Hi, everyone. Steven here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at this Paneloc Slam Latch. It's 1 1/2 inches long by 1 1/4 inches wide, and it's a zinc-plated reverse angle pin. Now. this Slam Latch is gonna be ideal for trailer and shed doors.
It's a spring-loaded pin as you can see. You got a spring here. (device bangs) And it has that angled tip there. That's gonna provide easy hands-free latching action. It's a reverse angled tip and that allows the pin to automatically retract when you slam the door shut.
So whenever you're hitting this in, it's automatically pushing. Now, the square shape of the spring and everything here is going to prevent distortion and tangling. The rubber handle here gives yo a comfort grip on the latch. And the zinc-plated steel construction is gonna provide that corrosion resistance you need, especially if you have this outdoor. Now some quick dimensions.
Overall from the end to the tip, I was getting right about 2 7/8 inches, and the metal itself on the square piece here is about 3/8 inches thick. The rectangular portion here that you're actually gonna be using when you mount it, overall, I got about 1 1/2 long by 1 1/4 wide. And while we're there, I got 7/8 inches from center to center on the holes vertical. And when I flip it horizontal, I get about 3/4 inches center to center on the other way. So a very quick, simple look at this Paneloc Slam Latch.

Used on rolling drawers in my truck bed. They are very sturdy and durable. The finish is good and the spring is fairly smooth, but it does require regular lubrication in order to be dependable.
The latch was exactly what I needed for my project, a child’s safety gate. It latches easily when closing and requires a pull to open, easy for an adult while keeping the young ones safely contained.
