Question:
I have a 2016 Hyundai Sante Fe base model that I want to install a trailer hitch on to pull a pop up camper we occasionally borrow from my father in law, what all do I need for this?

To tow a pop-up trailer with your 2016 Hyundai Sante Fe, I recommend starting with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13153. This is a simple bolt on application that will serve you well.
For your trailer wiring, I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56184. This 4-way flat connector will connect to the factory plugs located in your rear cargo area most likely behind the interior side panels.
If the camper has trailer brakes then you will need the Universal Brake Controller Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This will give you the wiring, connectors, and everything you need to install a brake controller. For that brake controller I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This is a proportional brake controller that applies the trailer brakes at the same time and with the same amount of force as you hit the brake pedal in your Santa Fe.
Finally you will need a ball mount. I recommend the etrailer ball mount kit # 989900 for your Santa Fe. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If you want an adjustable mount, I recommend the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 5" Drop, 5-1/2" Rise - 10K - Black # BWTS10037B because of its adjustability, ball options, and stowable feature.
This will complete your towing setup for your 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe.
