Features to know about

Built for Everyday Towing: 8" x 5-3/8" Steel Wheel Rated for 1,100 lbs

When you’re hauling gear day in and day out, you want something that can handle the weight without a fuss. This 8" diameter by 5-3/8" wide steel wheel is built tough and rated for 1,100 lbs, so it’s ready for real-world use under load. It meets Department of Transportation standards, giving you confidence that every mile is backed by tested performance.

Resists Rust and Road Grime: White Powder-Coated Finish

Moisture and road salt can eat through lesser wheels fast, but this one’s white paint finish is made to resist corrosion. The powder-coated surface keeps it looking clean while protecting the steel underneath. It’s a simple upgrade that lasts season after season, even when stored outside or exposed to wet conditions.

Fitment Made Simple: 5 on 4-1/2" Bolt Pattern with 0 Offset

Getting the right fit is straightforward here. The wheel uses a common 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern with a pilot diameter of 2.81", a wheel bolt size of 1/2"-20, and a true zero offset for balanced alignment. That means you can match it up easily without worrying about clearance issues or uneven stance.

Reliable Build for Confident Use: DOT-Compliant Steel Construction

This sturdy steel wheel is more than just basic—it’s made to meet DOT specifications for safety and consistency. Whether it’s rolling on pavement or parked under load, you know the structure is sound and dependable. It’s the kind of reliability you notice when everything just works right every time you hook up and go.

Determining Bolt Pattern

1. Count the lug holes

Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).

Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug

2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.

Center to Center
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"

2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).

Center to Outside Edge
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Video Transcript for In-Depth Review of the Steel Trailer Wheel

Today we're going to review part number AM20016. This is the Americana 8" x 5-3/8" Steel Trailer Wheel with the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern and white in color. This wheel is made of a sturdy steel construction. Has a nice white powder coat finish over an e-coat primer the front and the back of the wheel. Gives you excellent corrosion resistance. This is a high quality wheel that meets the Department of Transportation specifications. The rim dimension on this is 8" in diameter by 5-3/8" wide.

Basically if you go to measure a rim like this what you'll want to do is when you measure the diameter you're going to measure inside to inside or bead seat to bead seat. Basically when a tire is mounted on this wheel the tire bead would seat right here on the wheel, so you'll measure inside to inside. If we go across you'll see 8" in diameter. The width would be the same way, bead seat to bead seat or inside to inside. You can see 5-3/8", so basically 8" diameter, 5-3/8" wide. The bolt pattern on this wheel is a 5-lug on 4-1/2" bolt pattern.

The way to measure that on any wheel that has a odd number of lugs, like in this case 5, what you'll want to do is pick any hole like this one and then go directly across to the hole right across from it. You can go to this one or this one. What you'll do is when you measure it, you'll measure your starting hole as you go from the center and the hole across from it you go to the outer edge, so the furthest edge. If we're going to go this way to this way, going to try to give you an idea of here. Try to get it on the center.

Then if we get it on the center should be able to see to that edge. Let's do it this way. 4-1/2", so 5-lug, 4-1/2" bolt pattern. Does use a wheel lug size of 1/2" by 20. The pilot hub diameter, which is this large hole in the center goes over the hub on your trailer, diameter on that is going to be 2.8". The weight capacity on this wheel is 1,100 pounds.

That should do it for the review on part number AM20016, the Americana 8" x 5-3/8" Steel Trailer Wheel with the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern. .

  • Looking For Wheels To Go With 16 x6.50x8 Tires On A Lawn Dump Trailer
Hello Rick. We do have wheels that fit the 16 x6.50x8 tires, like the Steel Trailer Wheel # AM20011. This wheel has a 4 on 4 bolt pattern and a 2.5" pilot hole. The 2.5" pilot hole is standard for this size wheel. We also have this wheel in a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern part # AM20016 if that is what you need.

  • Replacement 5.70x8 Wheel with a 5 on 4.5" Bolt Pattern
I have a couple of rims that may work for you. The Steel Trailer Wheel - 8" x 5-3/8" Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 meets your requirements with the exception of the bore size which is 2.80" on these Galvanized Steel part # AM20018 White Steel part # AM20016 For an appropriate tire the Kenda K353 Bias Trailer Tire - 5.70-8 is a great choice. Load Range B part # AM10010 Load Range C part # AM10012 These do not come pre assembled so you will have to mount them or have them mounted at a local shop.

