Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this etrailer Dacromet Six Leaf Slipper Spring with hook end for your 8,000 pound axles. Now this spring is made of sturdy steel and it is designed to flex to absorb road shock and give you a smooth ride, reducing wear and tear on your trailer. And this is going to ensure a level ride on bumpy and uneven surfaces. This spring will do a great job of resisting rust and corrosion with the Dacromet finish. This has a salt spray rating of 700 hours and this is gonna be excellent for boat trailers or any trailer that's regularly exposed to salt treated roads.
This is designed to mount to your trailer frame with hangers or a hanger kit. Those items are sold separately, but if you are in need of them, of course you can find 'em right here at etrailer.com. In the eye is a pre-installed nylon bushing and the eye of this spring will attach to the hangar mounted on your trailer's frame and the slipper end slides into your hangar or equalizer. The eye diameter with the bushing is 9/16", without the bushing, it's 11/16". So this spring does contain six leaves.
The thickness of the leaves is 3/8", and this has a spring capacity of 4,000 pounds and it's designed for 8,000 pound trailer axles. And lemme go ahead and get my tape measure here and I wanna measure from the center of our eye to the end of our hook on the inside. So lemme see if I can line that up there for you so you can see. So from the center of the eye to the inside end of the hook, so I hope you can see there, we're sitting right at 29-1/2" long. The spring width, which you probably can't see from that angle is two inches.
And to ensure proper axle alignment and suspension performance, leaf spring should always be replaced in pairs and we do recommend installation by a professional. Springs are good I guess. I bought the wrong size. They were to long. I usually only use trailer twice a year, once on way to riverat beginning of season and then back home at the end of season.
Product was very good good but only came with one bushing on the eye end. the open end of the leaf spring doesn't come with bushing. have to buy separate.

I installed these on my 1999 boat trailer that had very rusted leaf springs. They are twice and strong and gave me an extra inch of clearance from my fenders which is great because the tires used to rub going over bumps. No idea if the coating will make them last longer, but they look nicer.
