The Trailer Hitch came damaged in that the black covering on the square connector was partially torn off. I had given the hitch to my gas station who installed it but unfortunately did not inspect it before giving it for installation. They showed the damage after they had installed it. I guess I will have to live with it but not happy that it was damaged in transit.

2019 Toyota Highlander

I bought this to put on my 2008 Toyota Highlander Sport. It's a very nice, well built hitch. It fit perfectly, even with my full size, 19 inch, spare tire. The only complaint I had about it was the packaging. The box arrived via the brown truck and was torn at both ends by the edges of the hitch, which caused the hitch to have a few nicks and scratches to the paint. The delivery driver even apologized for it. I contacted etrailer.com via email. Their customer service was great, responding in just a few hours. We worked out a solution. This hitch is very well made. It's welded together and the bolt holes lined up perfectly with my Highlander's. It's heavy and awkward, so I do recommend two people to put it on. Installation was easy...my 13 year old nephew helped me. You could probably put it on by yourself, but two people make it easier as you have to lift it over the exhaust pipe. The video tutorial was definitely a plus! One thing I had to do that the video didn't show was to remove the cover on the tip of the exhaust pipe. I know not all models have one, but the sport models do. It's easy to remove by loosening the bolted on clamp. I didn't have to lift the rear of the Highlander up, either. There is plenty of room to get underneath the vehicle to work and do this (I'm a big guy). The hitch also has a plate welded onto it near the receiver so you can attach a mounting bracket for the wire harness if you want to run it to the outside of your vehicle. I used the mounting bracket (Item 18144) here: . It comes with locking screws and fits perfectly. Overall, this is a solid hitch that is priced well and looks great! I had thought about buying the OEM from Toyota, but I'm glad I didn't. This one is just as good (if not better) at only a quarter of the cost and I didn't have to pay anyone to install it. I will definitely be doing more business with etrailer.com! Great prices and customer service you can't beat! P.S. Sorry, but it was raining a little when I took the pics.

2010 Toyota Highlander

Bought the Draw-Tite trailer hits together with the Swagman XTC4 4-bike rack. Bought based on reviews on e-trailer and other sites that this is a sturdy and good-working combination for carrying 4 bikes. * Delivery: Fast (<5 days) * Packaging: Package had holes, which is not unusual as the box with the hitch has a lot of empty spaces. Others had same issue, but nothing to worry about. The hitch cannot really break easily and the hardware is safely stored in the 2inch receiver. * Installation: Very nice video instructions on etrailer. Installation really can use two people, but it's fairly easy with two people. Had some problems with one of the nine screws to bite although I did a try run before mounting the hitch. Worked after some minutes of wiggling the hitch so that the screw got the correct angle to bite. * Usage: Installed the day of delivery and used it the next day. It's the first time I used a trailer hitch and for sure the first time I used to carry 4 bikes. Stopped looking in the rear-view mirror after 1 minutes seeing that it's barely moving at all. So with a limited use so far I can confirm other's reviews of this combination and I think it works great. Recommended.

2009 Toyota Highlander

Research has brought me to etrailer.com to find the best hitch for my vehicle. I own a 2009 toyota highlander which is the hybrid limited model. I choose this hitch particularly because of the added tongue weight. 750 or 500 lbs... you decide which is better. This hitch has extra mounting tabs, so it doesn't just mount to the bottom of the frame but also the sides of the frame. It took 2 days to receive and less time to install. 45 minutes with 2 people. Do note that if you have mud guards than they must come off. I didn't remove the tail pipe to install, just man handled the hitch over it. Also, there is a tab on the back side of the facia in front of the exaust tip that has to go under the hitch. The bolts included with the hitch were a different size than what the manual says. They aren't 17mmm, they are 16mm. Overall the install went well so don't be intimidated by it if your not mechanicly inclinded. The wiring was really easy to install and as you can see in the picture I ran it through a hole in the body. I cut a small slit in the grommet and gently pushed the small end through so that any water won't come through. Worked like a charm. This was an aawesome experience!

