When you want your gear to stay dry and secure, the BAKFlip MX4 delivers. Its 1/2" thick, rustproof aluminum panels form a hard, protective shell over your bed, while matte black rubber seals and a built-in drainage system keep out most rain and road spray. The premium density foam core adds strength without adding weight, and the matte black finish resists scratches, scuffs, and UV damage so it stays looking clean through years of everyday use.
Hauling oversized gear doesn’t mean you have to take the cover off. The MX4’s quad-fold design opens in sections so you can uncover part or all of the bed in seconds. Prop rods hold the panels upright when you need the entire bed open, and the integrated buckle system secures everything neatly when folded. You can drive with the cover flipped up or folded, and it stays stable the whole way.
You don’t have to choose between security and convenience. Each panel automatically latches when closed, locking up tight as soon as you shut your tailgate. The rear seal allows the tailgate to open or close whether the cover is up or down, so quick access to your tools or groceries is always simple. Once the tailgate is locked, your cargo is fully secured beneath the hard panels.
The MX4 sits flush inside the bed rails for a sleek, streamlined look that blends right in with the truck’s lines. Because it mounts inside the rails, you keep full use of stake-pocket mounts and can add accessories like raised side rails or a compatible ladder rack without interference. The aircraft-grade, rustproof aluminum rails are finished in black powder coat for extra durability and a clean finish.
Getting it installed is straightforward. The frame rails clamp directly to the inside of the bed rails—no drilling required. Bolts secure the front hinge rail to the frame so the cover sits square and seals properly from day one. Once it’s on, you get a solid, rattle-free fit that’s ready for daily use and rated to hold up to 400 lbs of evenly distributed weight.

The BAKFlip after 2 years is still functioning great. I fixed the curling cushion by applying some strong adhesive to the spots that had detached, taped it in place and let cure for a couple of days. That solved that issue. Would continue to recommend the BAKFlip to others.

You mentioned that the glue holding the pads are failing. I wanted to see if you would be able to send a picture to show the locations.

The cover is still excellent and keeps our items dry and secure on those road trips. I stand by my initial review and still wish the weatherstripping would stick the the spray in liner better but its only been a minor annoyance that hasnt resulted in any water getting into the bed.

Thanks for the great feedback! We're glad you're enjoying the tonneau cover and that being able to use almost the entire truck bed when it's open has been such a big plus. It's also nice knowing your gear stays secure when you lock the tailgate. We appreciate you mentioning the clamps too—that kind of feedback is always helpful. Thanks again, and we hope you keep enjoying your new cover!
