If you keep tools in your truck, leaving them loose in the bed exposes them to weather, theft, and whatever else you're hauling. This crossover box keeps them organized and protected behind the cab, with access from either side.
You've spent good money on your tools, so tossing them loose in your truck bed doesn't make much sense. It can be aggravating watching expensive tools get beat up just because they don't have a protected place to ride. They get knocked around while you drive, buried behind whatever else you're hauling, exposed to the weather, and left where anyone can walk off with them. This crossover box gives them an enclosed place behind the cab while leaving room underneath for tools or other cargo in the bed. The included J-hook hardware mounts the box without drilling into your truck.
Give either locking knob a quick bump with your hand and the latch releases, letting the gas struts take over and smoothly raise the lid to nearly 90°. With locking knobs on both ends, you can open the box from either side of the bed. Reinforced hinge points maintain alignment as the lid opens and closes, while full metal shields protect the struts from tools and equipment shifting inside the box. A full rubber weather seal surrounds the lid opening to help keep dust, dirt, and weather away from your gear.
A large open compartment gives you room for bigger gear, but small tools get buried when everything shares the same space. Westin includes a sliding tool tray, level holder, and tool caddies on both interior side walls, giving screwdrivers and other frequently used tools their own places without taking away the main compartment.
The box is formed from one-piece aluminum diamond tread, with additional aluminum reinforcement at stress points throughout the enclosure. The aluminum resists corrosion, while the textured black powder coat covers the exterior.

Hi everyone, Steve here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Westin Brute 71 inch long standard crossover toolbox in a nice textured black finish. Folks, this has been constructed of an extra thick one piece aluminum and it has that diamond tread on top and on the sides. And they've also put in additional thickness in different places of that aluminum to reinforce the main stress points. So like around the lid, around the gas struts and around the locking bar and mechanisms for the latches and everything. So they've really put in a lot of extra thought and care into the quality of the build.
And that textured white powder coat just looks really great in your pickup truck, in my opinion. Now on both sides, the driver and the passenger, you are gonna have these push button to opener and unlock it as well with the key, excuse me, and you can simply tap that with the glove on or something. So that's one thing that I really like about this design is that I can come up here if my hands are full or something, I can just kind of knock it. The gas struts are gonna open it by itself. I'm just stopping it so it doesn't fall off, it's not bolted in.
And that's really nice 'cause now I can get in if my hands are full, put my gear inside and it didn't take a lot more effort and I didn't have to put stuff down or pick it up twice to do so. They're gonna give you two of these foam fields or protectors rather with double side adhesive on the back. And one's gonna go on the driver's side, one's gonna go on the passenger side onto your bed rail when you put this onto your bed. Now, as far as some overall dimensions, let's make sure it fits your truck right. 71 inches long overall, 20 inches deep, 18 inches tall from the top down to the bed or to the bottom of the tool box rather.
And then more importantly, this part here, the base, what's gonna be in between your bed rails, 60 inches long, that same 20 inches deep, 11 inches tall from the base to this part here where the top of your bed rails would sit. So approximately 14.8 cubic foot of space, it's gonna fit most full-size pickup truck beds. Now we do also offer this same toolbox in a polished aluminum and that part number is W33YH if you want the same thing but in a shinier look. Now coming from the top down, you have a nice view of the storage and the area here and everything. So you got some pockets on the side.
Same thing that's over here is on the other side except for this sliding tray. There's one of these, this is real nice. It can slide the full length back and forth. I can take it out at an angle. It comes with these four aluminum dividers so they're lightweight. I can make the spaces in between here bigger or smaller as needed. And of course, they give you your no drill hardware. This is gonna be an easy installation. You have two J bolts per side. You have two packs of these, this one and the other one for the passenger and driver's side. You have screwdriver slots, you have pliers slots, these yellow bars, there's another one again on the other side. So you can put tools like that in there. You have three of these brackets across the back. That's for a level and measure and you can pretty much fit safely a 48 inch long level at the max height or length rather in the back of there. You should be able to fit a shorter one as well on the other side, 'cause the two brackets on that side are a little closer together. So maybe a two foot level. And like I mentioned before, reinforcements around the gas struts. So I'm not worried about stuff hitting this and blocking it. I have reinforcement along that whole bar that goes across the front and around the latches. But now I'm not worrying about stuff hitting it, being able to unlock it, it's gonna be a lot easier, I'm not fighting stuff. I can easily fit full-size toolkits in here. I could technically leave this standing up and still close it. I did wanna show you that, and again, there's that nice diamond tread pattern there. Again, folks, you have locks on both sides. That sliding tool tray, the level holder, the tool caddies, lots of great stuff built into this box by Westin. Again, the Westin Brute 71 inch standard crossover.
