Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2011 Chevrolet Impala

Today on this 2011 Chevy Impala we are going to install a Curt Hitch part number, part number C12252. Here are a couple of measurements that will assist you in selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the pin hitch hole to the outer most point of the bumper is 7. From the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 13-3/4 . Now lets go ahead with our installation. Before we can install our hitch we will need to remove the exhaust.

We will remove these two hangers here and lower the exhaust, but before I lower my exhaust Im going to go ahead and put a safety strap underneath of it so we can control how far and fast it will fall. Now to remove the hangers Im going to use a little spray lubricant first, this will make it easier to remove and install later. We will go ahead and use a pry bar and simply remove the rubber hanger from the upper portion of the hanger bracket. With our hangers removed we can go ahead and lower the safety strap so that the exhaust will come down. To give myself a little more working room, I am going to go ahead and remove the hanger off the exhaust pipe also.

Now we can lower our safety strap and this will give us enough working room. Weve got a total of 6 fastening points, 4 on the frame, 2 on the drivers side, 2 on the passengers side, and then weve got 2 on the cross member between the frames. Everything we show you on the drivers side we will repeat exactly on the passengers side. We will take our bolt leader and go up through our fastening point and out the access hole, then we will slide our block on our bolt leader, thread our carriage bolt and push the block up into the frame. And I will put my bolt into the frame, pull them both into position.

I remove my bolt leader and repeat the same process for the other 5 fastening points. Now with all of our fasteners in position we will go ahead and put our hitch up. Its a good time to get an extra set of hands to help you hold it in place; we will be installing our inch flange nut. With our flange nuts we will just tighten them down finger tight. Now that we have them all in place we will go ahead and tighten them down.

With all the nuts tightened down we will go ahead and torque to specifications as indicated in the instructions. Now that we have all of our fasteners tightened down to specifications we will go ahead and reinstall the exhaust. Theres our two muffler hangers and we have our one muffler hangers. With our hangers reinstalled we will go ahead and remove our safety strap. And that will conclude the installation of our Curt Hitch part number C12252 on a 2011 Chevy Impala.

What a great experience! Ordered on Friday, shipped on Sunday via UPS ground, received it on Wednesday, and installed it today in about an hour. Service was great, with emails before shipping, during shipping (w/tracking link), and after arrival with helpful information. I'm not a mechanic and installed it by myself in my garage after sunset so I had to use a flashlight to help on the visibility. Installation was still as easy as the videos on the etrailer website demonstrated. It was a little heavy and you do need to be careful because I did knock one of the bolts up into the frame and had to fish it out. It wasn't too hard to get out but I did get that sinking feeling! Make sure you have a deep socket and a 4" extension to help ensure you have good clearance when tightening the nuts. The receiver is as invisible as the pictures on the website show. I'll use etrailer for all of my future towing equipment needs!!! Thanks to George, Josh, and Patrick! 77887

Im as happy today as I was a year ago. Ive used the hitch more times than I can count and havent had any troubles at all. Now Ive gotten a follow-up email asking how things have worked out...and I couldnt feel any better. Thanks again for putting out a product that works as advertised and for the prompt and thorough customer service!!

this trailer had the right hardware and came with an easy to use bolt fishing tool to make installation incredibly easy. For my model of impala I found out would have been impossible to install without their thoroughness in making the installation instructions and hardware as complete as they did. Being that it was custom made for my model (not a universal model) every bolt hole was where it needed to be. It was the easiest hitch install ever. A year later and the salty winter roads of New York haven’t touched the paint finish on the hitch (I do inspections after winter and in the fall of all my cars because of the salt and do cleanings, and paint touch ups) I have to say the product is great but also had great experience with ordering it as well :) 698858

This was easy to install with just some jacks to lift the car and something to tighten the bolts with and the muffler dropped down by just using silicon spray on the rubber mounts and pushing them off the hangers then pushing them back on after the hitch was installed. Fast shipping, all the parts where included, easy to order, I would buy from etrailer again! 559363

Well built, everything fit as it should. No missing parts. Instructions said 60 minutes installation time for a novice, took me about an hour and a half due to operator error (put the wrong length bolts in a couple of holes) and had to let the dogs out three or four times. Instructions (plus the video) were very clear and helpful. Helpful tip, definitely put the car up on ramps, the extra ground clearance is nice to have. A bit awkward to lift the unit by yourself, but do-able, just take it easy. Everything fit well. The bolt fishing wire process is a bit tedious, but not having to do any drilling is well worth a menial task. Exhaust hangers come off pretty easy, go back on a lot easier. All in all, good solid product, no issues, very satisfied. 417398

I got a new Impala and needed a trailer hitch to take my boat to the lake, and for my last car I had taken it to a local shop to install one. But when I inquired into the cost of a new hitch and installation I got sticker shock. So I went online to eTrailer to do some shopping. The price for the hitch was very affordable and I endeavored to get one and install it myself, and save some money. The installati0on videos for the hitch and the wiring harness were really good, and gave me the confidence that I could install it myself. The hitch came, and I got my tools and had it installed wit the harness in about 30 minutes... it was incredibly easy and I was able to take my boat to the lake immediately after for my first sail of the year. The eTrailer staff was very helpful and I highly recommend them, I really felt that I was dealing with a company that took customer service seriously. My experience getting this hitch and installing it was flawless... if you're looking for a hitch and you are a little scared of the installation... take heart... this company gives you everything you need including video instruction. And the price was very affordable. 260178

  • 1-1/4-Inch Class II Hitch Bike Rack for Heavy Schwinn Bike
The hitches made for your 2007 Chevrolet Impala are the 1-1/4-inch Class II type, Draw-Tite # 36407 and Curt # C12252. Both offer the same weight capacity of 300-lbs tongue weight and both are no-drill bolt-on installations using included hardware. The Curt hitch is made here in the USA. You will need to use a Class II-rated hitch bike rack; all such carriers appear on the linked page. Most bike racks, like the Swagman XTC # S64670, top out at a 35-lbs bike weight rating but we do have...

  • Which Hitch for 2006 Chevy Impala would be Most Concealed
I have the info you are looking for, but the Hidden Hitch and the Draw Tite hitches are basically the same thing as they are both made by the same company. Curt is different as it is a completely different company. The Curt is going to have the edge on which is the most concealed as it is the most recessed under the bumper. The Draw Tite # 36407 is going to sit just as high as the Curt # C12252 but it would stick out more horizontally. I attached pictures of both installed on a vehicle...

This is a Class ll hitch and it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. The other trailer hitch is the Draw-Tite, part # 36407. This is also a Class ll hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. Hidden Hitch and Draw Tite are both made by the same company so basically they are the exact same with the exception that the Hidden Hitch part # 90137 (no longer available) comes with a ball mount and a pin and clip and the Draw Tite part # 36407 does not come with this. Curt is it's own company so the part # C12252 would be similar but made by a different company. • Trailer Hitch And Cargo Carrier For 2013 Chevrolet Impala
For your 2013 Chevrolet Impala, the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # C12252, is a good fit. This requires no drilling for installation and has a 1-1/4 by 1-1/4 inch hitch receiver opening. This is a Class ll hitch. I did some research and found that the maximum towing capacity for your Impala is 1,000 lbs. Tongue weight is approximately 10 percent of the towing capacity so you can carry about 100 lbs, including the weight of the carrier you place in your hitch. You will want to either consult...