Finally, the hitch mount is installed on my 2013 Toyota Highlander, you would need 10mm, 14mm, and 16mm, and 6" socket extender. In the manual, it said you need, 10mm, 12mm, and 14mm. Installation was easy, only 9 bolts, two persons makes job easier but i did the installation by myself. It took one hour or less. The hitch fits my vehicle steel frame bolts patterns perfectly so no issue with the install.

Leeza was a big help as this is my first hitch purchase and her expert advice made me a confident shopper. Delivery was exceptionally prompt and arrived for my birthday. Promised and delivered. There are a three things that really stood out for me. First, the installation instructions were easy to follow and involved little "trial and error". Although having three people guide the hitch into place for initial attachment is recommended. The wiring harness was easy-peasy! Second, I use this hitch mostly for pulling light loads around town, but, the week after installation I pulled a 12' tandem-wheel cargo trailer full of furniture over 800 miles through three mountain passes without a problem. Third, and more service related, the self-help tips on etrailer's website are invaluable.

The 1st one arrived damaged. I can't for the life of me imagine how the shipper got such a heavy duty item to get so bent and deformed. They must have driven a truck over top of it - it was crazy. But etrailer customer service was fantastic. They very quickly sent a replacement which was much better packed for transport and arrived in great condition. It fit perfectly, a quick and easy install all by myself. Great customer service. Too bad the shipper smashed up the 1st one.

Etrailer has everything one needs for most people to safely start towing by offering great products (hitches, wiring, draw bars, etc) as well as the information via document, video, and/or advisors to get the job done. I have purchased 2 trailer hitch receivers and wiring harnesses for my vehicles over the past few years and I have been very satisfied and I have saved money. I would definitely use etrailer again if I needed get towing with a different vehicle.

Comments
Our trailer hitch has worked out well. We do not do really heavy duty towing with it but I very much appreciate being to find a product that I can manage to fit my needs and also allows me to manage to save some money.

It looks like an well built unit. I will not have it installed until tomorrow. The unit was delivered wrapped solely in plastic thereby allowing a goodly amount of the powder coat covering to be chipped off.

2011 Toyota Highlander

My 13 year old son and I installed this in a little under two hours. Delivery was quick but the box was banged up. But who cares! It is a hitch. This hitch is solid and well built. Very nice finish. It is heavy and we had to use a box to help prop up my son's side during the install. I could barely lift my side for that matter but we figured it out. The installation video was spot on. We did have some rust in a couple of the bolt holes on the frame. I was glad we ordered the brush to help clean them out. Ended up having to use the wrench to drive one of the bolts through the rust so that we could then do the install. I have a another hitch on my other car and it started to rust nearly immediately. This is much higher quality and 1/2 the price.

Comments
Absolutely love the trailer hitch that I purchased. It is in great shape compared to the POS [trailer rental location] one I put on my other car years ago. :. I did have one problem though.

After balking at the cost to have an auto-shop add a trailer to our Toyota Highlander, we found etrailer.com and decided to take a chance. The "how to" videos factored considerably in our decision to buy ... they made it look so easy! And surprise! It really -WAS- that easy. We used standard block-type ramps (the kind you can buy for $40 ) to get the SUV up off the ground high enough to get underneath to do the work. Everything came off as easy as it was showed in the videos. Other than the fact this bar is a heavy so we had our teen daughter help hold it steady while we bolted it into place (i.e., get help for when you go to lift it), it went super smooth. Thanks for saving us $280 over the cost the car dealer quoted us! P.S. - be sure to watch the linked videos so you get the right trailer lighting attachment and ball hitch for your new hitch.

Comments
We are very happy with our trailer hitch, and all the accoutrements that we purchased with it. Your videos were enormously helpful, the hitch went on easily with a bit of help from our teenage daughter to lift it up into place, and we recommend your business to friends when they express an interest in getting a camper.

The quality of this hitch is excellent. I selected this hitch because I didn't want to have to add a strap for the use of a bike rack or cargo rack. The instructional video was excellent to watch before attempting this installation. Overall the installation would normally be very easy, however one of the holes of my hitch was off about 1/32 of an inch. Just enough to make me have to take it off and grind out the hole a bit. Once I did that, it was very easy installation. Definitely a 2 man job to get the hitch in place until you get a couple bolts in. Unlike the video though, I only cut the driver side panel. The passenger side panel went in without modification. Despite one hole being off a tiny bit, I won't slight the product as I cant be certain if it was the car or the hitch that was off. First time ordering at Etrailer.com but I have to give them 5 stars for customer follow up. Very pleased with the customer service.

