Specs:
Note: Tie-down anchors must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the anchors being used. For example, if you are using anchors with a WLL of 100 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 400 lbs, then you need at least 4 anchors to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use anchors in pairs.

Adam: What's going on everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Brophy anchor tie down point. This is going to be a great way to get some lighter loads tied down and it's not going to be a toe stubber, so it really doesn't sit up a whole lot. You can step on it, you probably won't even notice that it's there. We could also mount it up on the wall just to kind of keep stuff up and out of the way. I like using this for some cables, keep it nice and wound up, to where we keep all of or floor space nice and open and everything is nice and organized. All in all, more tie down points in your trailer is definitely something I would like just because it can do more. But one thing to think about is this is going to be more of a lighter duty.
If you need something heavier we do have a lot of different ones to chose from here on our website. To begin the installation just figure out exactly where you want it. We could do a couple different things. One, we can go ahead and just drill two different holes. You can use a quarter inch drill bit or a 15/64th inch drill bit just to make holes for the hardware. But for today we're just replacing an existing hole so we can have this tie down point.
The other one is nice and rusty, so we're going to replace it.Another thing is we do have a nice ring that is removable, so you can either do that. It's going to sit up a little bit higher, or what we can do is you can go ahead and take that off so it's going to be a little more low profile. If you decide to go with the more low profile installation, then you're going to need a 2-7/8th inch hole saw to make that hole, and it'll fit right in there. This tie down anchor is going to have a safe working load limit of 265 pounds and it is going to have a brake strength of 800 pounds. But if you're just planning on drilling something through and hoping it's not going to pull through your floor I don't recommend that, so what we're doing is grabbing the backing plate, because this doesn't come with hardware either, but our backing plate does, so we can utilize that to get this nice and secured down so we can use it to its full potential.I put the bolts through, I'm going to line up these holes, and to avoid the frame I'm going to go like this. I'll slide it into place like that.
Then you can take the hardware that comes with it, you're going to go washer, and then our nylon lock nut, and on our application today I can reach the top, but if you can't you might want to get an extra set of hands. What we're going to need to secure this down on the bottom is a deep well 11-mil socket. You want to make sure to really push down on that plate so it's nice and flush. Get it nice and snug, and do the same thing for our second bolt. Now that everything in nice and tight we can go ahead and start to tie stuff down. It's going to be great for your single S-hooks or J-hooks, but if you start getting to the double J-hooks they are going to be a little bit different just because they're not going to sit on the actual center. So if you do plan on getting these I think a single J or S-hook is going to be the right thing to do.
These here are the etrailer straps and they're going to work great. That will do it for a look at the Brophy anchor tie down point.
