Question:
I have mounted e-track horizontally along both the right and left walls with the track resting on top of the flooring. Will an e-track wood beam socket still fit into the e-track allowing the socket bottom to either rest directly on top of the flooring or slightly above? The concern is that the socket may have been designed with the lowest portion falling below the lower edge of the e-track and in my situation, it may not allow mounting to the e-track.

You could use a E-Track Wood Beam Socket with the E-track setup that you have.
I spoke with my contact at Erickson and she went out and put a E-Track Wood Beam Socket # 59149 into an E-Track Trailer Cargo Control # E19148 and found that the # 59149 would not hang over the bottom of the E-track once installed and would work for your setup.
I attached a review video for the E-Track system for you to check out also.