I feel like I should do two reviews, one for etrailer.com, and one for the hitch itself. First, etrailer.com: the box came HEAVILY damaged, with the UPS driver even remarking that I should send it back. I called etrailer.com immediately and sent them pictures of the box. I then opened the box to find the hitch knicked in some places. I took pictures and sent those to etrailer.com as well. They were very prompt and professional in their responses and handling of the situation. We found an amenable solution and that took care of that. So, if could rare the packaging, that would be a 1, but their customer service definitely earns them a 4-5. Now, the hitch. I watched the install video about 3 times before tackling the installation. Got to say, with no lift and no additional help, pretty darn easy. Had to do some interesting positioning (holding one side up with my feet while pushing the hitch up and over the exhaust on the other side) to get the job done, but it went well. One minor issue that others mentioned is the misalignment of one bolt hole, but with a little muscle I was able to get the bolt in and tighten it. In all, took me about an hour, had I had a lift and an extra set of hands, easy 20 min. install. Looks great and so far works great.

I got my bumper mounted (Draw-Tite) and I'm pleased with it. The receiver sticks out further past the bumper than I like but considering how it barely clears the spare tire underneath there's not much that can be done to change that. At most it could be shortened about an inch using up all the clearances but it would still stick out some. I had to modify (cut some plastic) on the driver side under body panel piece to clear the receiver frame mount. Basically the existing access hole in the plastic panel for the shipping tie down bracket just needed to be lengthened to the front of the vehicle. The wiring harness kit instruction for the 2012 Highlander could use some revision. It was only after the under dash harness is installed that it says to install a fuse in the fuse holder - so another crawl up under the dash working in tight area to do that. Would have been a lot easier to install the fuse as the first step. Also, after removing all the panels in the rear quarter area to plug in the new harness and plug extension set, it says curl up the wire out of the way when not in use? Instead there is a plastic body plug down in the well area that a slot can be cut in and the plug pushed through it and then the plug run underneath to the receiver hitch and mounted in the bracket on the hitch that I also purchased. All in all the hitch fit very well and bolting it up was not problem once it was maneuvered up and over the exhaust pipe (I removed the exhaust tip for more clearance). Only minor complaint I have is that some scrap cardboard could have been used to pad the hitch before the shrink wrap was applied to better protect the metal edges/corners/ of the frame for shipping. I had a lot of paint touch up to do on paint edges and corners with some Rustoleum. Or better yet Draw-Tite could powder coat the assembly which would be more durable.

I bought a hitch for a bike rack. I appreciated the fact that I could look up products for the specific year, make, and model of my car. Once I found hitches, the video explaining the three hitches that would fit my car helped me make my final decision as to which one to buy. I had the hitch installed by a teacher/students in the Auto Collision shop of the Tech school where I teach. The teacher said it was very easy to install and a good learning experience for the students. It looks great on my car. And the price was very reasonable compared to what the dealership quoted. Thank you etrailer.com!

This is a nicely built hitch that fitted up to the car perfectly. My 16 year old grandson and I installed it in an hour with the car up on ramps and using only a few hand tools. Your installation video helped us know what we needed to do. I do have one complaint but it's about the packaging and shipping, not the hitch. The UPS gorillas easily overcame the packaging (wrapped in heavy plastic and taped) and ground the hitch down to bare steel in several locations. This happened to the last hitch I bought from etrailer also. The packaging and shipping department needs to find a way to protect these things from the brutes at UPS. I touched it up heavily with rustoleum but expect the hitch will start to rust in a few years. Sigh. Once a powder coated steel object starts to rust at a penetration in the coating, the rust spreads under the powder coat and then the coating falls off in sheets. That is what happened to the previous hitch, it still works great but is an ugly rusty mess after ten years on the back of the car.

