Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen, here at etrailer.com, and we're going to be taking a quick look at the Taylor Made Gas Strut. This helps to hold your hatch open while you do any kind of maintenance or get in there to clean everything out. And it allows that door to stay open or that hatch to stay open. So, it's not going to come down on you and you're not going to have to hold it open or brace it open or anything like that. So, if your original gas strut was broken or damaged, this should be a good replacement for you.
So, let's go over some of the measurements to make sure that this is going to be the right fit for your application. The total length is about 29 inches long if we go from the very end to the very end. From the center of that ball socket to the center of the other side, it's about 28 and a quarter inch, roughly. So, this is rated as a 28-inch gas strut. It looks like that actually is correct.
Sometimes it can be a little bit off.And you can adjust those ends. They are threaded. So, if you need to turn one socket or the other to get it lined up where you need it to be, you can do that. That will also adjust a little bit on the total length that you get out of this. So, again, the other side, threaded, so you can make that adjustment.
That ball socket is a 13 millimeter ball socket. So, it should fit onto your 13 millimeter stud. The compression force for this is 80 pounds. And it does just come as a single strut. It is made out of a corrosion-resistant steel construction.
So, it's heat-treated to make sure that it's nice and durable and that it has a corrosion-resistant coating. So, even if you're using this in a saltwater application, you shouldn't have any worries about rust. That's really about all there is to it for our look at the Taylor Made Marine Gas Strut for your boat hatch. If you need that 13 millimeter ball to fit this onto, if that's not what you already had, we do have that attachment available here at etrailer.com as well. So, you can pick that right up while you get your gas strut. Thanks for watching. We'll see you out there on the water.
