The bolts that come with the kit don’t fit the threads on the side mounts where you remove the plugs. 643843

Comments
The bolts should be M10-1.25 X 30, which is a 10mm diameter, 1.25 threads per mm by 30 mm long. If you didnt receive the correct bolts, please let us know. Well send you the correct ones right away.

Etrailer has everything one needs for most people to safely start towing by offering great products (hitches, wiring, draw bars, etc) as well as the information via document, video, and/or advisors to get the job done. I have purchased 2 trailer hitch receivers and wiring harnesses for my vehicles over the past few years and I have been very satisfied and I have saved money. I would definitely use etrailer again if I needed get towing with a different vehicle. 374429

Our trailer hitch has worked out well. We do not do really heavy duty towing with it but I very much appreciate being to find a product that I can manage to fit my needs and also allows me to manage to save some money.

I got my delivery in the mail the other day. Pretty fast too. So this morning I decided to tackle the install. I'm not exactly Mr. Goodwrench, but this isn't a job that requires mechanical knowledge. I watched the install video and then set down with my ratchet set and had at it. The hardest part of the install was getting the existing tow points off. The bolts were pretty well frozen. A quick blast with the brazing torch to heat them up and they came loose. The disassembly of the panels and tow points took a half hour or so. The hitch needed to be manhandled into place a bit though. It would have been easier with a lift and a second set of hands but I was working in my garage alone. A handy floor jack helped lift the hitch into place while the bolts when on. Maybe 15 -20 minutes total. Then shaving down the panels and installing them took another 25 minutes. So It took my amateur self an hour and fifteen minutes including putting my tools away. The hitch is well finished, and solid as can be. Also, the design is flawless. Every bolt hole lined up with precision. Toyota wanted $700ish for their hitch installed. This was a third that cost with free shipping. A second hand and this would have been on in less than an hour. Top notch craftsmanship, stellar engineering, and a great instructional video. Thanks. 174765

My 13 year old son and I installed this in a little under two hours. Delivery was quick but the box was banged up. But who cares! It is a hitch. This hitch is solid and well built. Very nice finish. It is heavy and we had to use a box to help prop up my son's side during the install. I could barely lift my side for that matter but we figured it out. The installation video was spot on. We did have some rust in a couple of the bolt holes on the frame. I was glad we ordered the brush to help clean them out. Ended up having to use the wrench to drive one of the bolts through the rust so that we could then do the install. I have a another hitch on my other car and it started to rust nearly immediately. This is much higher quality and 1/2 the price. 433921

Absolutely love the trailer hitch that I purchased. It is in great shape compared to the POS [trailer rental location] one I put on my other car years ago. :. I did have one problem though.

Bought the Draw-Tite trailer hits together with the Swagman XTC4 4-bike rack. Bought based on reviews on e-trailer and other sites that this is a sturdy and good-working combination for carrying 4 bikes. * Delivery: Fast (<5 days) * Packaging: Package had holes, which is not unusual as the box with the hitch has a lot of empty spaces. Others had same issue, but nothing to worry about. The hitch cannot really break easily and the hardware is safely stored in the 2inch receiver. * Installation: Very nice video instructions on etrailer. Installation really can use two people, but it's fairly easy with two people. Had some problems with one of the nine screws to bite although I did a try run before mounting the hitch. Worked after some minutes of wiggling the hitch so that the screw got the correct angle to bite. * Usage: Installed the day of delivery and used it the next day. It's the first time I used a trailer hitch and for sure the first time I used to carry 4 bikes. Stopped looking in the rear-view mirror after 1 minutes seeing that it's barely moving at all. So with a limited use so far I can confirm other's reviews of this combination and I think it works great. Recommended. 357848

2019 Toyota Highlander

I bought this to put on my 2008 Toyota Highlander Sport. It's a very nice, well built hitch. It fit perfectly, even with my full size, 19 inch, spare tire. The only complaint I had about it was the packaging. The box arrived via the brown truck and was torn at both ends by the edges of the hitch, which caused the hitch to have a few nicks and scratches to the paint. The delivery driver even apologized for it. I contacted etrailer.com via email. Their customer service was great, responding in just a few hours. We worked out a solution. This hitch is very well made. It's welded together and the bolt holes lined up perfectly with my Highlander's. It's heavy and awkward, so I do recommend two people to put it on. Installation was easy...my 13 year old nephew helped me. You could probably put it on by yourself, but two people make it easier as you have to lift it over the exhaust pipe. The video tutorial was definitely a plus! One thing I had to do that the video didn't show was to remove the cover on the tip of the exhaust pipe. I know not all models have one, but the sport models do. It's easy to remove by loosening the bolted on clamp. I didn't have to lift the rear of the Highlander up, either. There is plenty of room to get underneath the vehicle to work and do this (I'm a big guy). The hitch also has a plate welded onto it near the receiver so you can attach a mounting bracket for the wire harness if you want to run it to the outside of your vehicle. I used the mounting bracket (Item 18144) here: . It comes with locking screws and fits perfectly. Overall, this is a solid hitch that is priced well and looks great! I had thought about buying the OEM from Toyota, but I'm glad I didn't. This one is just as good (if not better) at only a quarter of the cost and I didn't have to pay anyone to install it. I will definitely be doing more business with etrailer.com! Great prices and customer service you can't beat! P.S. Sorry, but it was raining a little when I took the pics. 499583

