Today we're going to be taking a look at a E Track wood beam socket for standard 2-inch lumber. This bracket let's you attach a standard 2-inch board to an E Track anchor on your trailer. It allows you to build shelving, beds, dividers, and cargo restraints very quickly and easily. It's also easily adjustable which is one of the greatest features about the unit. It's got the spring-loaded clip right here, that way you can always adjust the height up and down on your E Track system. You can move this to any mounting location on your E Track system.
There's numerous holes in the bracket that allow you to secure the lumber to the socket or to the bracket. Hardware to do that is sold separately. You can use this with horizontal, vertical, and single E Track systems. Steel construction is very strong and durable, and it's going to have that yellow zinc coating or finish on it to do a great job at resisting rust and corrosion. You are going to get 1 wood beam socket. A few measurements to go over with you real quick.
If we take a measurement from inside edge to inside edge, that's going to give us a measurement of about 1 11/16 of an inch. The diameter of all the mounting holes on the unit are going to measure 1/4 of an inch. The elongated one measures 1/4 inch up and down and then front to back it's going to give us a length measurement of about 3/4 of an inch. The mount hole separation on center between these two bottom ones, those are separated on center by about 1 1/4 inch. Then this hole, and this hole, are separated in height by 1 inch.
If we take a measurement of the depth that we have, so from the bottom to the top, that's going to give us a measurement of 2 3/4 of an inch. From this back edge to the furthest out point, that's going to give us a measurement of 3 3/8 of an inch. Then we can measure from this back piece right here to the very front of the unit, that's going to tell us about how far it's going to stick out from the wall, well from the E Track mounting area. That's going to be about 3 3/4 of an inch. That's going to do it for today's look at the E Track wood beam socket for standard 2-inch lumber.

I think these are excellent products. I created a tire rack in my car trailer by installing E- track, supplied from E-trailer as well, on both sides of my trailer at a height equal to the height of my track car tires +3" from the top of the trailer. My car's hood actually goes right under near the tire rack and shelves. These E-Track Wood Beam snap into the E-track. I bought 2 - 2"X4"X8' pieces of wood for every beam I installed into the E-track across the trailer. For 6 beams, I need 12-2"x4"x8's of wood. I doubled every beam with 2-2"x4"x8' for strength. To do this, I used 2-1/2" coated deck screws and screwed them together. On both ends, where the 2"x4"x8's rest in these E-track Sockets, I separated the beams with the use of 2 washers per screw. That allows one 2"x4"x8" to slide down and rest in the E-Track Wood Beam Socket. I drilled holes in the beams to match up with the oval shaped holes, and then thru bolted the beams into these E-Track Socket brackets, so that the wood beams are secured in the brackets.
The total cost for each beam is approximately $15.00 vs. buying a pre-made AL E-Track beam for app $100. I'm using 6 beams for my needs. 2 beams for the tire rack, and 4 beams to create 2 shelf units. The shelf units will require a sheet of 1" 4'x8' plywood, which I will cut into 2-2'x8' sheets, and screw into the bottoms of the beams with cut outs to go around the E-Track Sockets, to create the shelves. Pretty easy, and pretty cost effective. The trick to this project is taking time to install the E-Track correctly at the correct height, and even as measured side by side. I "measured twice, and drilled once" when installing the E-Track. It's not rocket science, but take your time with it, double check the mounting points, the height, and position, and you'll be very happy with the project.
As always, buying all the material from E-Track helped make this project a snap and saved some serious money over the AL E-Track beams!

Everything has worked out perfectly. A beam solution using these e-Track beam brackets designed for wood 2x4s weighs more than an aluminum beam, but it cost less than 110th the price! I built 6 beams, so I saved $500 ! It is worth doing this solution!

I have finished my project with the e-track 2x4 holders. I installed a shelf in the front of my race trailer. The holders fit the e-track a little sloppy, but that was not an issue for me as I have everything tied together. The brackets could be a little narrower. I had to shim the 2" width to make the wood fit snugly.