Comments
Update a year later. The hitch has worked nicely. Mostly we tow a little utility trailer but now and then a big rental or borrowed trailer gets hooked up. No hassles with any load. The areas where the UPS goons damaged the finish are indeed starting to rust. Sigh. etrailer needs to find a better way of shipping or else find a way to protect their merchandise from their chosen shipper. Half these reviews talk about how the UPS brutes easily overcame the etrailer packaging and damaged the powder coating. Also - several folks commented about needing to the exhaust pipe a bit - you can avoid that by just removing the shiney metal exhast tip. Without the cosmentic tip in place, the hitch slides over the exhaust pipe just fine. Then reinstall the shiny tip. Less effort than taking down the exhaust pipe, in my opinion. Nice product!

Really fast two day free shipping. Installation was a breeze on my 2011 Highlander. Everything lined up exactly. Didn't have to modify the passenger side underbody panel. Driver side needed to be trimmed a little. Was able to get everything done except the driver side panel in less than an hour by myself. I put the driver's side on a jack and raised it. I lifted the passenger side into place and put the bottom bolts in about half way and repeated on driver's side. Installed the rest of the bolts on both sides half way and finished up by tightening all bolts.

Comments
I am enjoying the trailer hitch. It does what is supposed to and hasnt given me any problems. I plan on purchasing another hitch for my 2017 Toyota Camry in the near future. Thanks.

Then to transform that 4-way to a 7-way, we typically recommend the # ETBC7, because this kit will allow you to simply plug in that 4-way and includes all the items you need to finish setting it up for a 7-way and brake controller. It's always a good idea to put dielectric grease like # 11755 between...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for a 2008 Toyota Highlander
For your 2008 Toyota Highlander the Draw Tite Hitch part # 75726 that you referenced is a confirmed fit. It does not include wiring so for that you would also need the # 118449. I attached install videos for both of these products for you to check out as well. The hitch has a 5,000 lb towing capacity so it would have no problem towing a 1,300 lb trailer. You would need to check the owners manual and be sure not to exceed this figure either. If you wanted to do some towing you might...

  • Is there an Aftermarket Trailer Hitch that Fits Like the OEM Hitch for a 2012 Toyota Highlander
I do see the hitch that you are talking about. None of the aftermarket hitches from the manufacturers that we carry will fit the same way. However, if the main concern is to tow your trailer level, then go with a Class III trailer hitch with a 2 inch receiver and then choose a ball mount with a rise on it to tow the trailer level. You use the FAQ on ball mounts I have linked to determine how to measure. I have also included a link to the ball mount main page for you. The most popular...

  • Bolt Torque Specs for Installing Draw-Tite 72726 Class III Trailer Hitch on 2012 Toyota Highlander
On the product page for the Draw-Tite # 75726, on the right side of the page you'll see a link to the installation instructions. On page one of the instructions at the bottom of the page, you'll see the recommended torque ratings. Because the torque ratings can change over time, we don't publish them. That link pulls the instructions directly from Draw-Tite, so they're always the most up to date instructions available. I'll also link you to an install video showing the hitch being...

  • Underbody Trim Panel Removal on 2012 Toyota Highlander for Installing Draw-Tite Hitch 75726
The written installation instructions for the Draw-Tite hitch # 75726 are linked for your reference. These note in item 1 that the passenger-side panel can be reinstalled after hitch installation but not the driver-side panel, as you state. However, I see no reference made to panel trimming diagrams. I did check with my technical contact at Hidden Hitch and he confirmed that there is no panel trimming diagram or guide available. You may have referred to the instructions for the Curt...

Yes, the Draw-Tite Class III - 2 inch # 75726 will fit a 2010 Toyota Highlander with a full size spare tire. This hitch has a 2 inch receiver opening and has a maximum Gross Towing Weight (GTW) of 5,000 pounds, and a maximum Tongue Weight (TW) capacity of 750 pounds. Please note that the installation instructions specifically state when stowing the spare tire, it is necessary to lift up on the rear edge of the tire to clear the hitch. • Is Fascia Trimming Required to Install Draw-Tite Class III 87615 Hitch 2011 Toyota Highlander
When the Draw-Tite Class III receiver is installed on the 2011 Highlander, there will be no need to trim the fascia under the rear bumper. The top of the receiver tube will sit just below the bottom edge of the fascia. Some Highlander models are equipped with under body appearance panels, which need to be removed in order to install the hitch. The appearance panel on the passenger side can be reinstalled if you desire, but the drivers side panel will remain off. The existing tow hooks...

