This Curt trailer hitch is made for light-duty towing and small accessories. There is another hole in the frame member on the other side of the exhaust mount shown in your photo. The hole could be covered with a plastic plug, tape or undercoating, you might need to take a putty knife to the underside of the frame member to scrape away any undercoat or grime that might be covering the mounting hole.

Is this approved by Mazda? My dealership told me that a hitch would not be possible for my 2014 Mazda 3i Hatchback. I need one for a bike rack.

After owning the hitch for a year, I couldnt be happier with the hitch. Having a hitch mounted bike rack is a much better solution than a roof rack. Amazing hitch for the money!