  • Replacement Wheel and Tire For Load Rite Personal Watercraft Trailer With 16.5x6.5-Tires
The Kenda 165/65-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" White Wheel # AM3H220 appears to be the closest Wheel # AM20016 and Tire # AM1HP22 package we have to fitting your trailer. The wheel is 5-3/8" wide from bead seat to bead seat with a 0" offset. The 0" offset places the hub face at the center point of the wheel. This will give you a 2-11/16" offset from the back of the wheel hug face to the rear bead seat. This will be closer to 3" if you are including the wheel lip in your measurement. The...

  • What Valve Stem Will Fit The 8" Steel Trailer Wheel # AM20016 And Is Safe To Use Up To 100psi?
The Steel Trailer Wheel # AM20016 has a 0.453" diameter opening for a valve stem. Since you need up to 100psi I recommend using the Metal, Bolt-In Valve Stem # AM20906. This stem being metal is less likely to become damaged like rubber valve stems. The 5.70-8 Tires # AM10010(B), # AM10012(C) and # AM10013(D) we carry do require a 8" x 3-3/4" Wheel # AM20006. Other tire manufacturers may allow this same size tire to fit the wider wheel but I do not have a way to verify with every tire...

  • Will a 18x9.5-8 Size Tire Fit Americana 8 x 5-3/8-Inch Steel Trailer Wheel # AM20016
Americana Steel Trailer Wheel # AM20016 is 5-3/8-inches wide. The 18x9.5-8 tire size you referenced need a 7-inch wide rim to mount and seal correctly. The link provided will show you several options in 5-on-4-1/2 bolt pattern 8-inch rims that are 7-inches wide. The one most similar to the part you referenced is # AM20026.

  • Trailer Rim Recommendation to fit a 16x7.50-8 Tire
For a rim to fit your 16x7.50-8 tire you will want a 8 inch diameter wheel that is 5-3/8 inch wide like the part # AM20016 for if you have a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern or # AM20011 for if you have a 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern. If you aren't sure what bolt pattern you have check out the FAQ article I attached that details how to determine this.

  • Recommended Tire/Wheel Combos That Are Thinner Than Current 215/60-8 Tires On Trailer
You can change out your wheels from the 8x7 inch to the 8x3-3/4 inch rims. For a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern wheels are the # AM20016. For complete tire and wheel assemblies, I recommend the Kenda 5.70-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" White Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range C # AM30140. These will be almost the same height and will be almost 3 inches thinner than your current tires. The load capacity is 910 lbs at 75 psi, so you actually gain a little capacity with this change. Another option...

  • Does Americana 8" x 5-3/8" Offset Trailer Wheel Come with Powder Coat Finish
The white powder coat equivalent is part # AM20016 but this has a zero offset so if that offset is crucial to your setup then you'll need to stick with the Steel Trailer Galvanized Wheel # AM20018.

  • Tire Recommendation for 8" Wheel with 5 on 4-1/2" Bolt Pattern
I have a solution for you to use an 8" wheel with a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, but we don't carry any tires that fit with the 5-3/8" wheels like what you're looking at with the Americana # AM20016. Instead I recommend using the Kenda 5.70-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" White Wheel # AM30140 which uses a 3-3/4" wide wheel but has the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern and a Load Range C (910 lbs at 75 psi) which is more than enough for your weight rating. Attached is a review video for you to check out.

  • Availability of 8 Inch Wheel with 3.19 Inch Pilot Diameter
We do have a large selection of 8 inch trailer wheels available, however we do not currently have one that features a 3.19 inch pilot hole diameter. The largest pilot hole on an 8 inch wheel we currently have available is 2.81 inches on the Americana Steel Trailer Wheel # AM20016. This wheel has a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern and a weight capacity of 1,100 pounds. Keep in mind that matching the pilot hole diameter is only necessary if your existing wheels are hub centric, meaning they...

  • Do You Carry Trencher Tires To Attach To The Steel Trailer Wheel # AM20016?
Currently we only carry the Steel Trailer Wheel # AM20016 by itself or with trailer tires installed like the Kenda # AM3H220. You will most likely need to visit a local equipment facility to get the tires to install on these wheels. They would most likely keep the tires in stock but would most likely need to special order them as a package so you can always take these wheels to them to have the tires installed.