2009 Toyota Highlander

Research has brought me to etrailer.com to find the best hitch for my vehicle. I own a 2009 toyota highlander which is the hybrid limited model. I choose this hitch particularly because of the added tongue weight. 750 or 500 lbs... you decide which is better. This hitch has extra mounting tabs, so it doesn't just mount to the bottom of the frame but also the sides of the frame. It took 2 days to receive and less time to install. 45 minutes with 2 people. Do note that if you have mud guards than they must come off. I didn't remove the tail pipe to install, just man handled the hitch over it. Also, there is a tab on the back side of the facia in front of the exaust tip that has to go under the hitch. The bolts included with the hitch were a different size than what the manual says. They aren't 17mmm, they are 16mm. Overall the install went well so don't be intimidated by it if your not mechanicly inclinded. The wiring was really easy to install and as you can see in the picture I ran it through a hole in the body. I cut a small slit in the grommet and gently pushed the small end through so that any water won't come through. Worked like a charm. This was an aawesome experience! 203137

Exactly as advertised. Install was completely straightforward as described in the install video. I was actually able to trim/cut and reinstall the DRIVERS side appearance panel - etrailer might consider adding this to your instructions for those who really want the drivers side panel back in-place ... it’s doable. 872373

The first think to know about etrailer is that their service is OUTSTANDING!!! I am a novice on cars and not only did the website provide great documentation to help me select the right product for my vehicle, but the car-specific installation video allowed me to take on this project with ease. The shipping was fast, information on status was readily available ,and when I had to call to solve an issue the response was fast and addressed the issue. The trailer hitch is also excellent. I selected the Draw-Tite product because competitor product reviews indicated lots of issues with holes not lining up, but I had none of that with the Draw-Tite. It was a perfect fit and very easy to install. It is a 2 person job to hold the hitch in place until a few screws are in but other than that I did it by myself. Since installation, I've logged over 1500 miles with a 4 bike rack attached to the hitch and zero issues. Highly recommend etrailer and Draw-Tite!!! 817165

I installed this on my 2012 Toyota Highlander in about an hour by myself. Just needed a torque wrench, crescent wrench, screwdrivers, and a piece of cardboard to lay on. I have owned the trailer hitch for a year now. I only have two reasons why I didn't give it 5 stars. First, it wasn't wrapped well enough on the corners/edges. It came in bubble wrap and packaging tape. Bubble wrap AND little pieces of cardboard covering the corners and extruding edges would be an easy fix. Unfortunately, it came a little banged up. I would have asked for a replacement, but I needed it for an immediate job. And it wouldn't have been right to use it and then ask for a replacement. Second issue was that it didn't mention on the website that I wouldn't be able to reattach the vehicle splash shields on one side, due to the trailer hitch design. It's not visible, but I know that rather large plastic piece serves a good purpose in keeping the undercarriage free from winter sand/snow/ice/solvents/debris. The install video really glossed over this part. Other than that, the hitch arrived quickly and was obviously manufactured well. They just need to put more thought into the entire process, from manufacturing thru delivery and installation. 809141

Second hitch from Etrailer; first one was for a different vehicle. This one for a 2013 Toyota Highlander. Primarily used to tow a small boat but went with the top performer as I might have to use it for relocating household goods. Very easy to install but I forgot that the mounting hardware was in the receiver, which the support personnel reminded. Once again, no complaints. 802530

The trailer hitch is fantastic. The quality is amazing and works great. My only comment would be that when it was shipped last year the hitch broke threw the box and scratched the bottom of the trailer. I am going to use touch up paint to fix this. I do not want this to rust over the years. Thank you for an amazing product. 786407

. The crossbar of this hitch tucks up behind the rear fascia, so only the receiver tube is visible.

2012 Toyota Highlander

I got my bumper mounted (Draw-Tite) and I'm pleased with it. The receiver sticks out further past the bumper than I like but considering how it barely clears the spare tire underneath there's not much that can be done to change that. At most it could be shortened about an inch using up all the clearances but it would still stick out some. I had to modify (cut some plastic) on the driver side under body panel piece to clear the receiver frame mount. Basically the existing access hole in the plastic panel for the shipping tie down bracket just needed to be lengthened to the front of the vehicle. The wiring harness kit instruction for the 2012 Highlander could use some revision. It was only after the under dash harness is installed that it says to install a fuse in the fuse holder - so another crawl up under the dash working in tight area to do that. Would have been a lot easier to install the fuse as the first step. Also, after removing all the panels in the rear quarter area to plug in the new harness and plug extension set, it says curl up the wire out of the way when not in use? Instead there is a plastic body plug down in the well area that a slot can be cut in and the plug pushed through it and then the plug run underneath to the receiver hitch and mounted in the bracket on the hitch that I also purchased. All in all the hitch fit very well and bolting it up was not problem once it was maneuvered up and over the exhaust pipe (I removed the exhaust tip for more clearance). Only minor complaint I have is that some scrap cardboard could have been used to pad the hitch before the shrink wrap was applied to better protect the metal edges/corners/ of the frame for shipping. I had a lot of paint touch up to do on paint edges and corners with some Rustoleum. Or better yet Draw-Tite could powder coat the assembly which would be more durable. 775850

There will be a tab to pull back that will allow you to remove the trim piece. Pull out the jack and lug wrench from...

