Question:
I would like to shelve 1/2 of my trailer lengthwise. meaning I would like to use etrack in the ceiling and floor to hold a 2x4 with lumber clips and be able to shelve only half the trailer. I have an 18foot trailer and will be hauling lumber up to 16foot I would like to leave the other half of the trailer open to use for equipment or larger shop built items. have you hear of anyone using etrack in this manner. will it work? Thank you for your assistance

We can help you with an E-Track cargo solution to allow installation of shelving on one side of your 18-foot enclosed trailer. Rather than use ceiling- and floor-mounted tracks I suggest you consider using Erickson's Vertical E-Track # E19146 along with their E-Track Wood Beam Socket # 59149 on one interior wall. You will supply and install standard 2 x 4 lumber and hardware to create the horizontal portions of the shelving using the 2 x 4s..
The advantages of this method are reduced cost (since you need fewer pieces of track), less weight and the ability to quickly disassemble it. (Also, your trailer ceiling may not be rated for supporting a cargo load.) The wood beam sockets come right out of the tracks so if you needed the entire trailer free for cargo you could remove the shelves in just minutes and then put then back in when you're done.
In those same vertical tracks you can also install tie down rings # 59147 to help secure the lumber, or use E-Track Strap with Ratchet # EM59136.
E-Tracks should be secured with at least 2 suitable fasteners per linear foot on each side of the track.
