Does Ball Mount Length Need to be Factored When Picking Out Ball Mount with Curt Hitch 12264
Published 11/03/2022 >
Question:
Can you suggest an easy way to determine what length of ball mount is recommended with this hitch and or needed for an individual application. In my case a boat trailer in particular. I can forward a picture if helpful. I want to make sure there is plenty of clearance from point on boat trailer closest to back of vehicle to clear during towing and turning the vehicle. Thanks!

Boat trailers typically have pole tongues which typically don't have any issues with turning clearances. Typically even a-frame trailers aren't prone to clearance issues unless it's just a really short tongue and a really wide trailer. The Curt hitch part # C12264 is in a pretty standard location under the rear bumper so I would not anticipate any issues with the trailer hitting the vehicle with turning.
Typically it's the rise/drop figure that is more important as that's what allows the trailer to sit level like it needs to be. I attached a help article on how to pick out the correct rise/drop for you to check out as well.