As requested, here are some pics of my e-track installation. I find the raised e-tracks in the floor very problematic and dangerous so I made sure they were recessed. This is now an extremely versatile cargo trailer.

makes it very easy to mount a shelf in your trailer. i used it for a shelf in the front of my cargo trailer to hold motorcycle helmets, boots and riding gear. i cut a 4' e-track in half and backed the e-track with 3/4 plywood on each side of the trailer for support. in cut the 2 X 4 to length and then used a 2" wide strip of 3/4 plywood as a cleat that attached to the front of the trailer. cut the plywood shelf to fit and you have a sturdy shelf that sits over the front of your motorcycle. you can include vertical pieces of plywood for dividers and a 6 inch piece of 3/8 plywood to cover the ugly 2 X 4 and give yourself a 2" lip to help keep things in place.

I have these in a trailer I purchased. They are 12 footers that were mounted on the floor for bikes. I put two of them on the wall to hold toolboxes in place , but bought the 5 footers to complete the setup to hold the boxes secure. Really nice, easy to install and use. With two rows of eTrack on each wall of my trailer, I can use 4 of these to make a barrier with plywood and 2x4's that I can position as far forward or back as I want in my trailer.
For example I can put little stuff in the front and keep it there. The little stuff won't move backward, and the big stuff won't slide forward and crush the little stuff, if I must slam on the brakes.

The E Track 2x4 fasteners worked very well with the Vertical E Track in my new 6 x 12 enclosed cargo trailer. They are simple to install on the end of your 2 x 4 lumber and hold in place any shelves mounted on them. The locking pins insure they will not come out while in motion.

The Erickson E-Track Trailer Cargo Control tracks, part # E19148, are intended to mount to the structural components of a trailer. These locations provide the most secure mounting to ensure your cargo remains stable within your trailer during transport. The correct product to use to support the boards you plan on using to support the bed would be the E-Track Wood Beam Socket # 59149.
Since you will want to have the 2 by 4s on edge to support the plywood, and the only way the # 59149 could be installed in this fashion is if the e-tracks are installed horizontally on your trailer walls. We do not offer a socket that would hold the beam in the way you describe.

The main difference between the horizontal and vertical E-tracks is which way the slots on the bar run.
The horizontal E-track cargo control like part # E19148 can be mounted horizontally on the wall or floor in an enclosed cargo or open trailer. It also creates several tie down points to secure loads. I went out to the warehouse and pulled the E-Track Wood Beam Socket, # 59149, and I produced a short video showing the dimensions of the E-Track Wood Beam Socket and took some close up video so you can see how the wood beam socket works.

The box should have metal studs on the interior, along with wood 'rub strips' that run horizontally a couple feet up above the floor. Those wooden cross members that are attached to the metal studs provide an ideal mounting point for the e-track. I spoke with my contact at Erickson and she went out and put a E-Track Wood Beam Socket # 59149 into an E-Track Trailer Cargo Control # E19148 and found that the # 59149 would not hang over the bottom of the E-track once installed and would work for your setup.

The Erickson E-Track Wood Beam Socket you referenced, part # 59149, will work with 2 x 4 lumber or the 2 x 6 material you intend to use. These are usable with either vertical, horizontal or single-slot E-Tracks.
In your application you can use either one of the horizontal track lengths, such as 2-foot # EM59150 or 8-foot # E19135, or one of the other lengths offered, or you can use the single-slot # SLSU or 2-slot # EM19145.

I have a solution that should work pretty well for you. I'd run a strip of E-track like # E19148 along the edges of the trailer, at least at the front and rear of the trailer.
The E-track could be used to secure the lumber using a ratchet strap like # SLLS28RER. The straps are sold individually, so you'd want at least two. At the end of the E-Track, you could use a wood beam socket like # 59149 to secure a board like you have shown in the photo. The sockets are sold individually.
