Features to know about

Smooth, Even Suspension Movement: 17-3/8" Long Equalizer Balances the Load

When the suspension can’t move evenly, the ride gets rough and parts wear faster. This 17-3/8" long equalizer connects 2" wide slipper springs on tandem- or triple-axle setups and transfers impact between the axles so the load stays balanced. It’s designed for new-style 8,000-lb to 9,000-lb Dexter axles and keeps the weight distributed for a steady, level ride.

Reliable Setup for Heavy Towing: 1" Center Hole Handles the Load

Every connection point in the suspension matters. This equalizer uses a 1" center bolt hole for solid mounting to the hanger (sold separately) and 5/8" side bolt holes for the spring eye. The layout keeps the mounting points aligned and the suspension geometry correct, so each axle carries its share of the weight without binding or over-flexing.

Consistent Ride Over Rough Roads: Transfers Impact Between Axles

On rough stretches or uneven surfaces, one axle often takes the hit first. The equalizer absorbs that jolt and transfers it to the next axle, smoothing the ride across both. That means fewer harsh bumps, less strain on the trailer frame, and a more controlled feel when loaded down.

Built for Straightforward Assembly: Works with Standard 2" Wide Slipper Springs

Installation is simple when parts fit the way they should. This equalizer connects directly to 2" wide slipper leaf springs with a 5/8" eye, using a keeper bolt (sold separately) at the rear and a suspension hanger (sold separately) at the center. With the right spacing and hardware, it drops into place cleanly and gets the suspension working together again.

fast shipping, cheapest price. what more could you ask for? For it to work perfectly! well of course etrailer only sells great quality products. again thank you for always having what I need to keep my tilt deck on the road!!!!
by:
Ordered 2- 3” equalizers for Dexter axle. They shipped 1- 3” that was correct and in the same box 1 -2 1/2” that is significantly lighter and obviously different. Could have bought it elsewhere cheaper but I needed it fixed for next week. I guess that’s not gonna happen. Shipping was fast. And to be fair 2 1/2” equalizer has a 3” label on it, so not completely etrailers fault but sure doesn’t help me.
by:
Excellent product for my take 3 low profile 48'
by:
It was the exact same part for over $200 less than Nationwide Trailer in Houston, and Nationwide wanted to charge me a 15% restoking fee when I took back their product! I paid $468 for the same thing that I spent only $223 from Etrailer, and I got 3day shipping, awesome company, I will be back, GUARENTEED!

Etrailer service was outstanding! The product looks exceptional.
by:
Usually you are completely on top of your game. This time my company is slightly disappointed in the timeframe of events. We stock checked all parts prior to ordering but then found out after the order was placed some were not in stock. Nobody reached out to let us know the parts were out of stock or asked if we would like to have the rest of the order shipped while waiting for the remaining out of stock items. Once we called we were able to get things moving however the shipment still was not expedited and took an additional extra five days.
by:
Got the bars in on time and was happy with the condition so I installed them two day’s later and they were a perfect fit, thanks etrailer for the perfect ordering and service experience.
by:
Justin what I needed. Is stock, shipping was fast.
by:
PERFECT FIT, AS DESCRIBED IN THE DRAWING!

  • What Size Leaf Spring Bushing Is Required To Use 2 Slipper Spring Equalizer 13-118-03?
The # 13-118-03 you were looking at is designed for 9000lb 2" wide slipper springs with that have a 5/8" Inside diameter bushing like the 6-Leaf Slipper Spring for 9,000-lb Trailer Axles - 30" Long # DX83QR. As long as the bushing has an I.D. of 5/8" the spring will bolt up perfectly to the # 13-118-03.

  • Spring Hanger Spacing Dimensions for a Tandem Axle Slipper Spring Suspension on a 14,0000 lb Trailer
The hanger spacing for a tandem axle trailer suspension setup can be determined, but you need to take into account the axle spacing needed for the overall diameter of your wheel and tire combination and the springs you will be using. Lets say that you plan on using 4 of the 5-Leaf Slipper Springs, # e74SR, for 7,000-lb Trailer Axles, and that your wheel and tire combinations are the Karrier ST235/85R16 Wheel and Tire, # AM32764. The AM32764 wheel and tires overall diameter is 31.61 inches,...

  • Any Leaf Springs Designed for Boat Trailers Used in Salt Water
They do not have leaf springs that are specifically designed for boat trailers that are used in salt water. Since the leaf springs will flex there is no kind of plating or coating that will stay attached to the spring. Also, the process that is used to plate or coat a part can use high temperatures that could cause premature failure of the spring. As long as you get the leaf springs with the correct weight rating and the correct measurements to fit your boat trailer you should have no...

  • What is the Minimum Safe Distance Between Tires on a Tandem Axle Trailer
The general consensus here at etrailer is that the minimum safe distance between tires on the same side of a tandem axle trailer is 4 inches. Technically speaking, you will need a minimum of 1 inch between the tires with the suspension in full flex which is when the tires will be the closest together. There are several things to consider when going to larger tires. First, some folks think that using larger tires will allow them to carry more weight. But you still are limited by the capacity...

  • Trailer Spring Hanger Spacing for 35-Inch-Apart Tandem Axles
The correct hanger spacing for your trailer will depend on several factors; I cannot generalize and give you a specific figure. Hanger spacing depends on spring length, the size of the equalizers used and the length of the shackle straps. The linked article will give you general information about double-eye suspensions including each of the components that make up a trailer suspension system.

  • How to Determine Hanger Spacing on a Tandem Axle Trailer with 6K Axles and Slipper Spring Suspension
The hanger spacing is going to depend on a few things including the spring measurements and the equalizers being used. But if you were using spring # e67SR the distance between the hangers would be around 29-3/4 inches. However this is using hanger kit # AP202-H202 with 10-1/8 inch equalizers. If you were using kit # AP216-H202 the hanger spacing guideline would be 31-1/2 inches because the equalizers are longer. So you can see that it changes depending on the components being used. Also,...

  • How To Raise Trailer to Allow It to Be Towed Level With Taller Truck
Typically lifting the trailer suspension is the best solution for situations like what you described. You can do this by moving the axles from being above the leaf springs to below the leaf springs. The diameter of your trailer axle will determine the size of the parts that you will need to order. If your axle is 3 inches diameter, the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit, # K71-385-00, would be a great choice and if your axle is 2-3/8 inch diameter you could use the Over-Under...

To determine the correct slipper spring replacement hangers you will need to measure the ones you have now and also determine the style that you have. Once you know the measurements of the hangers you have and the style you can use the charts on the page to find the correct replacement.

  • What Would Make Front and Rear or Middle and Rear Trailer Tires Make Contact with Each Other
On a tandem or a triple axle trailer, if the front and rear tires or middle and rear tires make contact with each other then some part of the suspension, which could include the mounts that attach the axle to the suspension, could be broken or worn so much that it allows a lot of movement. You will want to inspect the suspension components for anything broken or signs of severe wear. Usually the wear you will see is egg-shaped holes instead of round holes where the springs hang.
