This fully welded trailer hitch receiver bolts onto your vehicle's frame with no welding required. Powder coated steel is sturdy and corrosion resistant.I routinely use this to tow around 2,500 lbs with a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe. It’s rated to tow more, I’ve just never had the need. I’ve never had any issues with it. The only change I would suggest if I was doing a redesign is to make a place to accommodate a wiring harness. I had to working around it and put the seven pin adapter lower than I wanted to.
I had been searching for a few years for the right hitch receiver at an affordable price when I stumbled upon the etrailer.com website. The site was easy to use and search for what I wanted and needed. After a couple of months of contemplating in purchasing this product from the sight, I did my due diligence and searched other sites for the correct product fit that met my needs and cost. The other sites couldn't match the price and product availability. In addition, the DIY videos on the etrailer.com site gave me the confidence to complete the install. From installing the hitch receiver to the connection of the 4-pole wiring kit(hint: if you're vehicle has the prewiring for towing, they have the custom kits to match). The install in total took me about 45 minutes (it helps to have the right tools as well) from prep to finish. Now that I have the capability to tow, I'm going to be able to save on the cost of rentals and now I am even looking at getting a family camping trailer, since our Santa Fe model can tow a good size one. The attached pictures show the completed install. Thanks for everything etrailer.com! You definitely found a new customer and I will be highly recommending this site to my circle of family and friends.
The installation was very easy. The [online] video explained beforehand everything I had to do, and all the provided nuts and bolts matched perfectly my car.
Beyond satisfied with quality of product, shipping, packaging, and communication. Installing tow hitch was easy peasy. Did not have to drop spare tire and bolts/nuts went on without any issues. Super happy with product. It is heavy duty and solid!
This hitch was packaged very well and turned out to be a straightforward install. The included instructions were useful and watching the video of this hitch being installed on our vehicle model made the installation totally clear. One nice side benefit was that after lowering the spare tire, I checked it and added air pressure to set it back to 60psi since it was way down at about 15psi. We're ready to add a bike rack next and get going.
Install was quick and it works for my purposes without complaint. It's also clear that the limiting factor is going to be the towing capacity of my vehicle and not the hitch receiver, though I'm not planning to tow anything that's all that close to either.
I wasn’t given the proper hitch at the time based on what I had asked about the hitches. I have a Sante Fe Sport Limited. Not Sante Fe Limited. Due to covid and not being able to ship US it was too expensive to send back with Canadian shipping. I still have the hitch on my garage floor.
Great hitch for our Santa Fe. Nice clean hidden hitch installation. Thanks etrailer
The hitch fit perfectly, but the mounting was a challenge. I tried mounting it by myself (before a friend showed up) and finally found that by "hanging it from 214" cable ties thru the carriage bolt holes in the frame, I was able to raise it into place. Had to remove one rubber grommet from the driver side frame rail to get it in place. After that, needed to tap (not drive) the carriage bolts into place, but everything lined up and after I got it in place, it was about 20 minutes to bolt it fully. Needed a 3" extension on the torque wrench to get around the exhaust system. Removed spare to aid in installation.
Purchased this hitch for my 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe. Price was excellent on etrailer.com. Installation took me over an hour. It was the first time I installed a hitch and used a torque wrench. Getting the bolts to the specified torque is what took me the longest due to inexperience and working without a lift. Save money on the installation and do it yourself you will be happy with the end result.
My wife and I just finished installing the Curt trailer hitch on my 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe. It's great to have a partner that likes to get involved in fun projects like this. I also used the Curt wiring harrnes that was specified for my car. WOW it was so easy just like all the reviews testified. We are both very pleasd with the product and most of all the CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was a former Wood shop instructor at our local high school. For 37 years I emphasized attitude, respect, responsibilty and customer service. Every staff member that I talked to was polite, respectful and knowledeable. What a refreshing experince. I have allready told many of my friends about my experience and fell good about directing them to etrailer. I will be buying my wife a 2017 Hyundai Tuson. We will defintly purchase the hitch and all the trailer accessories from etrailer. I will give my wife a hand installing her hitch. Thank you Tori @ etrailer.com! Sincerely, Dave & Deb Phoenix, AZ & Oxnard, CA
Perfect fit for my 2017 Hyundai SantFe XL Limited. It took me and my neighbot about an hour to install the hitch and wiring in his garage. I really like how the hitch hides behind the hitch cover on the bumper.
I am so happy with my purchase and will definitely recommend etrailer. I was going to have a hitch dealer put one on my 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe, they wanted over $500. I. I saved money. 2. it arrived within a few days. 3. It only took an hour to put on. I bought the hitch cover with a light to check the wiring, since the lights on my trailer are not working.