  • Tow Package Recommendation for a 2011 Toyota Highlander
We have everything that you need to set up your 2011 Toyota Highlander for towing. First, if you don't already have a trailer hitch, I recommend installing the Draw-Tite Max Frame Class III Trailer Hitch # 75726 because it has more than enough capacity for your vehicle and it is rated for use with a weight distribution system if necessary. Next, if you don't already have a tail light wiring harness with a 4-pin connector like part # 118449, then you will want to install this item as...

  • Does 2013 Toyota Highlander Passengers Side Appearance Panel have to be Trimmed for Hitch Install
Usually if trimming is required there is a diagram in the instructions. In this case for hitch # 75726 on the 2013 Toyota Highlander it only states that the passenger's side panel can be reinstalled and not that trimming is required. That is why there isn't a diagram. If you choose to put the panel back on and it won't fit without trimming you would have to use the hitch as a template and trim the panel as needed.

  • Will Draw-Tite Class III Hitch # 75726 Clear Full-Sized Spare Tire on 2013 Toyota Highlander
The Draw-Tite Class III hitch you referenced, part # 75726 is indeed compatible with the 2013 Highlander equipped with a full-sized spare. To lower the spare tire, you will need to push forward as you are lowering it, so it will clear the hitch. The same procedure will apply when raising the spare. I have provided a photo showing how the hitch sits in relation to the spare tire. To wire your Highlander with a 4-pole connector to provide lighting functions for towing a trailer, I would...

The plastic appearance panel on the driver's side will need to be removed for installation of the Draw-Tite Class III Trailer Hitch, item # 75726 on the 2010 Toyota Highlander. The CURT Class III Round Tube Trailer Hitch, item # 13534, will also allow for the passengers side appearance panel to be reinstalled and the drivers side will need to be left off. • What Towing Package Is Available For 2008 Toyota Highlander
You will want to check your owners manual or with the Toyota dealer for the gross towing weight capacity of your 2008 Toyota Highlander to make sure the towing capacity is not exceeded. Even if the hitch will have a higher weight capacity than your vehicles gross towing weight capacity the towing capacity is determined by the lowest weight capacity in your whole towing setup. • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2011 Toyota Highlander
All of the available trailer hitches for a 2011 Toyota Highlander (see link) will have a cross tube that will be visible beneath the rear fascia of the vehicle. There is currently no after market design that has the cross tube hidden and the receiver through a cut out in the rear fascia. It is possible that Toyota has a hitch that installs in this manner but none of the manufacturers we carry have an option like this. If you decide to go with the Draw-Tite hitch # 75726, and plan to...

  • What is Included in Tow Package on a 2008 Toyota Highlander
The features and equipment that constitute an auto maker's OEM "tow package" can vary by vehicle manufacturer, vehicle model and model year. Auto makers may change the elements of a "tow package" for any number of reasons. The best way to determine exactly what your particular Highlander's equipment and capacities are is to contact your local dealership with the VIN number. They can then determine exactly how it is equipped. If you have need for a weight distribution system for your...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2009 Toyota Highlander that Accommodates 19 Inch Full Size Spare
In order for the full size spare tire to still be able to be stowed under the vehicle, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Round Tube Receiver # 75726. Installation of this hitch will require removal of the tow hooks and, if present, the plastic appearance panels that cover the frame rails. No drilling is required to install this hitch. The hitch crosstube will prevent the tire from being lowered straight down, but if the tire is pushed toward the front of the vehicle while it's...

The Draw-Tite trailer hitch, # 75726, will fit your 2008 Toyota Highlander with the factory OEM 19 inch full-size spare tire. There is a special note in the instructions which I have linked for you. The note states that when storing the spare, it is necessary to lift up on the rear edge of the tire to clear the hitch. In other words you will need to get just the right angle to get the spare back up in position, but it all does fit together. If you plan on doing some towing, I recommend...
