Relatively easy to install as a DIYer, works well to hold my ski and bike racks. I appreciated the installation videos on the website.

Easily installed and doing the work of supporting a bike rack very well. It is offset enough to clear the hatchback on a Mazda 3, which is very convenient.

Thats great - glad to hear that. :) Where are you headed with your bike, Jeremy? What kind of bike is it?

The linked install video was unbelievably helpful.
Shipping was fast and the updates were nice

It was delivered in good condition. Can’t wait till we can bikeride

by:
2017 Mazda 3

Shipping was prompt. Despite very little apparent damage to the box, the hitch had a few deep scratches and chips. I repaired these with black touch-up paint, but it shouldn't arrive like this. It would be nice if the mounting hardware (bolts and flat brackets) were stainless steel. Installation certainly requires the removal of the four rubber exhaust hangers. Use a jack stand under the main pipe to lower the muffler about two inches. The installation will be very difficult if attempted alone because the hitch has to be carefully moved into position and then the bolts to which guide wires are affixed have to be threaded through the holes on the brackets of the hitch.
The fit is good on a 2017 Mazda3 hatchback. Equal clearance all around and no interference with the exhaust pipes or bumper. Appearance wise, I think the Curt looks better than the Drawtite which a friend of mine has on his Mazda3.

2015 Mazda 3

My search for a hitch led me right to etrailer, and the selection and ordering process was a breeze. Shipping was very prompt and the installation process was relatively straightforward. The online video was helpful, but I own the hatchback model so there are a few differences I had to figure out. Some basic bicycle lubricant helped to free the muffler mounts so I could access the mounting points. The only thing I was not able to do on my own was touque the bolts due to the tight clearance of laying under my car, which was expected. The hitch preformed well with the bike carrier I own and I hardly notice the hitch with out the rack on board. Definitely a quality product at a great price and I would certainly recommend etrailer.

Instructions were good, install was easy, required no drilling or cutting for my application; 2104 Mazda 3 hatchback.

Removing the exhaust hangers was easy using a spray solution of water and dish soap, I used a cambuckle type of tie down hooked to the suspension to raise and lower the exhaust as needed. I unclipped a wire on the driver side frame to give a little extra space to position the hitch.

It helps to have a helper to position the hitch and hold it up while bolting it.

This is my second hitch from Etrailer and like the first one it arrived in good condition.

So far so good. Install on my Mazda 3 hatchback was easier with my dad. Look up “how to remove rubber isolators” to make sure you have the hardware at home. Everything else came with the kit. You’ve got to be careful with the bolts or you’ll lose them inside your frame.

I haven’t towed yet for two reasons:
1. 1-1/4” receiver size isn’t the most common, so I’m ordering a fitting part from etrailer.
2. This product doesn’t include a wiring kit (some others do).

I don’t get under my car often, so it was kind of a fun job. Aligning the hitch to the car’s frame was a challenge. Easier with 2 people.

I was just recently able to attempt installing my new equipment, but unfortunately it does not fit my vehicle.

I have a 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback, which this item is listed as fitting, but as you can see in the pictures the bolt holes are much farther apart on the equipment than on the vehicle.

It appears to have the correct product number which I ordered except that this item us not designed with a C as listed online.

Please advise on how to rectify the issue.

There is another hole in the frame member on the other side of the exhaust mount shown in your photo. The hole could be covered with a plastic plug, tape or undercoating, you might need to take a putty knife to the underside of the frame member to scrape away any undercoat or grime that might be covering the mounting hole.

2018 Mazda 3

The hitch receiver is great quality and looks good in my mazda 3 2018 hashback. Installation instruction was clear and easy to fallow it cleary indicates you need two people for easy installation, but unfortunately I did not have anyone available, so I ended up doing the installation by myself and still was moderate job (60 minutes). A little delay with shipping which is not etrailer fault, but their customer service was great and helped me duringbthe process until finally received my order. Overall good quality part and great service.

This is on a 2018 Mazda 3 hatchback. I give it 5 stars. And One can get it installed alone. Just one little thing, it was a bit tight. I had to "stretch" one side to line up the bolts. to do this I installed one side loosely and then got one the other side and pulled and shook until the bolts dropped through the holes. Also, as you can see in a couple of pictures you will need to relocate at wire during install. I popped in out, stowed it and then clipped in back in.

by:

Owned for 1 year. Was a bit of a pain to install. Save yourself some time and just remove the rear exhaust pipes before the install. Works great for holding my bike rack.

by:
2015 Mazda 3

The C11377 did not align properly with the frame holes on my 2015 Mazda3 iSport 4dr sedan and had to use the back feeder hole. Also had to trim some of the bottom spolier but not visible from the back. Also was one who pushed a screw back into the frame. Wish they would account for that and include 5 screws.