This product is amazing. My husband had done a TON of research before deciding to go with this hitch and we are so extremely happy we did! We are a family of 5 and this rack is great for multiple bikes. The locking mechanism puts us at ease for us to be able to do things like shopping or groceries knowing they are secured and nobody will steal them. We absolutely love the trailer and the hitch was quite simple to install! Definitely recommend!!!!
Was such an easy instal, the directions were precise, very straight forward, and just an over all nice experience. And it was easy to choose the right hitch for our car, because of the descriptions. Thankyou
The hitch has worked well for my bicyle rack. It has been more than adequate. Have not really used it for anything else other than the University of Arizona cover I put on it when not in use. It displays that very well too.
I’ve bought two trailer hitches from etrailer and both have been excellent. Use this hitch with a cargo carrier for the back of a Hyundai Santa Fe and have been very pleased
Looks and works great! The instructions were clear and even pointed out some possible sticking points and what to do about it. I love that the trim piece can be reinstalled and you would never know the receiver was ever installed.
The hitch receiver shipped quickly and arrived on time. The install was actually really easy. The directions were very clear, and they have videos to help with the install as well. If you don't have the proper tools, including a torque wrench, you may want to have a professional do this. I'm very happy with this purchase!
Etrailer pricing are so affordable, compare to other manufactural of hitch product out there! Easy installation within 15min you are done. Thanks Etrailer Team :-)
Great product! Very easy to install. I never have enough room for stuff on long trips so I bought ithe hitch and a flat cargo carrier as well. It took 90 minutes to have them both ready to go! If it won"t fit now, we have too much stuff!
I recently bought the Curt receiver (p/n C13153) and Tekonsha 4-pin harness (p/n 118269) for use on our new 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited Ultimate. We use the hitch to tow a small utility trailer occasionally, and more often use it with a hitch-mounted bike rack. I also ordered a mounting bracket kit and companion adapter plate since I had hoped to have the 4-pin connector mounted to the hitch (v. just zip-tied, etc). For installation of the receiver I dropped the spare tire since it is easy and helps for maneuvering the receiver into place. I did not lower the exhaust. I cleaned the tapped holes in the frame with a spray lube and wire brush prior to mounting, and I think this is a necessary step since a couple of the holes were pretty gunked-up. I checked by running the M10 screws in prior to putting the hitch in place, which I also recommend. I did not have a 2nd person available to help put the receiver in place to install but I had success using a floor jack and a piece of 2x6 to lift the receiver into place and start all the screws. It took a little patience to maneuver past the exhaust but really the fitment of the hitch is very good and it wasn't a bad struggle. A helper is probably the best way to go. As others have said, the videos provided by etrailer.com are really helpful. I finished the hitch installation by torqueing the screws and installing and torqueing the carriage bolts. It is a bit of a job (at least for me) to get the proper torque for the carriage bolts when laying on my back like that, but the overall connection seems super-secure. The spare tire did not interfere with the receiver after installation, though as you'd expect the clearance is small. After the receiver was done I installed the wiring harness. Once again, the video was really helpful and everything went quite smoothly. I found I needed to supply a few of my own zip-ties to secure the wiring to both the hitch and the factory wiring bundle since the provided ones were too short. After this I attempted to mount the 4-pin mounting plate to the hitch but I could not find an orientation that I was happy with and which would not interfere with the removable trim cover for the hitch. On the other hand, I found I was satisfied with leaving the 4-pin connector hooked to the check-chain hole in the receiver, so that is how I will leave it. After finishing the installation I hooked up our trailer. I found that there is a good amount of space in the check-chain openings, at least for our trailer, and the wiring connection (trailer lights) worked perfectly. When I went to install our bike rack I was a little concerned about the space around the hitch hole for the head of the bolt, but when I installed the hitch and anti-rattle bolt the fit was fine. Overall I'm quite happy with the hitch and wiring harness and I'm looking forward to many years of use. As always, etrailer.com was great to deal with and I would always recommend them to anyone looking for towing equipment and accessories.
Arrived as promised, instructions and videos to install where accurate. Will buy from etrailer again.
This was the third hitch I’ve bought from etrailer and this was the easiest. My other SUV’s had a single exhaust that required dropping the tailpipe. This vehicle, a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe XL Limited Ultimate, has a split tailpipe that provided plenty of access without dropping the exhaust, once I cranked down the spare tire. Working at a very leisurely pace I spent about 1 hour including putting all my tools away. This also included installing the wiring harness. One note: Some on line videos showed the wiring harness going over the exhaust which in my experience, placed it way too close to the exhaust. I was able to train it behind the bumper and over the frame which provided a physical barrier from the exhaust
Thank God for this hitch looks good and tucks under car bought for my trailer and cargo carrier and when not using it I'm able to put stock car cover over it to hide hitch and plug ins.. Very well made easy install and gives the most ground clearance by it's design no problems what so ever, can not say enough good about Curt all items I have bought have been great love to test and try new items from them .. so far I have been nothing but pleased
