When it’s time to replace a scored or worn-out drum, this Dexter hub-and-drum assembly makes the job simple. It’s built for 5,200-lb rated axles and works with both electric and hydraulic drum brakes. The 12" x 2" drum surface gives the brake shoes plenty of area to grip for steady, confident braking.
Getting the right fit matters most when you’re rebuilding an axle. This assembly is matched with the inner bearing 25580 (1.75" ID), outer bearing LM67048 (1.25" ID), and grease seal RG06-070 (2.25" ID × 3.376" OD). The races, seal, grease cap, wheel bolts, and nuts all come with it, so you’ve got the core hardware ready for installation without hunting for loose parts.
Dexter’s iron hub and drum take on real-world loads without backing down. The 6 on 5-1/2" bolt circle with 1/2"-20 wheel studs gives you a solid, standard connection to common trailer wheels from 14-1/2" up to 16-1/2". The sturdy build holds up mile after mile, whether you’re refitting an older trailer or keeping a spare hub ready for roadside use.
Because it’s a complete hub-and-drum assembly, you can swap it in when your brakes still have life but the drum surface is grooved or damaged. That means less downtime and a smoother ride once you’re back on the road. It’s a straightforward, proven setup designed for lasting performance in everyday towing.

1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Brittany did an awesome job. Got the correct parts to me in a very timely manner. Thank you
The parts were all the right ones and most were Dexter oem parts. The only problem I had was putting the bolts in the frame end of the spring perch. It was easier to take the spring loose from the axle, put the bolt in ,then bolt it back to the axle. I intend to buy all of my future trailer parts from etrailer.
Initially ordered the wrong diameter hub assembly. Return was quick. Ordered the correct assembly. Greased the bearing, applied seal and installed Hub and drum assembly. Thanks to the FAQ on giving instructions how to order the correct bearings. Assembly is torqued and ready for the road.
Purchased a 7,000 Lb. trailer, but new laws required a trailer with a weight rating to have axle brakes. With the help of etrailer; I found the right parts to add brakes to my trailer. All the parts fit perfect. Thank you.
excellent product shipped to us quickly and exactly what they said it would be I enjoy working with Etrailer because they are very helpful and always get what we need at a reasonable price.
Packed heavy item around fragile parts that moved around. Nothing was damaged but it was out of package.
The staff at eTrailer.com are very helpful and knowledgeable - ask if you're unsure. I originally ordered through the Internet and received the wrong products - because I neglected to ask questions. The return went smooth, but I had to pay for it (my error). The next round arrived well packaged (externally), but there was thin packing tape all over the outside of the hubs and some on the inside rubbing surface of the hubs. It took some doing to get it all off. There was a little rust on the non-contact surfaces of the hub as well as on the brake housing. On the brake housing, you can see some rust in the pic. Looks like it may have been rebuilt. This doesn't seem to have any effect on its operation though. Seals, Races & Bearings are super clean and fit perfectly. I installed these brakes onto the existing '4.5 on 5' flange on a 2000 pound axle (on a 2004 Aliner LX Classic Pop-up trailer). It came with the bolts to attach to the flange, but be sure to order the adjuster grommets, lock washers and 7/16x20 fine thread nuts, since it doesn't come with them. Once I got the wiring set up properly, it works exactly as it should. I prewired the setup prior to delivery. My error was that I assumed the only wire I'd need to run was the blue (brake) wire, but there are two wires on the brake housing as you can see in the picture. Either one goes to the blue (doesn't matter which) and the other attaches to the neutral (white) wire that goes back through the trailer's main wiring harness. Simply attaching the wire to the trailer frame (ground) like I initially did as seen in the picture looked like a good clean setup and easy solution to my one-wire mistake. Unfortunately, it DID NOT WORK. The secondary (neutral) wire must be detected by the tow vehicle's brake controller. Plan ahead and buy the blue and white primary wires (20 feet of 14 or 16 gauge will work) and run them next to each other before hand. Be sure to house the wires in 'plastic split loom tubing' so they don't rub against anything and zip tie them to the frame, so they're not hanging or in the way of anything. Happy braking. :-)
My home-made (not by me) trailer used trailer house axles, and the hubs were shot when I got it. Based on the spindle dimensions (thanks, eTrailer!), I determined that these 5200-lb hub/drum assemblies would fit, and they did perfectly. I've repacked many wheel bearings, so installing these was simple. They spin smoothly and seem to do their job well. The most weight I've put on these four hubs is about 5800 lbs, which was near the limit for the tires, but not a problem for the hubs. I've also driven an hour down the highway on multiple occasions, and have no complaints.
I haven't wired up my brakes yet, so I can't comment on how well the drums work.
Very satisfied with the form, fit, and function of these drums. Very substantial, thicker material and larger overall surface areas as compared to my originals (see attached picture). The trade-off is that they weigh more - increasing dry weight on a small (Hélio O2) tear-drop trailer must be monitored, those added pounds take away from safe and prudent cargo carrying capacity.
Great product and price . Next time I'll buy complete kit , brake shoes, magnets, drums etc.
I bought everything separately .all in one is cheaper . Brakes on my airstream are better than new!
Picture is old brakes and magnets I replaced at same time with new drums and bearings.
Good price and fast shipping on a hard to find item. I have a 2003 Karavan boat trailer, and the OEM parts aren't available. This was an exact match.
I originally received drums with incorrect bolt circles due to box contents not matching their labels. etrailer provided a shipping label for their return and had the correct drums on the way even before receiving the incorrect ones back. All bearings, races and grease seals were included in sealed packs, as well as detailed instructions. After packing the bearings with grease, as well as the hubs, final installation was simple.
Normally I order most everything from Amazon, but when it comes to ordering the exact parts, and getting exceptional customer service, I turn to etailer. Yes, their prices are higher than Amazon, but they also stock everything needed and ship and deliver it, fast. I also really like the fact I can speak to someone in the country, who knows what they're talking about. When you call, they spend as much time as needed to solve the issue, without rushing or just trying to sell something you don't need. I read about etrailer in an RV magazine, and happy I gave them a try.
I ordered this hub kit to keep an extra onboard if I ever need one on the road. It's cheap insurance and something I hope never to use, with my 3k mile bearing services intervals.
The only thing I was not happy about, is the bearings and seal came thrown in a package with the lug nuts and hub cap. This is not ideal with how the shipping box got tossed around, and they could have been damaged. I would like to see each bearing and the seal, individually packaged.
Direct OEM replacement for my old worn one.
Includes new bearings races and seal.
Races are pre-installed, but greasing new bearings and pressing the seal is left to the customer. So there is a little bit of work to do before the swap
Even though Airstream no longer sourced replacement brake parts for my 2003 Airstream trailer, eTrailer had exact replacement brakes, drum/hubs, bearings and seals. Installation of the new parts was easy and quick.
everything arrived but the box was opened. luckily it seems like everything is there
An exact replacement of my trailers drum brake assembly. Thank you
Will was the best helped me identify the best parts to convert an old 1970 axles to modern hubs and electric brake assembly’s new 6 lug wheels and tires fit perfect all bearings and parts were perfect. These folks are best ever to deal with or learn from.My feedback was slow because I was slow getting all of this done.
ETrailer helped me take this shabby trailer to sheik in just one week! Thank you so much for the helpful information. I had no idea what the axel rating was until I watched your video on inner/outer bearing sizing.
Very helpful and very nice people working here. Thanks
Bill was great and had the knowledge to help with a situation I had no information on the hub and I need to get the trailer moved. I would recommend calling etrailer
Exact replacement for badly scored drum on my travel trailer (2019 Airstream Sport 22FB)
