1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Today we're going to review Part Number AM20006. This is the Americana 8" x 3-3/4" White Steel Trailer Wheel with the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern. This wheel is made of a nice, sturdy steel construction. It has the white paint finish over the whole wheel, helps resist corrosion. This high quality wheel does meet the DOT specifications. Now the rim dimensions on this is a 8" diameter and 3-3/4" wide, and the way you would measure the wheel to get that measurement is you'll measure bead seat to bead seat. In other words, when a tire is put on this wheel, the tire beads would seat right here, so when you measure the diameter, you'll do inside to inside, and you'll do bead seat to bead seat. The diameter on this wheel, inside to inside, is 8", the width again will not be edge-to-edge, bead seat to bead seat.
So if you put the ruler on there, you see that it's 3-3/4" wide, so 8" diameter, 3-3/4" wide. The bolt pattern on this wheel is a five-lug, 4-1/2" bolt pattern, and the way you would measure that is on a wheel that has an odd number of lugs, like in this case five. You just take one of the holes, pick any hole, measure from the center of the starting hole and then go to a hole directly across from it, either one. You measure from the center of the hole to the farthest edge in the outer edge. So in this case, we're going to measure from here to here, so if we go from the center to that outer edge, see that it is 4-1/2", so five-lug 4-1/2" bolt pattern. It does use a wheel lug size of a half inch by twenty. The pilot hole diameter, which is this large hole in the middle that goes over the hub on your trailer, the diameter on that hole is going to be right at 2.8". The weight capacity on this wheel is 910 pounds, and that should do it for the review on Part Number AM20006, the Americana 8" x 3-3/4" White Steel Trailer Wheel with the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern.
