Hi everyone. Steven here with etrailer. Today we're taking a quick look together at some replacement standard dust caps. Folks, these are by Lippert. These are going to be a 1.99 inch diameter dust cap. And if you don't already know, the dust cap is the last component that goes onto the outside of your hub.
And this is what's going to protect the inside of your hub. So the grease, the bearings, the spindle, all that kind of stuff. This will keep contaminants out. And this again is usually about 2,200 pound to 4,400 pound axles. Again, it's 1.99 diameters, so outside to outside here on this lip.
And these are going to be a press in fitting. So we do carry separately, if you don't already have one, a dust cap tool. And what that does is it goes right over the outside, grabs that lift perfectly, and then you can hammer it in with the tool, thus protecting the dust cap. A lot of us, over the years, we use big pliers and stuff, a block of wood, and obviously we end up damaging the top of this cap, right So you don't want to oblong this or anything. So get the right tool.
It's actually going to be a tool you'll probably never have to get again. It's not that expensive. And then you can even let friends borrow the stuff if you want to. These are going to be a zinc plated over steel, so they're going to resist corrosion really, really good. And you're going to get quantity two.

lost both dust covers in a 30 mile trip ,and I've had trailers for over 50 yr and do all the maintenance on them my self , unreal to loose 1 but both of them cheap china crap!