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for 2012 Toyota Highlander
The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2012 Toyota Highlander is the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Round Tube Receiver Hitch # 75726. I recommend this hitch because it has a higher tongue weight capacity than some other hitches confirmed to fit your Highlander. This trailer hitch will not require drilling for installation and it will allow you to keep you full size spare tire stowed under your vehicle. The Curt trailer hitch for your vehicle requires the use of a stabilization strap...

Yes, Draw-Tite has confirmed that the Draw-Tite Max-E-Loader Trailer Hitch, # 75726, will fit both the 2011 and 2012 Toyota Highlander. I have attached the installation instructions for you to check out. If you need a wiring harness to add to your new Highlander, then you will want to pick up the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, # 118449. I have attached an installation video of this wiring harness on a similar vehicle for you as well. You can also order a new hardware kit for this...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for Toyota Highlander that Allows Full Size Aluminum Spare to Fit
We have heard that the Curt hitch # C13200 doesn't fit well with the larger aluminum spare wheels that some of the Highlanders have. We have the Draw Tite hitch part # 75726 that I can show you does fit with the aluminum spare wheels. Check out the picture I attached to see that it does fit.

  • Recommended Class III Receiver Hitch for 2013 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
Of the hitches available for your Highlander (see link), the Draw-Tite # 75726 will accommodate a full sized spare, is compatible with the Hybrid model, and would allow for the best ground clearance. Therefore, the Curt Class III hitch is what I would recommend for you. All the available hitches would require that the tow hooks be permanently removed, and would require the removal or trimming of the underbody appearance panel. The panel being trimmed or removed will not be noticeable,...

  • Trailer Hitch and 4-Bike Hitch-Mount Carrier Recommendations for 2010 Toyota Highlander
A hitch-mount rack is a great choice for transporting 4 bikes on your 2010 Toyota Highlander and we offer 2-inch Class III hitches with very substantial capacity that can easily handle this weight load. For a hitch I suggest Draw-Tite hitch # 75726 which bolts on without drilling using the included hardware (but tow hooks need to be removed and the underbody panel requires trimming or removal). This hitch carries a 750-lb tongue weight rating, making it ideal for your application. You...

  • What is Included in Tow Package on a 2008 Toyota Highlander
The features and equipment that constitute an auto maker's OEM "tow package" can vary by vehicle manufacturer, vehicle model and model year. Auto makers may change the elements of a "tow package" for any number of reasons. The best way to determine exactly what your particular Highlander's equipment and capacities are is to contact your local dealership with the VIN number. They can then determine exactly how it is equipped. If you have need for a weight distribution system for your...

The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2013 Toyota Highlander is the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Hitch # 75726. This hitch offers a 2 inch receiver opening to accept a wide variety of hitch and towing accessories. You will want to check your owner's manual so as to not exceed your Highlander's towing capacity, but this hitch has a towing capacity of up to 5000 pounds with a tongue weight capacity up to 750 pounds. I've linked an installation video of this hitch on a Highlander for you....

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2011 Toyota Highlander that Allows Use of Full Size Spare
For your 2011 Toyota Highlander, the Draw Tite hitch part # 75726 that you referenced will be your best option. It allows you to keep your full sized spare and it does not require a stabilizer strap when carrying a non-supported load like a bike rack. I attached an install video. For trailer wiring you then would want the part # 118449 which is a confirmed fit. This harness stows inside the rear hatch area of the vehicle so a mounting bracket would not be needed.

  • Trailer Hitch that Fits Full Size 19 Inch Spare on a 2011 Toyota Highlander for Use with Bike Rack
Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75726 will allow you to keep the full size spare under the vehicle. the only issue is that when raising and lowering the spare you will need to angle it in since it will not be able to go straight down or up. I have linked a video showing installation for you. There is a special note in the instructions which I have linked for you. The note states that when storing the spare, it is necessary to lift up on the rear edge of the tire to clear the hitch. In other...

  • What Towing Package Is Available For 2008 Toyota Highlander
You will want to check your owners manual or with the Toyota dealer for the gross towing weight capacity of your 2008 Toyota Highlander to make sure the towing capacity is not exceeded. Even if the hitch will have a higher weight capacity than your vehicles gross towing weight capacity the towing capacity is determined by the lowest weight capacity in your whole towing setup. There is not a cutout diagram available, and the underbody panels will simply need to be removed when installing Draw-Tite hitch # 75726 on your 2012 Toyota Highlander. The directions state how to do this: "Remove the plastic rivets that fasten the fascia tabs to the appearance panel. Note: Remove the center of the rivet with a small screwdriver."
