Ellen: Hey, everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're taking a quick look at the Taylor Made Gas Strut. This helps to hold up any kind of door, whether you're trying to get into an engine compartment or a storage compartment, just to make sure that that door doesn't come down and wacky you in the head and it also just helps to keep that open so you can load things in and out, do any kind of maintenance or whatever you might be doing. So, let's take a closer look. I'll give you some measurements to make sure that this is the right fit for you. Now, this does have a rating of 40 pounds, so that's how much force it's going to exert on that door, so as long as it weighs less than that should be a good fit for you. This is a heat-treated steel construction, so it's going to be very durable, and it also has a corrosion-resistant coating so you shouldn't have to worry about any rust or corrosion occurring on here, which is very important for any kind of marine use.It does have the ends here that are going to work with a 13-millimeter ball, so these are a 13-millimeter ball socket.
The length from the center of one to the center of the other side, when it's fully extended, is 28-inches and that's going, again, from roughly center to center. Now, whenever it's all the way in, it's a little hard to say, because you can't, I can't really manually move this in, but the portion that goes up to here is about 15-inches. That's, at most, or what it could be for the minimum. So it's probably going to end up being closer to 16-inches or maybe even 17, as far as what it is whenever it's retracted all the way down.Again, rated at 40 pounds. It is just the single stretch and does not come with any hardware. That's pretty much it for our quick look at the Taylor Made Marine Gas Strut.
I hope that this is what was helpful in deciding if this is the right one for you. We do have a lot of other options available here at etrailer.com, and all kinds of parts for your marine applications, so be to check them out, and thanks for watching..
