Video Transcript for Titan Chain Heavy Duty Alloy Snow Tire Chains Installation - 2018 Toyota Tacoma

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Toyota Tacoma, we're gonna be test fitting the Titan Chain heavy duty, alloy snow tire chains, part number TC2221SHD. These are heavy duty chains designed for this heavier snow and ice areas. So this is not something like with the rollers or with the smaller D links that you usually see. That's for your light snow situations. So these are our square link with ladder pattern design. Now the ladder patterns gonna help out with more effective starts and stops in heavy snow and ice and the lengths here are gonna give you superior grip in the ice while you drive as well and with the square links, while they will wear evenly over time, they'll also give you maybe not the smoothest of rides, but a much smoother ride than other style chains, such as twist lengths.

These are made form a manganese nickel alloy, which are corrosion resistant. So they will stand the test of time and they'll make them very strong and durable and despite the size and thickness of the chains, it's not gonna interfere with anything on the inside of your vehicle, such as the cables or equipment. These have a max speed rating of 30 miles per hour once you have them installed and they also come with a convenient reusable bag. So once you're finished using them and have them cleaned off, you can place them in the bag in the back of your truck and they're ready for next time. Today, we're working with tire size 24575R16. We went ahead and laid the chain out in front of the tire like you see it here and make sure there's no kinks in the lines before we installed it and we would like to recommend that you wear gloves while I install these because, see, this can be a little bit rough on the hands while you're doing this.

All right, we'll take our chains and we'll drape them over the tires as evenly as possible. See how we try to keep it even around and now we can go to the inside of the tire and make our first connection. So we'll take the end with our hook and the end with our links. We'll make a connection there and now we'll go back to the outside of the tire and make our connections there. So again, we'll take our link end and our hook. Place that through.

Bend it back and get it caught up. Now you can still see it's a little loose and that's where the rubber tensioners come in. These are sold separately. But they are recommended to be used with these chains. Today, we're using part number TCMA2.

We'll hook them around the chains and we'll go around connecting them and the way that these are designed to work is even if one breaks, you still have the others to keep that tension up around the tire as you drive. At this point, you want to drive a brief distance, make sure the tension's working properly and the chains are set properly and then you're ready to go. There you have it for the Titan Chain heavy duty, alloy snow tire chains on our 2018 Toyota Tacoma.

Review from a similar HD Alloy Snow Chains in Tire Chains

Big chunky chain, just like the product picture shows. I haven't actually driven on them yet, but they look well built. I felt I needed a big chain to deal with the added hitch weight of a 5th wheel trailer. I'm not a winter camper, but you never know when you might get caught in an early or late snowstorm in the mountains.

The tire chains power me through the snow like a bulldozer. Even give me the grip to pull others back on the road.

Review from a similar HD Alloy Snow Chains in Tire Chains

I got the chains that I ordered, they were exactly what I expected and they arrived when I expected. In this new walmart age of except whats available instead of what you want, that was very satisfying. The thing that will bring me back was the level of unsolicited communication provided through this whole process. Thank you etrailer for your level of dedication to me and the product delivery.

Review from a similar HD Alloy Snow Chains in Tire Chains

We purchased these chains after almost not making it home from Tahoe a couple of weeks ago due to broken cable chains. My husband said he wanted "manly" chains for his truck and this is exactly what he got! We plan to head up to the mountains in a couple of days and it should be no problem. Thanks for making a great product, maybe we will be back for another set for our car! Wendy

  • Heavy Duty Tire Chains To Fit My LT235/85x16 Blizzak Snow Tires
The Titan Chain Tire Chains # TC2221SHD are indeed heavy duty. The extra coating makes them extremely hard and should not break on you. Although these chains are designed for a vehicle and not for a skid steer. The way your skid will twist these chains when turning is going to be putting a lot more stress on the chains than what they were really designed to take. I have not tested these chains with a skid before so I cannot confirm that these will not snap under the intense load. It may...
