step is required to install a trailer hitch on a Ford Ranger. That said, the spare tire will install right back up into place once the hitch is in position so there should be no worries here. In order to lower the spare tire there should be a tool somewhere in the vehicle which you can...

  • Comparing Draw-Tite and Curt Trailer Hitches for 2020 Ford Ranger
The Draw-Tite # DT73GR and Curt # C13417 Class III Trailer Hitches for your 2020 Ford Ranger are indeed very similar, but I do recommend the Draw-Tite # DT73GR just because it offers higher towing and tongue weight capacities (7,500 pounds vs 6,000 pounds towing and 1,125 pounds vs 900 pounds tongue weight). Otherwise these two hitches are essentially identical, both with nice hidden-crosstube designs that maintain a sleek OEM-like appearance at the rear bumper and offer simple bolt-on...

For a 2,700 lb travel trailer the Pro Series RB2 weight distribution system part # RP66082 would be an excellent option that has a tongue weight rating of 200-600 lbs and has best sway control at preventing sway before it starts. Then for a trailer hitch the Draw Tite # DT73GR has very high weight capacities and installs easily too.

  • Is There a Weight Difference Between Curt and Draw Tite Hitch that Fits 2020 Ford Ranger
The weight difference between the Curt hitch part # C13417 and the Draw Tite part # DT73GR that fits your 2020 Ford Ranger is pretty small. The Draw Tite weighs 37 lbs and the Curt 34 lbs. Also worth mentioning is that the weight of the hitch does not count against the tongue weight rating of the vehicle as essentially the hitch becomes part of the truck frame.

I would be happy to help you make a decision between the two hitch receivers for your 2021 Ford Ranger. For your 2020 Ford Ranger we have the Curt # C13417 and the Draw Tite # DT73GR which are both really solid options. I would recommend the Draw Tite though as it has better towing capacities and a bracket built into the hitch for mounting trailer wiring. • What Ladder Rack will Work with a Mountain Top Tonneau Cover on a 2019 Ford Ranger?
I have a solution for you. I did some research on the Mountain Top bed systems, and it looks like the system covers both the inside rails of the truck bed as well as the stake pockets. Unfortunately, all the ladder racks we carry require for one of those two options to be available for installation of our ladder racks. With that being said, I recommend the Rhino-Rack T-Load # RTL002. The rise of the T-Load on the back hitch has an adjustable height of 42" - 64" inches. For securing your...

  • Does the Maximum Gross Towing Weight Capacity Matter on the # C13417 and # DT73GR on My 2021 Ranger?
Yes, the maximum gross towing weight capacities of the Curt Hitch - 2" # C13417 and the Draw-Tite Hitch - 2" # DT73GR matters when installed on your 2021 Ford Ranger. The combined weight pulling outward from the back of the hitch receiver cannot exceed 6,000 pounds (on the Curt) and 7,500 pounds (on the Draw-Tite). We strongly recommend to make sure that your Ranger can tow up to that much weight by checking with your owner's manual. If you plan on towing with your vehicle, I recommend...

  • Will The Curt Or Draw-Tite Hitch Maximize My 2021 Ford Rangers Towing Capacity?
You are not necessarily incorrect about your 2021 Ford Ranger being limited to 3,500 pounds, but there is a caveat to this. The 3,500 pound tow rated is only when you are using the bumper as a hitch. I included a picture showing what I mean by that as well. When using a conventional hitch, like the Curt # C13417 or Draw-Tite # DT73GR, you are looking at a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 pounds. This means you also have 750 pounds of tongue weight and will indeed have a lot more options...

  • Choosing Between Curt and Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receivers For a 2021 Ford Ranger
I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT73GR over the Curt Trailer Hitch Reciever # C13417. The Draw-Tite sits farther under the bumper on the 2021 Ford Ranger which gives it a more hidden appearance. It also sits higher on the bumper giving better ground clearance. When measured on a 2020 Ranger the Draw-Tite sat 1/2" higher at 19-1/2". There is also a significant difference in the weight capacities. The Curt has a maximum tongue weight rating of 900lbs with a...

The Curt # E-3S bumper hitch isn't a vehicle specific product, it'll fit many different step bumper equipped trucks and SUV's. The hitch itself carries a 5000 lb capacity, which could be limited by the capacity of the bumper which might be less (contact your local Ford dealer for exact bumper capacity). This being said, I'd highly recommend going with a custom-fit frame mounted hitch like...