Great product, probably the 3rd hitch I have bought from entailed. Everything it's been shipped fast with no issues. Took about 30-40 min to install. Great product and company.

by:

Simple to install. Perfect fit. Excellent service!

by:
2014 Mazda 3

Not too difficult to install, instructions were clear and had helpful pictures. No Drilling or cutting, just dropped the exhaust (only held on by rubber grommets) and it bolted right in. I only used it for a tow hitch mounted bike rack and it was more can enough to hold 4 bikes. It seems like it would be very capable of hauling small trailers from uhaul or the trailers that hold canoe's or kayaks. Your major limitation is going to be the 1.25" opening, and your Mazda's engine power. The tow hitch is rock solid and I would recommend this to anyone looking to make their 2104+ Mazda3 more utilitarian.

I sold the car I installed in on - but last time I saw it, it was still working great!

by:

I gave a three star because the hitch did not properly fit my vehicle even though I provided the make, model and year. I had to make numerous modifications for it to fit on my vehicle. Before making those modifications I contacted you all to resolve the issues so that I could get a hitch that actually fit. One representative said they had the order pulled up and that they would get back with me and they did not. The second time I called they said the order did not exist. But I really wanted to get the hitch on my vehicle so I went to work on trying to figure out what I could do to make it work. I've been using it for quite a while so it seems to be working just fine now.

This was a perfect fit for my 2018 Mazda 3 Hatchback. At first it looked like I could get it in by jacking up the rear. Alas, not the case. However, raising the rear DOES make it easier to work on. If you can sneak a little screwdriver into the rubber muffler mount, and spray in some silicone or other lube, it makes the job of removing the mounts much easier. You only need to remove the BOTTOM part of the mount, by the way. The welds and powder coat finish look great...pleased with the product and looking forward to many miles pulling a small trailer with light boats or a motorcycle. Follow through with etrailer was very professional after they could not find the used hitch that I first ordered. Helpful and friendly....

2015 Mazda 3

I put one on my Mazda 3 hatchback and it was as simple as could be. No drilling or anything like that. Fish the bolts thru the frame and tighten it down, then plug in the wires and hide them by the spare tire. The nice thing about this setup is that the plug is always inside and out of the elements when not in use. Even someone with very limited mechanical skills should be able to install a hitch like the one I have. Videos helped too.

Mazda may not offer a factory or dealer installed hitch, but that does not mean that it is not possible. The C11377 was designed to bolt directly to the 2014 Mazda 3, without any modification to the vehicle frame. As long as you keep the load within the weight capacities of both the hitch and the vehicle, you will not damage the frame. Per the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, the hitch would only void the Mazda Warranty if it was the direct cause of the failure.

Good product, fantastic price! My only gripe, and it's a small one. I wish etrailer would have wrapped the hitch to prevent damage during transport. There are several spots where the powder coating is chipped off and living in the northeast this will just expedite the rust from setting in.

We now have 3 Curt manufacturing trailer hitches in our family on various years of Mazda3. They all fit perfectly and were easy to install for this middle-aged woman. I also bought harnesses from etrailer. They have excellent service and an excellent website from which to order. I have installed both the wire-in harness and the plug in; I would recommend the plug in one for occasional towing. I was able to install the wire-in harness after some YouTube learning about using a multimeter. I also learned how to temporarily lower the muffler to install the hitch. A different brand of hitch is available that can be installed around the muffler instead of having to lower it, but I wanted a Curt Manufacturing hitch, so after some more You Tube learning I installed it without problems. I would definitely order from e trailer again!

  • What Is The Best Way To Remove Bolts Installed Inside The Frame Using A Fish Wire?
Removing bolts installed using a fish wire is tricky but it can be done. The best way to remove the hardware from the frame is to use a flexible magnet, and pull the bolts out of the frame. Fish wires can help with this also. You will need a fish wire for a 1/2" bolt like part # C58400. Since the EcoHitch # 306-X7303 is rated for more weight than the curt hitch, it is a very good idea to remove the old bolts, and use the new hardware that comes with the EcoHitch.
