Malone Crossbar Kit For 6'x8' Utility Trailer

Updated 10/17/2024 | Published 07/01/2019

Question:

I have a 6x8foot utility trailer that came from Tractor Supply. I would like to use it to haul kayaks. Im looking for something like MPG493, however, I think thats only for 4foot and 5foot utility trailers. One big difference with the 6foot vs. the 5foot trailers is the 6foot like mine has the 2inch tubular side rails and not the square rails that MPG493 seems to connect to. What do you recommend?

The Malone TopTier Load Bar Kit for Utility Trailers part # MPG493 fits 4' wide and 5' wide trailer decks so it would not be compatible with your 6 foot wide utility trailer.

The Malone Crossbar Conversion Kit for Standard Utility Trailer part # MPG475 will fit the 6'x8' utility trailer if it has an open frame with square rails.

This answer may need to be updated. Now that the top tier cross bars are 78" instead of the original 65", I see no reason why this product would not be compatible with a 6' wide trailer.

@La You can use them on a 6 foot wide trailer but you will only have about 6" of overhang on the bars. That would be fine if you didn't have any accessories with load assist that needs the extra overhang.
